     To Whom It May Concern:
It is my absolute pleasure to recommend Mr. Jordan Pettit for a school counselor position in your school district. I have known
Jordan for approximately three years as his graduate school professor and academic advisor. Jordan will graduate in May 2023 from
Kutztown University, successfully completing his Master of Science in Professional School Counseling with a PreK-12 Certification.
Throughout Jordan’s graduate program I had the pleasure of working with him for multiple semesters as his instructor, advisor, and
most currently as the faculty supervisor for his 600-hour Supervised Counseling Internship. Jordan is an outstanding student, a sincere
pleasure to work with, and a wonderful addition to the field of school counseling. Through his PreK-12 field experiences, Jordan has
gained great insight into the developmental levels of all students and has a thorough understanding of the implementation of the
American School Counselor Association National Model. Jordan is compassionate, knowledgeable, and well-organized—traits that will
serve him well as a school counselor within your district.
Jordan is skilled at engaging those around him in a thoughtful, intentional, and understandable manner, whether those
interactions be as a student, intern, or professional. I have witnessed these traits both in and out of the classroom. In class he articulately
unpacks and explains complex academic and developmental constructs with his peers in a way that demonstrates expert knowledge and
collegial support. Outside of the classroom he has helped to advise the SADD club; working intentionally to reduce substance use at
his site. He is genuine, intelligent, and a natural leader. He intentionally elected to stay in the same school district for both his practicum
and internship experiences, allowing him to thoroughly understand the needs of the student population in the district. This was especially
significant for the students who were rising 9th graders for the 2022-23 academic year. This insight allowed him to work in an integral
way with his current 9th grade caseload as they worked through sensitive and important life and academic choices.
Since meeting Jordan, I have known him to be consistently and wholeheartedly focused on securing a degree in School
Counseling and becoming the consummate professional and advocate. In addition to his academics and field experiences, Jordan has
volunteered with Camp Connect, providing grief and bereavement support to students across Berks County. Additionally, he conducted
research (under the direction of Dr. Brenner) at his internship site on the topic of kindness with 9th grade students. These volunteer and
scholarly experiences will greatly enhance Jordan’s knowledge and skills as a professional school counselor. Jordan’s ability to establish
positive relationships with students will serve as a huge value-added to the school population he serves as a school counselor.
As a School Counseling intern, Jordan works diligently to serve students in a manner that is most supportive and least
restrictive, including classroom lessons, small group counseling interventions, and individual counseling sessions. He designed small
group interventions to support students’ academic and social/ emotional success. He also contributed to IEP meetings, 504 planning,
and SAP team referrals. He regularly meets with students 1:1 to discuss peer concerns, post-secondary plans, academic grades, and/or
mental health concerns. Through his positive attitude and energetic disposition, Jordan continues to form positive relationships with all
his students as well as the faculty and staff to a level that far surpasses the expectations of an intern.
I am confident Jordan is an excellent candidate for the school counselor position in your school district and know he will be an
asset to whatever school is lucky enough to hire him. He advocates for student needs, both emotionally and academically, and he supports
them to ensure they are learning to their highest capacity. If you would like to further discuss Jordan and his capabilities as a school
counselor, please do not hesitate to contact me.
     Sincerely,
