What is the importance of
monuments and buildings?
Monuments remind us of our heritage. They are like a
treasure for a nation and symbol of pride of their
civilization. They help us to appreciate our past and
the level of development, knowledge and thoughts. In a
way, they provide life to our past.
Why is it important to restore
monuments?
Innovation in architecture is with no doubt extremely
important, but preserving and restoring the old
buildings is also important because those old monuments
are the reflection of our history, they help us to
understand and respect people who lived in different
eras with different habits and traditions.
Isit better to keep old
buildings or build new ones?
By replacing old buildings, there will be more
space for housing, which is especially
important due to the current problem of
overcrowding. In doing so, it can guarantee
basic living standards. There will also be more
space for buildings used for educational
purposes, as education is important for the
nations' growth.
Historic buildings within a community not
only add to the aesthetics and cultural
values of the area, they also have a
kinder impact on the environment and
attract more people to the area.
Preserving them is beneficial not only for
a community's culture and heritage, but
also for its local economy.
Should old buildings be rebuilt?
Repairing and reusing existing buildings uses energy
and material resources more efficiently and
reduces waste. New materials don't need to be
created, nor older demolished materials thrown
away. Plus energy for rebuilding is conserved.
Also, tearing down structures releases toxins and
pollutants in the environment.
