TDS Drilling Detergent

Drilling Detergent is a liquid blue detergent compound used in water-based drilling fluids to minimize bit balling and reduce torque and drag. It has a specific gravity of 1.02 and is miscible with water. Drilling Detergent is typically added to drilling fluids at a concentration of 2 to 3 gallons per 100 barrels and can be increased to 4 to 6 gallons per 100 barrels when drilling hydratable and sticky shales. Safety equipment such as goggles and protective clothing should be worn when handling Drilling Detergent as it may cause irritation upon contact with skin or eyes.

APPLICATION

Drilling Detergent is used in all types of water-based drilling fluids to reduce torque and drag, and
minimize bit balling. Drilling Detergent is usually added to the mud system at a concentration of 2 to 3
gals per 100 bbls drilling fluid. The concentration can be increased to 4 to 6 gals per 100 bbls drilling fluid
when drilling hydratable and sticky shales.

TECHNICAL & ENGINEERING INFORMATION

Drilling Detergent is a highly active detergent compound (sulphurized tall oil) that has been formulated
especially for use in water-based drilling fluids.

PACKAGING AND STORAGE

Drilling Detergent is supplied in 55 gal (208 lt) steel drums. Contents valid for 2 years from manufacturing
date on the drum.

HSE

Drilling Detergent may be an irritant on contact with skin and may be harmful if inhaled, ingested or on
contact with eyes. The following safety wear, as recommended in the MSDS, should be used when
