The result of the world is getting more and more advanced, many people in this world
have started to learn new languages so that they can communicate well with other people. There
are two main approaches to acquiring a language which are learning with a tutor and learning by
oneself. Hence, both ways of learning share the same similarities where both of them are
expensive, have plenty of sources and help in building connections with others.
First and foremost, both methods of learning are expensive. When someone chooses to
learn a language with a tutor, they must either employ a language tutor or register in language
lessons to gain a deeper understanding of that language. It will cost between US$13.50 and
US$24 per hour to hire a teacher, and between US$49 and US$80 per hour to get private sessions
(Admin, 2018). However, learning a language by oneself needs the learner to pay for certain
apps. These apps will assist learners in learning new material that will increase their language
proficiency. But, utilizing an app requires the user to subscribe to the premium plan in order to
access many more benefits, and this will be very expensive. For instance, Patterson (2022)
claims that apps like WaniKani will charge $299 for a lifetime subscription and Lingvist apps
will cost around $9.99 per month . Briefly, both learning methods can cost their students a lot of
money.
Next, learning a new language with a tutor and by oneself have a variety of sources to
look for new information. By learning with a tutor, people can refer to their teachers if they got
questions or they can ask their friends that took the same class with them. For example, finding a
language study partner will enable you to collaborate with someone else to gain a greater
understanding about the language (Harris, n.d.). This may inspire them even more to keep
studying the language. In the same way, learning a language by oneself also provides a variety of
sources. One’s can use many sources to answer their misunderstandings about language learning.
Shnaider (2021) states that one’s can buy textbooks because there are a plethora of decent
textbooks available at bookstores, and one can also rely on video blogs to learn a new language.
Thus, both methods of learning give their students a wide range of resources to explore.
Last, both ways of learning a new language help to build more connections with other
people. Wagers (2022) states that learning a new language with a tutor gives the learner countless
chances to interact and connect with others. This is also a fantastic opportunity for them to widen
their social network. To illustrate, one can communicate with other students in their class like
speak to them or practice the language with them and this will help build more bonds with other
people. On the other hand, learning a new language by oneself also helps in building more bonds
with others. Learning a new language makes the learner have the ability to speak using more
than one language. The languages that have been learned can be used when they go to other
countries and this make them have the ability to communicate with people there. To demonstrate,
people who learned france language can communicate with people in France easily without
experiencing the language barrier and this situation helps them in making bonds with others.
Overall, both technique of learning language helps the learner to build a connection with other
people.
In summary, it is clear that both ways of learning a new language share the same
similarities which are both of them were expensive, have numerous sources and helps build link
with others. Therefore, everyone should begin learning a new language because doing so will
make them more at ease in the future and because learning multiple languages has many
advantages for the learner.
