Little Miss Magic

Before you begin ...

» 2.5 mm crochet hook
» 5 different yarns for hook size 2.5 mm
» tapestry needle with blunt tip, a curved needle
(useful for attaching arms and hair}
» scissors
» tape measure
» stitch markers
» stuffing
» two safety eyes, 7 mm, black (It‘s also possible to embroider the eyes.)

A piece of advice ...

This doll is meant for collectors. Be careful especially with children under the age of 3 years. The safety eyes and yarn can
come loose, depending on your crochet skills, stuffing can come out.

First a few suggestions ...

» We will be crocheting in continuous rounds. Head and body are crocheted in one piece, starting at the feet.
» Crochet as tight as you can! Should the holes between the stitches become too big, use a smaller crochet hook.
» Use stitch markers. Using these will help you with counting and keeping up with increasing and
decreasing in the correct way.
» If you feel like there is no more space left for stuffing, do put in a handful more!
» Modelling accurately when stuffing will give this girl the perfect shape! So don’t just stuff the stuffing randomly,
but stuff it in the right parts ;)!

Required yarn ...

Short explanation in advance ...

Abbreviations are used in the pattern and are therefore not explained further: Chain stitch (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet
(sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), turning chain (t ch). When a ‚t‘ stitch and the first chain count as the first
stitch in a row or round this is specifically mentioned and described in the pattern instructions.

Other abbreviations ...

[...] ...x Everything within brackets is repeated! The number of repeats is given before the x.
inc Single crochet increase. Work two single crochets in the same stitch of the previous round.
dec Single crochet decrease. Work two following stitches in the front loop and stitch them together
like a single crochet. (fig. 1 and fig. 2)
sc3tog, dc3tog Work three following stitches in the front loop and stitch them together like a sc (fig. 02).
rnd(s) Round(s)
(... st) st = Stitches, this indication in the right page margin refers to the amount of stitches in this round.
lp, blo, flo Loop, back loop only, front loop only
col ch color change

These techniques will be used and are therefore not further explained: Magic loop, finishing rounds, sewing yarn.

Invisible decrease

fig. 01 fig. 02

Let‘s start with the legs ... (make 2)

fig. 01 fig. 02 fig. 03 fig. 04

Grab your yarn for the shoes!

Start with a magic loop.
01. round sc 6 into the loop, then tighten loop (6 st)

Break yarn and fasten off ! Now repeat it one more time!
Embroider both shoe buckles in color anise (fig. 04).
fig. 05
Crochet the legs together ...
Short explanation in advance: Take the yarn in skin color and “attach it to the end of the last
leg stitches (fig. 5, a)”, through both stitches and work a single crochet into the same stitch point. a
This is the beginning of your new round (which is located at what will be the buttocks,
on the reverse of the doll).

fig. 06
The legs are now crocheted together like an 8 (fig. 06, b) b
01. round col ch violet (fig. 05), sc (36 st)
It‘s important to have 36 stitches after the 1st round!
02. round sc (36 st)
03. round col ch black [sc 3, inc]9x (45 st)
04. round [sc 4, inc]9x (54 st)

09.-10. rnds. (2) sc, last round exactly until the back middle* (fig. 07)
Drop yarn but do NOT break off as it will be picked up later! back middle

Explanation “back middle” (fig. 07):

It sometimes happens in the pattern that we have to continue crocheting to the center back. In this way,
little mistakes can be compensated for and everything will be located at the correct position!

The dress ...

Round of frills ...

Now we crochet the frills of the dress! We make a new loop with the yarn in the color of choice for the frills. The legs are now
pointing away from our body (fig. 01), the pretty side of the frills, points outwards, or upwards.

The head ...

fig. 01 fig. 02 fig. 03 fig. 04

We now continue crocheting from the neck and count down the rounds beginning with “round 01”

01. round [sc 2, inc]6x (24 st)

02. round [sc 3, inc]6x (30 st)
03. round [sc 4, inc]6x (36 st)
04. round [sc 5, inc]6x (42 st)

Stuff firmly up to the neck!

16. round [sc 5, dec]6x (36 st)

17. round [sc 4, dec]6x (fig. 01) (30 st)

Short break ... we continue with the face.

The face ...

We now count down the rounds from the head “round 01”! (see at the red line fig. 01)

Nose in skin color between round 10/11 in 2 stitches [2 to 3 times around], making sure 2-3 threads are visible
Eyes between round 11/12 applied with a distance 6/7 stitches. Stitch on the eye lashes! (fig. 02)

Tip! When using safety eyes, stitch on the eye lashes, before you apply the eyes or close them with the cap.
After you have stitched on the face, fill the head further with stuffing!

We close the head ...

Take the yarn from the head from “round 17” ...
18. round [sc 3, dec]6x (24 st)
19. round [sc 2, dec]6x (18 st)
Stuff firmly!
20. round [sc 1, dec]6x (12 st)
21. round [dec]6x (6 st)

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Now draw the tail of the yarn through your last stitch thus creating a knot to fasten off and the
work is secured. Now use a tapestry needle to work the remaining 6 stitches (fig. 03) from the front side into the front loop, then
draw yarn tightly and close the head (fig. 04). Fasten off the yarn!

Finally, you can give Miss Magic rosy cheeks with rouge, eye shadow or textile marker.

fig. 01 fig. 02 fig. 03 fig. 04

We go on like this ... ch 26 incl. t ch, sc 25 crochet backward alongside the chain, 3 sc (fig. 01)

We now repeat this part in a spiral, counter-clockwise upwards, to the middle of the cap. We first crochet around the last round
of the cap (fig.22), skip next 2 front loop only rows (fig.33, a) and continue crocheting in the front loops of the cap.
Because we work in the opposite direction of the spiral, we always have to jump between the rows “upwards” after finishing a
round, as shown in fig. 03. There should be two “empty” rows of “front loop rows” between the rows of strands (fig. 04).

The hat ...
