Exceptionally heavy rainfall occurred at isolated in Navsari district of South Gujarat region on 26.087.2024; in
Panchmahal district of North Gujarat region, Morbi district of Saurashtra on 27.08.2024;in Dwarka and
Jamnagar on 28.08.2024
Extremely heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of South Gujarat region namely Valsad,
Surat, Navsari, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli on 25.08.2024; in the district of Gujarat region namely
Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dang,Valsad; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Rajkot and Surendranagar
26.08.2024; in districts of Gujarat region namely Ananad, Kheda, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, and Vadodara; at
isolated in districts of Saurashtra-Kutch region namely Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Rajkot, Surendranagar and in
Kutch 27.08.2024; in districts of at isolated in districts of Saurashtra-Kutch region namely Dwarka, Jamnagar,
Rajkot and in Porbandar.28.08.2024
   •   Very heavy rainfall occurred at a few places in the district of Gujarat region namely Dang,Surat,
       Navsari, Kheda, Narmada, Dahod. Tapi, Mahisagar, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota-Udepur, Aravalli, Valsad,
       Panchmahal, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli;in district of Saurashtra namely Morbi, Rajkot and
       Surendranagar 26.08.2024; in the district of Gujarat region namely Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar,
       Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Dang,
       and in Dadara Nagar Haveli; in all the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Rajkot,
       Jamnagar, Amreli, and Botad.27.08.2024; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Jamnagar,
       Junagadh, Morbi, Porbandar and Rajkot in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Jamnagar, Junagadh,
       Morbi, Porbandar and Rajkot over Saurashtra & Kachchh moved westwards with a speed of 12 kmph during
       past 6 hours and lay centered at 0830 hours IST of today, the 28th August over the same region near latitude
       23.7°N and longitude 69.7°E, 50 km north-northwest of Bhuj (Gujarat), 100 km east-northeast of Naliya (Gujarat)
       and 290 km east-southeast of Karachi (Pakistan)..
   •   Very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of North Gujarat region namely Kheda,
       Banaskantha, Gandhinagar and Mehsana on 24.08.2024; in the district of Gujarat region namely
       Mahisagar, Mehsana, Dahod, Narmada, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, Sarat, Valsad and Chhota Udepur and
       Dadra Nagar Haveli on 25.08.2024.
   •   Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of North Gujarat region namely Anand on
       22.08.2024; in the district of North Gujarat region namely Aravalli on 23.08.2024; in the district of
       Gujarat region namely Kheda, Aravalli, Sabarkantha, Panchmahal, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar,
       Mahisagar, Ahmedabad, Chhota Udepur, Narmada and Bharuch; in the district of Saurashtra namely
       Amreli on 24.08.2024; in the district of Gujarat region namely Dahod, Patan, Anand, Panchmahal,
       Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Mahisagar, Sabarkantha, Tapi, Surat, Chhota Udepur,
       Navsari, Narmada and Bharuch & in the districts of Saurashtra namely Gir Somnath, Junagadh and
        Amreli on 25.08.2024; at isolated places in Kheda district of North Gujarat region; in the districts of
        Saurashtra-Kutch Amreli, Botad, Gir-Somnath, Junagadh, Morbi, Rajkot and in Kutch on 28.08.2024.
        Heavy rainfall at a few places in the district of Gujarat region namely Vadodara, Dahod, Panchmahal,
        Chhota-Udepur, Navsari, Kheda, Valsad, Anand, Narmada, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Tapi, Gandhinagar,
        Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Surat, Bharuch, Ahmedabad and in Daman; in the districts of Saurashtra Kutch
        namely Surendranagar, Rajkot Morbi, Botad and Kutch 26.08.2024; in the district of Gujarat region
        namely Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal,
        Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dang, Navsari, and in Dadara Nagar Haveli; in
        all the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli,
        Dwarka, Botad, Kutch on 27.08.2024.
SYNOPTIC SITUATION:
Last week’s cyclonic circulation over northeast Arabian sea adjoining Gujarat between 4.5 & 5.8 km above
mean sea level has become less marked on 22.08.2024.
    • A Monsoon trough at mean sea level passed through Sri Ganganagar, Rohtak, Orai, Siddhi, Gaya,
   centre of low-pressure area over north Bangladesh & neighbourhood and thence to east-southeastwards to
   northeast Bay of Bengal and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level on 22.08.2024 ; passed through
    Bikaner, Sikar, Orai, Churk, Dehri, centre of low-pressure area over northern parts of West Bengal and adjoining areas
    of northeast Jharkhand and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal and extends up to 0.9 km above
    mean sea level on 23.08.2024; passed through Jaisalmer, Kota, Khajuraho, centre of low-pressure area over
    southeast Uttar Pradesh & adjoining northwest Madhya Pradesh, Ranchi, Contai and thence southeastwards
    to northeast Bay of Bengal on 24.08.2024; passed through Jaisalmer, centre of depression over
        northwest Madhya Pradesh, Sidhi, Chaibasa, Digha and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of
    •      Bengal on 25.08.2024; passed through Jaisalmer, centre of depression over East Rajasthan, Guna,
        Sidhi, Daltonganj, Well Marked Low-Pressure Area over Gangetic West Bengal and thence
        southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal on 26.08.2024; passed through centre of deep depression
        over north Gujarat, Sagar, centre of Low-Pressure Area over northwest Jharkhand, Digha
       and thence southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal 27.08.2024; passed through centre of deep depression
       over Saurashtra & Kutch, Udaipur, Shivpuri, Churk, Daltonganj, Digha and thence southeastwards to
       Eastcentral Bay of Bengal on 28.08.2024.
A low pressure area lay over east central Arabian sea off Maharashtra coast with associated cyclonic circulation extended
up to 3.1 km above mean sea level tilting southwest wards with height on 23.08.2024; It moved nearly westwards and
lay as well marked low pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh & adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh with
the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level on 24.08.2024; it further
intensified into depression over northwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood moved westwards during past 3
hours and lay centered over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east about 60 km west-southwest of to
Guna (West Madhya Pradesh) and 120 km southeast of Kota (East Rajasthan) on 25.08.2024; over East Rajasthan
moved west-southwestwards with a speed of 12 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred over East Rajasthan near latitude
23.8°N and longitude 73.6 °E, about 90 km south of Udaipur (East Rajasthan), 150 km east-southeast of Deesa (Gujarat)
and 130 km northeast of Ahmedabad (Gujarat)on 26.08.2024; over north Gujarat moved slowly westwards with a speed of
5 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered over the same region near latitude 23.8°N and longitude 72.0 °E, about 10
km west of Patan, 50 km south-southwest of Deesa (Gujarat), 100 km north-northwest of Ahmedabad (Gujarat), 120 km
north-northeast of Surendranagar (Gujarat) and 230 km east-northeast of Bhuj (Gujarat) on 27.08.2024; over Saurashtra
& Kachchh moved westwards with a speed of 12 kmph during past 6 hours lay centered over the same region near latitude
23.7°N and longitude 69.7°E, 50 km north-northwest of Bhuj (Gujarat), 100 km east-northeast of Naliya (Gujarat) and 290
km east-southeast of Karachi (Pakistan)28.08.2024
An offshore trough ran from the low pressure area over east central Arabian sea off Maharashtra coasts to north Kerala
coast on 23.08.2024; ran from south Gujarat to south Kerala coast on 24.08.2024; ran from south Gujarat to north
Kerala coast on 25.08.2024 and 26.08.2024; ran from south Gujarat to central Kerala coast on 27.08.2024
on 28.08.2024.
