METHOD OF STATEMENT
Grouting under steel brackets
1-PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Method Statement is to define the work operations, procedure quality control
activities, and safety, health & environment aspects involved with grouting under steel brackets.
2-SCOPE OF WORK
This Method Statement describes the proper work procedure that will be carried out during
grouting for steel structure and façade work

6-RESPONSIBILITIES:
A- Project Manager (PM)
a- The Project Manager shall be responsible for the overall implementation of this
Production Method and execution works in accordance with the

B. Construction Manager
a. PM is overall responsible for the implementation of this method statement
and ensure to address the needs of the project.
b. Ensure that the manpower and equipment required is implemented.
c. The progressing works are carried out according to the planned program and
all the equipment required to execute the works are available as per the project
planning and are in good condition
d. Co-ordinate with the Consultant, Project Manager, Site Engineer, Safety
Engineer, and sub-contractor for the safe and proper execution of the work.
e. Specific attention to all safety measure and quality control in co- ordination
with safety engineer and QC engineer and in line with HSE plan and Quality
plan.
C. Site Engineer (SE)
The Site Engineer shall be responsible carrying out all the activities mentioned
with the support of skilled personnel and/or specialty manpower who are expert in
this methodology in accordance with the specification, approved construction
drawings, material submittals and manufactures recommendations.
For the coordination during the execution of work in liaison with HSE & QC
Department / Consultant during the entire work procedure.
a- Conduct tool box talk with the safety officer prior to start of every activity
b- Preparing, organizing the activities, workers and Ensure all materials/

equipment to be used is available prior to start of work
c- Provide all necessary information and distribute the responsibilities to his
construction team.
d- Ensure and monitor the work progress in accordance with the required
program and report the same to the CM.
e- Co-ordinate with the safety engineer to ensure that the works are carried out in
a safe working practice.
f- Co-ordinate with the QC engineer for the tests to be carried out and initiate for
the inspection for the finished works.
g- Ensure the implementation of any request as per approved procedure .
h- Strict Monitoring of Works.
i- Pass all the revised information to the Foreman and ensure that it's being carried
out properly.
j- Ensure that the site is maintained clean safe and tidy.
D- Superintendent / Supervisor (SI/SV) :-
The Supervisor shall directly supervise the works and protection of adjacent
structure in accordance with the specification, approved
construction/implementation drawings, material submittals and manufactures
recommendations.
a- Carrying out the work and the proper distribution of all the available resources
in coordination with the site engineer on a daily basis.
b- Daily repo11s of the works achieved and coordinate for the future planning
with the Site engineer.
c- Incorporate all the QC and HSE requirements as requested by the concerned
Engineer.
d- Met with any type of unforeseen incidents or requirements and reporting to the
site engineer immediately.
E- Quality Control engineer/Inspector
The QC Dept. shall be responsible for:-
a- Monitoring the works, and ensure that all the works are carrying out as per
project approved specification and the related quality procedure.

b- Confirms completeness correct opening are being executed, including on site
safety provisions
c- Attending inspections at various stages of the works defined
d- Maintain the efficient recording and reporting of results.
HSE Manager
a. HSE manager shall ensure supervision of all AHSS aspects relating to
work described under this method statement.
b. Safety induction is mandatory to all concerned personnel.
c. HSE plan is implemented and notable presence of toilet s, rest area,
meal quai1ers and cold water in in designated areas throughout the
site.
d. Only approved scaffolding will be used.
e. Ensure all personnel shall complete required safety and training course
and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
f. Grouting material and poring permit shall comply as per HSE plan.
HSE Engineer/Officer
g. Ensure the implementation of all safety measures are adequate and in
accordance with the HSE plan and everybody aware of it for its proper
implementation to maintain the safe working on work site.

wearing the required PPE and prepared to attend emergency Situation
during the work implementation.
a. Attending inspections and supervision to assure the scope of work will
have no negative impact to the surroundings and the environment
b. Inspect all the site activities and train the persons to prevent accidents
and its proper reporting to the project manager and the client.
c. Ensure that the site is maintained clean and tidy.
d. Ensure risk assessment attached with this method statement is
communicated and understood

7-WORK PROCEDURE
7-1 Surface Preparation:-
7-1-1 The substrates must be free from oil, dust, paint or any loosely
adhering material. If concrete surfaces are defective or have
laitance, they must be cut back to a sound base.
7-1-2 Bolt holes and pockets must be blown clean of any dirt and debris
Several hours prior to grouting,
7-1-3 the area of cleaned foundation should be flooded with fresh water.
7-1-4 Immediately before grouting takes place, any free water should be
removed.
7-1-5 Particular care should be taken to blow out all bolt holes and
pockets.
7-2 Formwork:-
7-2-1 The formwork should be constructed to be leak-proof as grouting
material is a free flowing grout.
7-2-2 The formwork will be installed at distance from 25 mm to 50mm
from the base plate
7-2-3 The unrestrained surface area of the grout must be kept to a
minimum.
7-3 Mixing / placing:-
7-3-1 Mechanically powered grout mixer should be used.
7-3-2 It is essential that machine mixing capacity and labour availability is
adequate to enable the grouting operation to be carried out
continuously.
7-3-3 Continuous grout flow is essential.
7-3-4 Mixing water content should be accurately measured and according
material data sheet .
7-3-5 To achieve the consistencies of the grout the amount of clean water
that is added to grout material shod be as manufacturer
recommendation

7-3-6 Place the grout within 15 minutes of mixing or (as manufacturer
recommendation) to gain the full benefit of the expansion process
7-3-7 Grouting can be placed in thicknesses defers from grout material to
another and in a single pour or multiple as material specification
7-3-8 Any bolt pockets must be grouted prior to grouting between the
substrate and the base plate.
7-4 Curing:-
7-4-1 On completion of the grouting operation, exposed areas should be
thoroughly cured.
7-4-2 This should be done by the use of Concur material or , continuous
application of water and/or wet hessian.
7-5 Finishing:-
Grouting extra ending than the base plate.:-
A- Will be kept without cutting if will be covered by floor finishing
B- -Will be cut be grinding if exposed .
7-6 Disposal of cored Material (concrete):
The existing crushed concrete, lying materials, empty pages to be
removed and dispose outside the KAFD at allocated place by Riyadh
Municipality
8- Check Point: QC Inspection
QC Dept. will carry out inspection and supervision to ensure that
documents and logs are properly documented and is according to
approved drawings, agency code and local standards and protection to
adjacent structure has been carried out satisfactorily.
An IR will be issued to consultant/client after the completion of work
has been done.

9- HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT:
A. All works shall comply with safety procedure or instruction as set in
out in Project Safety Procedures and the governing Municipality rules
and regulation.
B. Basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall be worn by all
staff or laborers performing the work.
C. Ambulance services should be readily available on site.
D. Waste and other undesirable materials should be disposed to areas
approved by the local authorities.
E. Sufficient cold drinking water shall be provided to workmen shall be
provided to workmen during hot weather conditions.
F. Adequate welfare facilities shall be provided to workmen.
G. Required permits shall be obtained prior to commence any activity.
H. Standby vehicle shall always be kept available for emergency
purposes.
I. Airside safety requirements shall be adhered to.
J. Competent supervision shall be available full time.
K. All workmen have adequate training to carry out the task.
L. Extra control measure shall be taken when working close to live utilities
like electricity.
M. All tools plant and equipment shall be inspected prior to work and shall
meet third party certificate requirement where required.
N. Adequate first aid facilities shall be provided
O. Suitable signs shall be posted.
P. All drivers/operators whom shall be assigned in airside shall undergo

defensive driving program before commencing work.
Q. All the vehicles/machines shall be operated by competent
drivers/operatedwith appropriate certification.
R. Extra attention shall be paid to ensure all activities undertaken in the
airside being done safely and full time HSE officers shall be available at
worksite.

10- RECORDS:
Records generated during the grouting works which demonstrates the
achievement of the required quality, will be readily identifiable and kept in a
satisfactory manner for inclusion in the as- built records.
