Introduction
You’re about to embark on an exhilarating language-learning adventure…
destination: fluency! 🚀
But to reach fluency, you need to establish an enjoyable daily language-
learning routine...

...that’s where this study guide comes in!

Keep in mind that this guide is not

set in stone; you have the flexibility
to tailor it to your unique learning
style and preferences.

In fact, we encourage you to

make it your own! ✨

MODULE 1 - Introduction

Our 4-Step Method

The learning approach you’ll find in this guide is based on the
Fluent Forever 4-Step Method:

Step 1: Train your ears with pronunciation lessons.

Your first job will be to rewire your ears so that foreign words stop
sounding so… foreign! 🥴

Step 2: Learn vocabulary through images instead of translations.

The visual approach enhances your language acquisition.

(Remember, these are suggestions, feel free to explore other methods
if visuals aren't your thing).

Step 3: Learn grammar naturally through stories relevant to you.

Master grammar intuitively through sentences that matter to you. No

more slogging through boring and complex grammar rules.

Step 4: Practice your speech to fluency with native tutors.

Hone your speaking skills with native tutors. Real conversations, real
progress, and real connections with native speakers!

Introduction complete!
So... let’s get down to business. 👩‍💻

MODULE 2 - Your daily learning routine

Day 1:

On your first day, read through this guide. It will lay a solid foundation
for your language learning journey over the next few months.

Setting your goals is next. While the dream of mastering a language in a

month is alluring, let's be practical. 😉
Why not break your ambitious goals
into manageable weekly actions?

For instance, if you aim to learn 200

French words, try setting a goal of
learning just 10 words per week.
This approach will help you stay
motivated and set achievable goals!

Day 2-21:
In the first three weeks, you’ll focus on fine-tuning your listening skills using
‘minimal pairs’.

Minimal Pairs are word pairs differing by only one sound, enhancing your listening
and pronunciation.

Here at Fluent Forever, we're all about flashcards. So we've got something cool for
you: a free Model Deck for use in Anki with a template for minimal pair flashcards.
Time saved: many hours! 🕒
You can start crafting your flashcards right away following the instructions in this
article.

During this time, you’ll also delve into spelling
patterns. Lucky for you, the deck we shared

for different languages. It's a real treasure trove! (Plus, you can enjoy some fun
pronunciation lessons to get
you started!)

Day 21-56:
With your ear training complete (usually 2-3 weeks), your next goal is to start thinking
in your target language. 💭
Many people tend to memorize translations when learning new words - and this is a
habit worth breaking early!

We suggest you begin with simple words. To help you with this, we created a free list
with some of the most frequent words you’ll encounter in any language, and they’re all
relatively easy to learn using pictures.

MODULE 2 - Your daily learning routine

Day 56+
Once you've got a good handle on the vocabulary
essentials, feel free to dive into grammar
whenever you're comfortable and ready to
explore it.

'Grammar' can be daunting for many, often linked

to confusing rules and charts. But for us,
'grammar' simply means 'learning words
intuitively in the context of sentences.'

Suppose you have already learned the words “perro” (dog), “gato” (cat), and
“perseguir” (to chase).

Then you ran into a sentence like this one:

“Ayer, mi perro persiguió a mi gato.”

Yesterday, my dog chased (to/towards) my cat.

If you found this sentence interesting, then you could use it to learn a bunch of
things:

Vocabulary “ayer” (yesterday), “mi” (my), “a” (to/towards)

Word forms: “persiguió” (chased)
Word order: What’s the missing word in the sentence?
“Ayer, mi perro persiguió __ mi gato.”

Initially, it's helpful to have translations to grasp word functions

in a sentence. This is where translation comes in handy.

The great news is that as you understand each word's role in a

sentence, then you can start creating flashcards to help you
learn grammar with pictures.

Now that you're in the loop on how to set up your learning routine, we will give
you a clear visual guide so it's super easy to put these steps into action! 🚀

Ok, so what’s next?

The next pages will feature your monthly calendar.

It's like your personal guide, and every day we're going to give you little tasks to
tackle. These will consist of:

🗓️ Daily tasks (tasks you should be completing every day)

🏆 Extra credit (optional tasks)
If you complete these tasks every day, your learning will be on track!

PAGE 13
MODULE 3 - How do I use this guide?

But here's the really fun part: if the tasks for the day don't quite hit the spot, or you're
just not feeling them, no worries! At the bottom of the calendar, there's a list of
alternative tasks. You can swap them for something you prefer from there. It's all
about making your learning journey work for you!

In this calendar, you can also write your personal monthly goals, the things you are
enjoying most about your learning journey, what you have found most challenging,
and even what you’ve noticed about the language and how it’s different to your
native one.

It's as easy as pie. All you've gotta do is stick to your calendar, make it your own
with all the tweaks you like, and most importantly, have a blast along the journey!

And that's it! 😀

Fingers crossed you find this guide valuable! We hope it sets you on the path to
creating an awesome learning routine to master the language you've always
wanted to learn. Good luck! 🤞
