Weekly Weather Report for Gujarat state and Diu, Daman Dadra Nagar Haveli for the week ending on
17.07.2024.

MAIN FEATURES:

Weather realised during 24 hour ending at 0830 hours IST of the date
Monsoon was active over Gujarat region on 13.07.2024; over Gujarat region and Saurashtra- Kutch on
15.07.2024; over Saurashtra- Kutch on 16.07.2024.

Extremely heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of South Gujarat region namely Surat on
16.07.2024.

Very heavy rainfall occurred over Daman on 12.07.2024; in the districts of Gujarat region namely Valsad, Navsari & in
Dadara Nagar Haveli on 13.07.2024; in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Valsad & Navsari on 14.07.2024; in
the district of South Gujarat region namely Surat on 15.07.2024; places in the district of South Gujarat region namely
Bharuch and Narmada on 16.07.2024; at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra namely Rajkot, Junagadh &
Gir Somnath on 17.07.2024.

Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Anand, Surat, Valsad and Navsari on
12.07.2024; in the districts of Gujarat region namely Panchmahal, Surat, Tapi, Valsad and Navsari on 13.07.2024; in the
districts of South Gujarat region namely Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari and Daman on 14.07.2024; in the districts of South
Gujarat region namely Aravalli & Dahod on 15.07.2024; in the districts of Gujarat region namely Sabarkantha,
Panchmahal, Anand, Navsari and Surat; in the district of Saurashtra namely Amreli on 16.07.2024; at isolated
places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Sabarkantha, and Banaskantha; in the district of Saurashtra
namely Dwarka on 17.07.2024.

SYNOPTIC SITUATION:

Last week’s cyclonic circulation over Kutch extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level tilting south westwards with
height became less marked on 11.07.20204.

Last week’s shear zone ran roughly along 18°N at 5.8 km above mean sea level on 11.07.20204, became less marked on
12.07.2024.

A cyclonic circulation lay over North Gujarat & neighbourhood between 3.1 & 5.8 km above mean sea level on
13.07.2024, lay over Gujarat at 5.8 km above mean sea level on 14.07.2024; became less marked on 15.07.2024.

A cyclonic circulation lay over Southwest Pakistan & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level on 15.07.2024,
became less marked on 16.07.2024.

Last week’s off-shore trough at mean sea level ran along south Gujarat - north Kerala coasts on 11.07.20204 &
12.07.2024; ran along Maharashtra-north Kerala coasts on 13.07.2024; ran along South Gujarat-north Kerala coasts on
14.07.2024; persisted on 15.07.2024, 16.07.2024, 17.07.2024

A Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level ran
roughly along Long. 70°E to the north of Lat. 30°N on 13.07.2024; persisted on 14.07.2024; ran roughly along Long. 72°E
to the north of Lat. 32°N on 15.07.2024, persisted on 16.07.2024, persisted on 17.07.2024

A shear zone ran roughly along 20°N between 3.1 & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height on
15.07.2024, ran roughly along 19°N between 3.1 & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height on
16.07.2024; runs roughly along 20°N between 3.1 & 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height on
17.07.2024.

A cyclonic circulation lay over Saurashtra & Kutch and neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level on 17.07.2024.
