Narrative Report on the Educational Tour in Baguio

Introduction

Baguio, known as the "Summer Capital of the Philippines," has a long-


standing history as a touristic destination in the country. The city's development
into a tourist hub dates back to the American colonial period when it was
established as a hill station in 1900 by the Americans due to its cooler climate.
This was aimed at providing a retreat for military personnel and expatriates who
were accustomed to cooler temperatures back home.

Over the years, Baguio has maintained its appeal due to its cool weather, scenic
landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. The city's tourism industry took off in
earnest post World War II, after the city had been rebuilt, having been heavily
damaged during the war.

MAJOR TOURIST SPOTS IN BAGUIO :

1. BURNHAM PARK

Burnham Park – Named after the American architect and urban planner, Daniel Hudson
Burnham, who laid out the city of Baguio. This park has been a recreational center from the
early days, offering boating, cycling, and walking activities amidst a serene environment.
2. THE MANSION

The Mansion – It serves as the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines.
Tourists often visit to view its elegant façade and lush gardens.

3. MINES VIEW

Mines View Park – Offers panoramic views of the region's mining towns and the Cordillera
mountains, which has been attracting visitors for decades.

strawberry season.

DAILY ACTIVITY

Day 1:

Our first visit is Strawberry Farm in Baguio, La Trinidad, which is a popular tourist
attraction with huge strawberry fields, giving visitors the opportunity to pick their own
strawberries. During peak harvesting season. The farm also cultivates tomatoes and vegetables.
Baguio's chilly weather makes it a great strawberry agricultural area, attracting both locals and
tourists for fresh produce.

Our second visit is the Bell Church in Baguio, which is an important landmark reflecting the

On the second day of our tour, the first destination is the Diplomat Hotel in Baguio.

one of the city's most intriguing landmarks. It is a fascinating blend of history, architecture, and
legend. Whether you're interested in its historical importance or wondering about the ghost
stories associated with it, the hotel remains a fascinating site in Baguio.

DAY 3:

After touring the Diplomat Hotel, we went to the next destination the Mansion and Wright Park
in Baguio, which are two important monuments. The Mansion and Wright Park are important
cultural and historical landmarks in Baguio. The Mansion represents the Philippines' leadership
and colonial past, while Wright Park, with its scenic beauty and recreational activities, is a
popular destination for both residents and visitors. The area offers a unique blend of history,
environment, and leisure, making it a must-see when visiting Baguio.

After seeing the Mansion and Wright Park, next comes the Mines View Park in Baguio, which is
a gorgeous and historically rich location. that offers guests breathtaking views of the
surrounding valleys and mountains, a peep into the region's mining history, as well as an
opportunity to learn about the indigenous people culture. It is a must-see place for people
interested in both the natural beauty and local culture. the city of Baguio.

The next visit is the Botanical Garden in Baguio, which is a beautiful and serene spot. is a
beautiful and tranquil attraction that highlights the city's rich natural environment. focuses on

REFLECTION

During our tour of Baguio City, I had the opportunity to see several incredible destinations,
each with its own distinct offering. One of the highlights was visiting numerous local attractions,
which made me understand how important eco-friendly tourism is. It was encouraging to see
how good practices may benefit both the environment and local populations. We finished our
fantastic day at Burnham Park, a bustling area full of energy and bustle. The team provided
excellent customer service, demonstrating the importance of hospitality in the tourism business.
I especially appreciated interacting with locals and other visitors since it brought so much
richness to my experience and demonstrated the importance of community in creating our
travel adventures.
CONCLUSION

To conclude, my tour experience exploring the Bell Church, Strawberry Farm, Botanical Garden,
Mines View, and Burnham Park were all really enriching and eye-opening. I developed a better
awareness of the tourism industry's cultural, agricultural, conservation, and hospitality
components. Each day brought new insights and appreciation for the beauty of the destinations
