May 21 Thornburg Incident Report

An arson investigation was conducted at 4505 Valentine St in Fort Worth, Texas after a residential structure fire. Firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from windows and located one fatality victim. The arson investigator determined the fire originated in the bedroom located at the corner of the house. Based on the evidence, the fire was classified as incendiary, meeting the elements of arson of a habitation. The police homicide unit was notified due to the fatality.

INITIAL ORIGIN AND CAUSE REPORT

On Friday, May 21st, 2021, at approximately 10:01 hours, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to a
residential structure fire at 4505 Valentine St. Fort Worth, Texas 76107. The Fort Worth Fire Department Incident
Commander and fire companies arrived on the scene and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the windows
located at the A/B corner of the house. The Engine and Truck companies completed a search and fire
suppression activities; during the search of the residence, fire companies located a victim in the room of origin.
Per FWFD policy, the IC requested an Arson investigator to the scene.  I, Investigator E.R. Thompson, Arson 28,
#5970, the on-duty investigator, responded to this incident to conduct an origin and cause investigation. I was
assisted by Investigator J. Horton Arson 03, #5451. 

There was one fire fatality victim at this fire.

After concluding my on-scene investigation, I determined the area of origin as the bedroom located at the A/B
corner of the residence located at 4505 Valentine. The fire at the above address is classified as “Incendiary,”
meeting the elements of Arson of a Habitation PC. 28.02.

This report is based on facts available at the time this report was written. Information made available after
completion of this report may change the conclusions of the origin and cause report.

Additional Fort Worth Arson Investigators that participated in this investigation will be detailed in the origin and
cause report to follow.
