Portfolio Advanced 5 - Fabiola Ore

Fabiola presents her portfolio containing work from her Advanced 5 class over the past month. This includes mental maps on various grammar topics taught by her teacher such as gerunds, infinitives, modification of nouns, adjective clauses, and essays. She explains that essays require using the vocabulary and topics studied in class. One writing sample discusses her general good health but areas for improvement like reducing sugar intake and stress from long work hours. Another writing reflects on poor study habits and plans to improve sleep, take notes in class, change late night study times, and get advice from friends with good study routines.

FROM GRAMMAR TO WRITING UNIT 10

WRITING 1

How is my health? Overall, I think it's reasonably good, although there is certainly
room for improvement.
My diet is good in general, though I should reduce sugar, I try to reduce sugar in my
drinks, but it is difficult for me, I love sugar, but I know I need to cut down on sugar
because it's bad for my health.
My diet is based on always eating salad with quinoa or fish with rice and drinking a cup
of tea. I usually eat a vegetarian sandwich, an apple and a glass of juice for breakfast.
As for exercise, I used to go to the gym, but because of the pandemic I couldn't go
anymore, so I only exercise at home or go for a run in the mornings with my dogs. A
lot of people go for a run with their dogs, so I think it is nice to go for a run in the
mornings.
The area in which my health needs improvement is work. I work too many hours every
week, even now that everything is done virtually, the work consumes me even more.
I'm a communication teacher, but I don't know why this year they put me in the math
area, so I feel more stressed about it. Mathematics is difficult for everyone, but I think
a little more for myself. My uncle is a doctor, so he is helping me with that. Both work
and health are important in life.
PART C
WRITING 2

The amount of stress I have from not having good study habits is very annoying, so I
need to improve my study habits. The first thing I have to do is get more sleep. I do
most of my studies late at night and I don't go to bed until 2:00 a.m. I wake up at 5:30
AM. because my school is far from my home, so I'm tired all day. When I try to study, I
have very little energy, so I don't remember many of the things I work on.
Another thing I need to work on is to take more notes in class. All of my teachers have
said I can use my laptop to take notes in class, so I’m going to start using it. I was
amazed by the number of people use their laptop to take notes.
I have a lot of energy at night, and I think it's because my body got used to staying up
late, since I study until 2 a.m. but I need to improve and change that habit. I have a
roommate, he has lived with me for years, but he has few friends and little social
interaction, but despite that he has very good study habits, and he has given me some
good advice to study, for example make concept maps, to all the classes I've had, so
thanks to that advice I made fewer mistakes in this week's test.
Many friends I know have good study habits, so I asked them for some advice.
How much time do you have to study? That is the question my friends asked me, so
when I answered them, they gave me some advice.
