Shift Solenoid E Malfunction

This document provides diagnostic information for a P0770 DTC code indicating a malfunction with the shift solenoid "E". It describes the system, the detecting condition for the DTC, and potential trouble areas. The inspection procedure involves checking the operation of the shift solenoid valve SL by applying compressed air and voltage to check for leaks or proper opening. If the solenoid valve checks out, the next steps are to check the valve body and replace the torque converter clutch if needed.

DTC P0770 Shift Solenoid ”E” Malfunction

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The ECM uses the signals from the throttle position sensor, air-
flow meter and crankshaft position sensor to monitor the en-
gagement condition of the lock-up clutch.
Then the ECM compares the engagement condition of the
Line Drain
Pressure lock-up clutch with the lock-up schedule in the ECM memory
to detect mechanical trouble of the shift solenoid valve SL,
valve body and torque converter clutch.
