“Our first destination is from the Queen of the South “
V. Cebu
Cebu, the “Queen City of the South”, the second most significant metropolitan center in the
Philippines and is also known as the oldest city established by the Spaniards in the country. Cebu is
known for its sumptuous food and delicacies as well as its vibrant beaches and nature activities.
        A. Tourist Destination
Sirao Garden – is best known for its celosias, which look like bright flames, usually in
red and yellow. Its name in Greek means “burning”. Long before other flower gardens
opened and touted celosias as attractions, Sirao Garden already had these fiery blooms
                and become famous for them.
Temple of Leah – Teodorico Soriano Adarna had the Temple of Leah built for his late
wife, Leah Albino-Adarna. Their marriage lasted for more than five decades. Teodorico
and Leah are the grandparents of Ellen Adarna, a famous actress in the Philippines.
Located in Barangay Busay, the Temple of Leah began construction in 2012.
Tops lookout – is an observatory deck and a picnic place overlooking the city of Cebu,
Mandaue, and Mactan Island. On top of the mountain, an interesting concrete fortress-
like structure can be found where small stores, bars, and cafés are located.
Magellan Cross – Magellan planted a cross to signify this important event about the
propagation of the Roman Catholic faith in what is now Cebu, in central Philippines.
Basilica Minore De Sto. Niño – is known as the oldest Catholic Church in Cebu. The
church houses the image of the Sto. Niño, the city’s patron saint that represents Jesus as a
black Holy Child. It is also a place for prayer and pilgrimage to a large number of people
                each year.
Fort San Pedro – is the oldest and smallest fort in the Philippines and is one of the city’s
prides. Lying in Plaza Independencia in the pier area of Cebu, the fort holds a rich history
of the island and the historical events during the Spanish rule.
The Heritage of Cebu – The Heritage of Cebu Monument, a tableau showcasing the
important events in Cebu City’s history, is one of the highlights of the town. The scenes
depicted on the monument is related to the time of Spain's colonial rule over the country
up to the recent beatification of Pedro Calungsod, the Cebuano martyr.
Yap Sandiego Ancestral House – Admire Chinese architecture and décor and learn
about Cebu’s past in the museum housed in the city’s oldest residential home.
Cordova 1000 Roses Café – The Influx of visitors to the place come to see for
themselves and enjoy the white light emitting from within the white flowers
themselves. By the way, they are not real flowers, apparently, but made of synthetic and
plastic petals each supported by metals that serve as stems making stand.
Island Pasalubong – It is a one-stop shop that houses the best and most complete
assortment of Cebuano brands in local delicacies as well as the hard-to-find homemade
                  varieties.

VII. Baguio
Baguio is dubbed as the "City of Pines" and is famous for its green park spaces, hillsides teeming
with gigantic pine trees, and other North Luzon tourist spots. Even back in the day, the city was always
filled with greenery.
Trivia – “Baguio City is well-known in Russia as the place where a historic match for World Chess
Championship took place in 1978. It would be such an honor for the City of Baguio to be involved in a
joint cultural and sport initiative.
The Baguio Convention Center was inaugurated in 1978, just in time for the World Chess
Championship. It was purposefully built for the Karpov-Korchnoi match. It could accommodate up to a
thousand people and was equipped with the latest lighting and sound system.
        C. Tourist Destination
Lions Head – Lion's Head is known for its views of both the city and the Atlantic
Seaboard, and the hour-long walk to the top is particularly popular during full moon.
Camp John Hay – is a renowned mountain retreat in Baguio City. Built about 5000 feet
above sea level, averaging a moderate temperature of 19 degree Celsius. In addition to
hotels, shopping and conference centers in the city, it is visited mainly because of its
    world-class Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.
Baguio Convention Center – It was inaugurated by President Ferdinand E. Marcos
during the opening of this championship match on July 17, 1978. At one time the facility
was used by The Philippine Military Academy for their graduation ceremonies as well as
for the 100th Nite Show of the dialectic society of the Cadet Corps.
Baguio Museum – Baguio Museum stands at the corner of Governor Park and Harrison
Road. The building boasts Ifugao-inspired architecture such as a pyramid roof and two
large poles situated by the entrance, which make the building resemble a traditional
Ifugao hut that is often elevated from the ground by wooden posts. The museum displays
various artifacts that depict the culture of the six provinces in the Cordillera region. The
oldest artifacts here date all the way back to the 1950s. Along with the artifacts, you can
also find scale maps, miniature models, and clippings about the region's history here.
Burnham Park – Considered as the city's "mother of all parks," Burnham Park is one of
Baguio's best attractions. It was named after urban planner Daniel Burnham, the
American architect who came up with the original design and layout of the park.
Burnham Park is an open green park at the heart of Baguio. The park's lush greeneries
and blooming flowers make you forget that you are in the middle of a highly urbanized
    city.
Igorot Stone Kingdom – its concept for the man-made kingdom was “Igorot child's
castle fantasies, his childhood in Mountain Province, and a caring God and family culture
brought by the Igorot's skill of stone laying,”
The Mansion – The Mansion is the official summer residence of the President of the
Philippines. Older than the city itself, it was originally built as the seat of power of
Governor Generals during the American Occupation. Its architecture was designed by
Architect Daniel Burnham, who was also responsible for the city planning of Baguio and
    Manila.
Botanical Garden - The Baguio Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful places in
Baguio and provides a much-needed tranquil space amid bustling Baguio City. In 2009,
the garden was renamed Centennial Park in celebration of Baguio's 100th year as the
Summer Capital of the Philippines. Exploring the garden is a whole adventure on its own,
as it has several sections with different attractions. As you enter the park, you will be
    greeted by a giant sculpture.
Mines View Park – Baguio was a former mining town in the early 20th century. To get a
glimpse of that past, you have to visit Mines View Park. This park sits on a ridge on the
northeast side of Baguio. Exploring the park is one of the recommended leisure activities
in Baguio. As such, its main attraction is a viewing deck that offers a stunning view of
the Cordillera Mountains and Benguet's old copper and gold mines. Tourists are given a
chance to dress in traditional Ifugao garbs like bahag (loincloth), vests, and headdresses,
and even hold a shield and spear for picture-taking.
Good Shepherd Convent – Aside from the pasalubong stores around Mines View Park,
do not forget to drop by at the Good Shepherd Convent that is just a stone's throw away.
Their acclaimed peanut brittle, ube, and strawberry jam have become synonymous with
Baguio pasalubong. They are also now offering baked goodies like Lengua de Gato and
alfajores, homemade ice cream, and strawberry-calamansi juice.
