Final Reflection
English 2210 Professional and Technical Communication has been an amazing course to
learn how to better communicate in a professional setting which is important to know for real life
settings whether it be within an education format, career, or everyday document there have been
various things that have been learned throughout this semester in this course. These skills consist
of creating a resume, forming an instructional video, writing a formal company/response letter,
and also design a business proposal have all been amazing skills learned that will equip us
students for future writing and communication opportunities that will arise. Let’s observe the
different SLO’S throughout the semester and what we learned through each one.
(SLO): Organizational Design: This SLO demonstrated and taught me that when
creating instructional information, it is important to research for the project being distributed.
This helped me in my instructional video because it gave me valid points to utilize in the project
and also format my project in a way that is technically valid in a professional setting.
(SLO): Written Communication: When reflecting on this SLO, it was my responsibility
to create a dialog that was formatted in a professional tone with little to no errors, and giving
thought to how the audience of the project would react. This is a helpful reminder to be mindful
of the little details in a project.
(SLO): Visual Communication: This SLO was an important factor to understand and
put into practice because the visual design factors present various diagrams that provide a

friendly and different outlet other than words which is a good factors for various professional
documents like the ones we did in this class.
(SLO): Project Planning: This is a very important aspect in a career setting or even in
school because when creating projects, it’s key to plan and prepare for various aspects of that
specific project. This is helpful to understand when being in a career field.
(SLO): Project Analysis: When reflecting on this SLO it has been interesting to analyze
what is needed for a project and how to compose technical documents for different situations and
audiences. Whatever the context might be it is important to follow through with a wise follow-up
with the project.
(SLO): Content Development: When creating content for various projects like the ones
in this class, developing the content within each one of them is an important factor that takes
time and work when providing a specific technical genre.
(SLO): Reviewing and Editing: Reflecting back on this SLO, it’s important to note that
sometimes some stylistic choices or mediums don’t work and you might need to revise some
technical errors to create a solid professionally sounded document like the ones we did in class.
(SLO): Content Management: Throughout this class we also utilized very different
mediums and platforms to create the best projects and when doing this it has helped create
properly formatted documents which is a solid understanding of information to know.
(SLO): Production and Delivery: Presenting in this class took some trial and error
where there are strengths and weaknesses when it came down to this SLO where the media labs
helped with overcoming the presentations utilized in class and for the future. This English class
helped a lot in all of these areas which was so amazing about English 2210.

I wanted to simplify the design of my project and make it an easy instructional video to follow.
When it comes down to the research of my project, everything that was discussed is Biblical. The
research behind the information has lined up with complete accuracy in which the instructions
given can be trusted which is important for technical and professional documents. “When you
die, will you go to heaven?” is a very strong personal question that has much importance, but
when it comes down to the research behind this, one can have full assurance with the evidence
and research about Jesus that has been analyzed. The 1. 2. 3. A. B. C. method helps the audience
make a decision in the simplest way possible and understand it in an easy way.
Composing a clear message was important to create for the audience because a message as
serious as this requires details and responsibility to get the point across. Paying attention to make
sure everything that was said was truthful is of much importance because I want people to be on
the right path and be informed to make the best decision that anyone could make.

The kind of plan or pre-writing that I did for this project was mostly creating the letter and then
formatting with the proper professionalism and look of an actual complaint letter from a
company. This looked like properly giving the correct resolution and answers for the customer
while also professionally formatting the letter. This was a good part of the planning process
because having the proper format while professionally providing a resolution was important. I
didn’t do a ton of research for this project because I took the standpoint of a CEO or customer
service representative to provide a solution. This was a very important technical document when
it comes down to understanding company letters in which this was a good project to compose.
The people within this course, my professor, and my imaginary customer are all a part of my
audience because the company response letter provides proper understanding of how it should be
written. The audience was identified by greeting the customer in my response letter, but also the
people who view this company letter are viewing the letter. To form a better understanding of the
audience it was important to create a professionally formed letter. Viewing some formats on the
internet was what contributed to the format of my letter and also seeing how they added
professionalism to their company letter. The final project was important in a real life context
because in the event that i actually need to make a company letter this is important to know.
The kind of genre-specific conventions utilized in my final projects was directed to a
professional tone. This impacted my writing choices and strategies because in the context of a
real life complaint, it’s important to know these strategies and conventions. When providing
information to resolve the complaint developing the content was wise to put the words in a

professional setting. Furthermore, developing the content with wise strategies created a solid
document that ultimately resolv
When it comes down to reviewing and editing for this project, I approached this project for my
rough draft to put the main points of my proposal and then later come back to the project and
revise the main points and express them in greater detail when it comes down to the final draft. It
will be a little different reviewing and editing my written proposal compared to the presentation
of my proposal because for the written proposal I can go back in and edit certain words and or
sentences that need changing. Though, for the communicative presentation, I may need to restart
the video until I can effectively speak about the proposal and have a good flow for the
presentation. When it comes down to the style of my proposal, I wanted to make a simple and
easy to read proposal, but also looked professional so that people would be persuaded to take
action for my proposal. This simple yet professional style required formatting techniques that
would meet the needs of the audience be able to easily understand the content that is being
proposed to them.
In order to translate my written proposal into my presentation I will need to provide multimodal
information such as pictures in order to create a well informed and intriguing proposal
presentation. The differences that I noticed for delivering information in my proposal compared
to how I will present it in the presentation will be that the written proposal is less personal and
interactive whereas the presentation lets the audience feel more connected to the information

being given. Trying to avoid being too wordy will help, but obviously still providing the
information that is needed to get the proposals main message out to the audience. Utilizing
smooth transitions and wise tone decisions in my presentation is what will make all the
difference in the proposal being given to the audience. Lastly, it helps to divide the written
information in the proposal with titles and subtitles because they help engage the audience and
easily track what's being written. The presentation helps connect with the written proposal.
What I learned about creating a project using two modes of delivery is that they can help one or
the other be delivered to a greater extent for the audience. When turning my written proposal into
a visual presentation I have to keep in mind that I need to provide images and speech that will
help the audience know what is being discussed and understand the content of the proposal. I
will learn to be able to utilize different mediums that can work together for the greater good and
for professional purposes as well. I think finding easier platforms to create verbal presentations
with clear visuals and not blurry videos would be something that could help this project, but
overall, I like the usage of Word to be able to create written proposals in a simple yet intriguing
and attention-grabbing way. I think what I love the most about my proposal and project as a
whole is the content of the written proposal and what is being given to the audience. I do also
enjoy that the format helps with giving this information in an easy way and provides the
audience with a message of h
