Dear Principal,

I am writing in your response to your job opening in your school for the position
of___________________________________________. After reading your job description, I am
confident that my skills and my passion for special education and teaching students at the
elementary level are a perfect match for this position. I’m a Broward college teacher education
program graduate with a bachelor’s in special education and am certified in exceptional student
education, k-12, reading, and ESOL.

My experience for this position includes working side by side with a cooperating teacher at
Croissant Park elementary in a 4th-5th grade ASD cluster. I not only observed her classroom for
450 hours but I also created hands on, interactive lesson plans that kept the students engaged and
helped to keep the behaviors in the room at a minimum. I worked side by side with different
educators to learn and create different behavior management techniques that make the most
difference with this particular group of students.

During my teaching education program at Broward college I also completed 90 hours of field
work at challenger elementary school. I did 60 hours with a K-2 ESE reading support facilitator
and 30 hours in general education classroom that had 11 ESE students and 11 Gen ed students.
During these 90 hours I worked side by side with educators in creating lesson plans and worked
one on one with different students on reading, math, language arts, and even science.

I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss this position with you. If you have questions
or would like to schedule an interview, please contact me by phone at 786-923-7401 or by email
at athem1@mail.broward.edu . I have enclosed my resume for your review, and I look forward to
hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Munazza Ather
