This reflection paper discusses the author's experience visiting Purok Asinan, Barangay Buayan with classmates and instructors to conduct an educational integration. During the visit, the author gained several realizations from interviewing two local families. Both families had faced many hardships and unfortunate circumstances that led to their current situations, such as not finishing their education, becoming young parents, and lacking stable jobs or careers. However, despite their difficulties, both families maintained strong faith in God and were satisfied with their lives and caring for their children. Reflection

In life's journey, we often encounter moments that leave a lasting impact, prompting us to
pause and reflect on our experiences. Whether it be personal triumphs, challenges overcome, or
moments of profound realization, each episode contributes to our growth and understanding of
ourselves and the world around us. This reflection paper delves into our own journey to Purok Asinan,
Barangay Buayan with my fellow classmates, instructor, and other students to conduct our educational
integration.

Life, at times, unfolds in ways that defy our sense of justice, reminding us that fairness is not
always inherent, some sail with favorable winds, guided by the currents of privilege, while others
navigate stormy seas, facing adversity and battling against the waves of inequality. It was truly an
extraordinary adventure, going to Barangay Asinan meeting the local residents, and hearing their life
stories was an eventful experience for me, because we got to hear their side of the story that no one has
ever heard of.

Going there has given me several realizations that helped me grasp the situation of the residents
of Barangay Buayan. Traveling from the NDDU campus to the barangay took us more or less than 25
minutes and the road going there is not even cemented yet, so we can imagine the dust dispersing to
the air as cars and jeeps going through the road, especially in summer where the heat intensify, and it is
certain that the villagers commuting in and out of the barangay will get to experience these unfortunate
circumstances that may as well affect their health. So, the thought of our RE 113 professors fundraising,
whenever there is an educational integration keeps me at ease.

Upon arriving there we were tasked to interview two families in the barangay. Interviewing
them is a heartwarming and heartbreaking experience, as they both share their own stories on how
their life became what it is today. Talking to them helps me learn something about life, it Is that in every
action, circumstance, and decision we make whether it is a bad one or a good one there will always be a
motive and a reason behind it, we will have just to make it so that it is worth fighting for, that is the first
thing that come up to my mind. The residents we interviewed had many upbringings and unfortunate
circumstances that brought them to their state, both of them didn’t finish their education, and one of
them became a parent at an early age, both of them don’t have permanent jobs or careers, and all they
can think of is how can they support their family and how can they survive in a year. Life had been hard
for them, stomping them to their lowest. Some would assume that they were depressed, sad, or
blaming God for their circumstances in life, but, to my surprise, it is the complete opposite, despite the
adversities and predicament they’re in, they still have a strong faith in God, believing in his guidance and
blessings, and certainly they are satisfied to the life they have now, but if opportunities arise, they would
gladly accept it, the other one even said that just having to raise and support their children until they
can graduate and have a life they dreamed of is enough for him. The common thing that I notice based
on both of their statements is that, just by being together with their family, and as long as they are
happy it is enough for them.

In the intricate dance of existence, life reveals itself as a mosaic of diverse experiences and
challenges, where our responses to privilege, adversity, and the unpredictable twists of fate shape the
very essence of who we are. As we navigate the tapestry of our individual journeys, let us carry forward
the lessons learned, the resilience gained, and the empathy cultivated. For in the symphony of life, each
note contributes to the melody of our shared humanity, reminding us that, ultimately, it is the richness
of our collective experiences that defines the beauty of the human spirit.
