Dear Ms. Jones,

I’m writing to apply for the position to become a special education teacher for track 4. I am
currently a student at Arizona State University; however, North Carolina is home sweet home. I
am working towards my master’s degree in addition to majoring in education. I have been
searching for a job with the description that you have posted, and I have finally come across
one on jobing.com.

I fully recognize the responsibility that comes with a job like this. I have had a lot of experience
when it comes to working with kids that are intellectually disabled. I have taken many courses
in college that have prepared me for this moment. I have also volunteered at local summer
camps that help kids with disabilities have fun like any other ordinary kid. I want to be able to
change kids lives and use their strengths and weaknesses to help them accomplish not only
their education goals, but goals in life. I also have many skills that have helped prepared me
such as:

 Knowledge from my SPE222 (orient to ed exceptional child)

 Knowledge to other language such as Spanish

 Personal experience with working with disabled kids

 Previous jobs that have taught me patience and acceptance

When I saw the job opening, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to offer you my people skills.
My goal for this job is to change the stereotype that these children receive. I want to not only
teach them in the general curriculum, but I want to teach them about life and to push them
towards their life goals. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Alexia T. Laughlin
