Hello,
My name is Makayla Neill. I am writing this in hopes of being considered to be a teacher in your
school district. I am in my fourth year at South Dakota State University, enrolled in the COOP
program with Dakota State for elementary education.
My in-classroom experiences for Dakota State and South Dakota State have helped me develop
new skills and teaching philosophies that have helped prepare me to be a teacher in your district.
I have gained experience in my placement in the Fishback Center on the South Dakota State
campus in inquiry and pedagogical-based learning, which has proven beneficial for younger
children and can be used when working with elementary-aged students. I have strengths in
communication, building relationships, leadership, and organization. I am excited to be a part of
a student's growth in and out of the classroom. My coursework at South Dakota State has helped
me develop skills and ideas I bring to each classroom. These skills allow me to encourage and
help students develop a love for learning as I help them build up their skills in all academic
areas. I am interested in being involved in after-school programs to build better connections with
the students and support personal growth outside the classroom.
I am excited and honored to be considered for a teaching position in your district. Thank you and
I am excited to hear from you and to get into a classroom.
