STUDYING IN MY HOMETOWN AND LIVING WITH MY PARENTS OR STUDYING
ABROAD AND LIVING IN THE HALLS OF RESIDENCE
One way of another we are bound to finish our education. Some of us will continue after
junior high, and some will stop there. Either way rarely anyone stops after or in the middle of
their middle school education.
There can be 2 options as to where and how we could expand our schooling, and they
are as follows: either we can stay in our hometown (or wherever it is that we an individual
finished their middle school), or we can go study abroad. Both options have their advantages
and disadvantages.
Studying in our hometown implies that one will stay within their hometown (most likely
with their parents) and continue studying without changing much in their usual lifestyle. Pros of
this are that, as aforementioned, you will not need to change much in your lifestyle (if not for
other factors), you do not have to pay for your rent or bills (unless your parents make you/you
want to). New experiences can be quite frustrating, but a person (in most cases) will take it
much easier in familiar city than in a foreign one. Negatives of this choice are the same as
advantages of the second one, so I will elaborate on them in the next paragraph.
So, we have discussed on the first option, but what about studying abroad? This would
be my preferred option, and for the following: traveling and seeing how other cultures are is
one of my favorite and the experiences that I would enjoy the most. Other than that, studying
abroad makes you separate from your parents, which can both be good and bad (you learn how
to take care of yourself more efficiently and you become more independent, but on the cost of
not having someone very close to you and who could help you directly). One of the reasons
why studying abroad is popular amongst students is because you most likely will go to a country
where school and education is more prestigious than in your own, and which offers us a better
future than already presented. Along with learning about the new culture, you will be making
new friends and connections. But if it could be better for our education to study abroad why
don't all go? The reason is that you (if you don't have any relative living in the respective
country, you will most likely live in the hall of residence, you will be separated from your family
and friends, it could be hard to get used to new lifestyle etc.
Although the second option may be less popular in our country I would still choose it,
and for the reasons I already said (or rather, wrote). I think studying abroad will give me new
experiences and a better future.
