1.1.1 How to use this manual
This Operator's manual is intended primarily for the
machine operator and provides information about the
use, the settings and operation of the machine.
Provided all instructions regarding maintenance and
care of your machine are followed, you can count on
many years of reliable service.
Please have your authorised CLAAS dealer carry out
the recommended regular inspections. The neglecting
of regular maintenance and proper machine operation
result in reduced performance and loss of time.
If proper operation and careful maintenance is
ensured, your machine which incorporates the latest
technology will render you excellent service.
Separate Operator's manuals are available for front
attachments and hitched trailers.
Texts and figures
Pictures and graphics are neutral. Differences are
pointed out by notes beneath the figure.
Texts are short and not machine-specific as far as pos-
sible. Differences are pointed out by intermediate
headings.
Different types of texts can easily be distinguished
from one another by their formats. The following for-
mats are distinguished:

Document structure based on subassemblies

As far as the contents permit, the chapters of this man-
ual are structured according to subassemblies. The
structure of these subassemblies is the same in all
chapters.
Different product groups have different document
structures based on subassemblies. CLAAS always
takes care to keep these document structures based
on subassemblies identical in any documents.

Directions

Technical data, dimensions and weights are given as
an indication only. CLAAS reserves the right to make
changes subsequently as technical developments con-
tinue. Responsibility for errors or omissions not
accepted.

1.1.4 Licensing for road traffic
The CLAAS GPS PILOT steering system must be
installed either according to the installation instructions
provided in the certificate proving that the unit is safe
to operate or according to the prototype report. This
depends on your machine type.
If your machine type is covered by the certificate prov-
ing that the unit is safe to operate issued by the
RWTÜV, please read this certificate before starting off.
This document must always be carried along on the
machine and presented upon request.
This certificate proves that the installation of the auto-
matic CLAAS GPS PILOT steering system is safe to
operate on different machines.
Please check if your machine is listed in that
certificate.
If it is not, the operating permit of your machine will
expire.In that case, you should contact your specialist
workshop immediately.
In addition, this certificate specifies the use of the auto-
matic steering system. One essential point is that
when driving on public roads, the system must always
be shut down.
When the system is installed on a machine type cov-
ered by the regulations of the prototype report, an
expert must carry out an acceptance of the steering
system.
Until further notice, version no. Zgm 154.0.3 for install-
ing control systems for automatic steering of tractors
shall apply.
After the CLAAS GPS PILOT has been installed in
a specialist workshop, the workshop foreman shall
complete and sign the installation certificate
(Annex 3 of prototype report).

The actual acceptance according to § 21 of the Ger-

man Regulations Authorizing the Use of Vehicles for
Road Traffic must be carried out by an expert, based
on the prototype report. In an expert report, this expert
confirms that the installation has been carried out
according to the prototype report requirements.
Using this expert report/acceptance certificate, a new
vehicle identification card part I (formerly: vehicle iden-
tification card) and part II (formerly: vehicle registration
document) must be applied for at the road traffic
authority.
The cost of technical acceptance by an expert and
preparation of the new vehicle identification cards shall
be borne by the customer.

ment is always at the same distance from the edge.

This display shows the operator with which tolerance he can approach the target track manu-
ally. With the "high" setting, this can mean that the machine is on the GOLDEN LINE and

on the target track for up to 250 mm.

6.4.1 Shifting A - B lines in the menu
This function is used when the guidance lines do not
match the target track.
This may be the case when a large field is split in the
middle and one half of the field is then harvested.
When the machine returns to the middle of the field
after some time, the guidance lines may not match the
target track any more due to the correction signal
received in the meantime.
The original guidance lines can be shifted to the cur-
rent position.
There are two ways of shifting the A - B lines.
Option 1
Shifting the A - B lines in the A - B mode.
By calling up the menu item, the A - B lines can be
shifted to the current machine position.
Option (1) is described under: Shifting A - B lines in the
A-B mode.
Option 2
Shifting the A - B line in the menu.
After calling up the menu item, a value in centimetres
can be entered by which the A - B lines are to be
shifted.
The result obtained from the two options 1 or 2 is the
same.
The entire grid is relocated / shifted. Note: The new
grid does not fit the tracks travelled previously any
more.

Note!
All guidance lines are shifted.
Avoid unnecessary shifting of guidance lines.
– Harvest one plot completely in one work
process.
– Avoid changing permanently between
different plots.

Good signal quality and range can be guaranteed only
if the place of installation fulfils the following
conditions:
– Set up the base station within the viewing range of
the machine if possible.
– Do not set up the base station in valleys or
depressions.
– Set up the base station at a distance of 50 m min.
from an obstacle of 5 m height max. (tree,
building).
– Set up the base station to the side of the AB lines
if possible.
– Do not change the position of the base station
during operation.
If operations require a new position, e.g. on the
next working day or when changing into another
field, the base station must be newly set up. Wait
for the base station to be ready for operation.
Under the conditions mentioned above, the GPS
PILOT can operate within a radius of up to 3 - 5 km
around the base station without any restrictions.

edges or for driving along field boundaries or contour
lines. In this mode, either an initial passage is recorded

When logging an initial passage, the area size is auto-

In the contour guidance mode, any passage defined
previously (including an A-B line) can be used for

You may change between straight line guidance and
contour guidance at any time. When changing from
straight to contour, the GPS PILOT will guide you
along any previously covered track.

straight or parallel tracks. In this mode, you either
record an initial passage (the A-B line) or you are

You can set up the first track (the A-B line) along a
straight field boundary or split up the field with a
straight swath and work towards both sides. All
following passages will run at an equal distance
(= pre-set working width) from the first track.

7.7.5 Relocating A-B lines in the A-B mode
– Observe the general warnings at the beginning of
the "Fieldwork settings" chapter.
This function is used when the guidance lines do not
match the target track.
This may be the case when a large field is split in the
middle and one half of the field is then harvested.
When the machine returns to the middle of the field
after some time, the guidance lines may not match the
target track any more due to the correction signal
received in the meantime.
The original guidance lines can be shifted to the cur-
rent position.
There are two ways of shifting the A - B lines.
Option 1
Shifting the A - B lines in the A - B mode.
By calling up the menu item, the A - B lines can be
shifted to the current machine position.
Option 2
Shifting the A - B line in the menu.
After calling up the menu item, a value in centimetres
can be entered by which the A - B lines are to be
shifted.
Option 2 is described under: Relocating the A - B line
in the menu.
The result obtained from the two options 1 or 2 is the
same.
The entire grid is relocated / shifted. Note: The new
grid does not fit the tracks travelled previously any
more.

Note!
All guidance lines are shifted.
Avoid unnecessary shifting of guidance lines.
– Harvest one plot completely in one work
process.
– Avoid changing permanently between
different plots.
