Cruise Control System: Description

The cruise control system on the Fortuner/Hilux SW4 maintains a desired vehicle speed without depressing the accelerator pedal. On diesel models, it adjusts the injection volume through the diesel EFI system. On gasoline models, it adjusts the throttle valve position through the ETCS-i. The cruise control ECU is integrated into the main ECM. It uses sensors to monitor speed and pedal position and controls the throttle via the ECM to hold the set speed.

J DESCRIPTION
D The new Fortuner/Hilux SW4 uses a cruise control system. For details on the provision, see Equipment
List on page MO-23.
D On the models with the 1KD-FTV engine, once the system is set to a desired vehicle speed, the injection
volume is adjusted automatically to maintain the vehicle speed without depressing the accelerator pedal.
This system effects control through the diesel EFI system.
D On the models with the 1GR-FE engine, once the system is set to a desired vehicle speed, the throttle valve
position is adjusted automatically to maintain the vehicle speed without depressing the accelerator pedal.
This system effects control through the ETCS-i (Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent).
D The cruise control ECU is integrated in the ECM.
