ARTICLE ONE

SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION

i. This constitution is supreme and its provision shall have binding force on
all Members of the Association.
ii. SOSSAN shall not be governed nor shall a member or group of member
take executive running of the Association, except in accordance with the
provision of this constitution
iii. The executive power sovereignty of SOSSAN shall be vested on the
SOSSAN from whom the administration of the Association through this
constitution derives all its power and authority.

ARTICLE TWO

SECTION 1: NAME

The Association shall be known and address as “SOCIAL SCIENCE STUDENTS


ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (SOSSAN)” and shall also be referred to as The
Association in this constitution.

SECTION 2: CITATION

This constitution shall be cited as “THE CONSTITUTION OF THE SOCIAL


SCIENCE STUDENTS ASSOCIATON OF NIGERIA (SOSSAN) FUW”

SECTION 3: MOTTO

Social unity and creativity in diversity

SECTION 4: LOGO

The logo of the Association shall be as appeared on the cover page of this
constitution.

The general meeting of the Association shall be known and addressed as


“Congress”.

ARTICLE THREE

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

i. To promote the studies of social sciences students in FUW


ii. To promote cordial relationship between students and staff of the University
Community
iii. To promote positive interaction with other similar groups within and outside
the university.
iv. To encourage Academic excellent social relationship among students.
v. To project the good image of the faculty to the outside world through
publications, workshops, seminars, symposia and excursions
vi. To promote the welfare and process of learning for students of the faculty
vii. To protect the interest of the faculty and the University at large

ARTICLE FOUR

SECTION1: MEMBERSHIP

Membership shall be opened to all students of the faculty who are duly registered
with a fee to be determined by the executives subject to approval by The Dean and
certified to be a member.

SECTION 2: HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

Honorary membership shall be opened to all personalities within the faculty as


appointed by the President subject to the approval of the congress.

ARTICLE FIVE

STRUCTURE OF SOSSAN

The structure of The Association shall be such that there is; Executive Members,
sub-committees and part leaders.

ARTICLE SIX

THE EXECUTIVE BODY/COUNCIL

SECTION 2: POWER AND DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

6(2), 1: THE PRESIDENT

The president shall:


a. Preside over both executive council and general Congress meeting
b. Schedule meetings and prepare agenda for such meetings in conjunction
with the general secretary
c. Represent the Association at any other meetings and be the chief spoke man
of the Association.
d. Ensures that all programs and approved proposals are duly implemented.
e. Be principle signatory to the Association’s Bank Account(s).
f. Ensures that every official carry out his/her duties efficiently and effectively.
g. Assign any officer to carry out any function at any time for the progress of
the Association
h. Have power to decide on issues which this constitution is silent.
i. Have power to take emergency decisions on issues that need urgent actions.
j. Be principal signatory to all correspondence.
k. Delegate any member of the Executive to represent the Association based on
the congress decision.
l. Give account of stewardship:
a. During congress meetings
b. At the expiration of His/her tenure

6(2), 2: THE VICE PRESIDENT

a. Shall act as the president in absence of the president.


b. Shall advice and assist the president in all duties.
c. Liaise with all standing committee

d. Shall perform other duties that may be assigned to him or her from time-to-
time.

6(2), 3: THE GENERAL SECRETARY SHALL

a. In conjunction with the president, summon all meetings through the P.R.O
using writing method or modern technology.
b. In conjunction with the president, draw up agendas for all congress and
executive meeting.
c. Be responsible for compilation of reports correspondence, recording of
activities, minutes of meetings and proper record keeping of The Association
documents and read same when required of him/her
d. At the end of tenure submit a comprehensive report on The Association
activities, assets, books of Accounts for the tenure.
e. Be one of the signatories to the Association’s Bank Account(s).
f. Be responsible for all in-coming and out-going correspondence.
g. Preside over both executive member and congress meetings in absence of
the president and the vice president.
h. Discharge any other duty as may be assigned to him/her from time-to-time

6(2), 4: THE ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY SHALL

a. Assist the general secretary in all matters and act in his or her absence
b. Perform any other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Committee
Members.

6(2), 5: THE TREASURER SHALL

a. Be the chief custodian of The Association finances


b. Keep proper financial records, financial receipts, expenditures and books of
account including cheque and passbooks e.t.c.

c. Issue or collect receipts in respect of all financial transactions of The
Association.
d. Received all income of the Association collected by the financial secretary.
e. Keep an impress of not more than The Thousand naira (N 10,000).
f. Deposit all cash of The Association within 48 hours of receipt in The
Association’s Bank Account(s).
g. Be one of the signatories of the Association’s bank account (s)
h. Release all money as approved by The Association Committee Members or
through The Association General congress
i. Be one of the signatories to The Association bank account(s)
j. Keep an impress of five thousand naira (N 5,000)only
k. Advise the Committee Members and Congress on all financial matters
l. Perform other related duties

6(2), 6: THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY SHALL

a. Keep record of all income and expenditures


b. Collect all funds and Dues of the Association and remit same to the treasurer
within 24 hours of collection
c. Issue or collect receipts in respect of all financial transactions of The
Association in collaboration with the treasurer.
d. Be one of the signatories of the Association’s bank account (s)
e. Prepare and present financial reports annually and at the end of his or her
tenure or as may be demanded by the congress or executive council
f. Ensure preparation of payment voucher for any expenditure before approval
by the president.
g. Give financial advice to the executive council or Congress
h. Perform any other related functions as may be assigned to him/her.

6(2), 7: THE PROVOST MARSHALL SHALL
a. Ensure orderliness during meetings in line with the provision of the
constitution.
b. Perform other duties as may be assigned to him or her by the Committee
Members or congress

6(2), 8: THE WELFARE OFFICER SHALL

a. Submit a proposal for any of gathering of the Association that shall involve
refreshment.
b. Advice the executive council and congress or The Association feeding
related matters.
c. Be in charge of welfare of the members of the Association
d. Perform all other duties as may be required of him or her.

6(2), 9: THE AUDITOR GENERAL

The auditor general shall:

a. Chair the audit committee of the association.


b. Have power to audit and investigate any allegation of financial
misappropriation by any executive member of the association.
c. In collaboration with the audit committee, audit the accounts of the
association as presented by the executives at the end of semester.
d. Have access to all books of accounts of the association including vouchers,
receipts e.t.c.
e. Be responsible to the congress.
f. Act independent of the executive council during any financial investigation
or account auditing.

g. Have right to report the financial secretary to the association’s patron(s) for
action in case of default in submitting all statements of accounts to him/her
(Auditor General) at least a month to the last congress.
h. Place the audited account of the association on the notice board for public
consumption.

6(2), 10: DIRECTORS OF SPORTS

The Association shall have two male and one female Director of sports who shall:

i. Organize sporting activities for the association.


ii. Advice the executives on need to integrate the association with some other
associations through sports.
iii. Be responsible for the maintenance of the sporting of sporting kits and
apparatus.
iv. All the sports director (1, &2 ) work together

6(2), 11: THE LIBRARIAN

The librarian shall:

i. Be in charge of all SOSSAN educational materials including books,


journals, and other periodicals.
ii. Be responsible for lending out books from the Association’s library and
collection of such books.
iii. Be responsible for purchase of the Association’s library materials.

6(2), 12: DIRECTOR OF SOCIALS

i. The Association shall have two directors of social; a male and a female who
shall.
ii. Be in charge of all the social activities of the Association.

iii. Advice the executive council on the need to integrate the Association with
other bodies through social activities.
iv. Be in charge and maintain the Association’s social equipments.

6(2), 13: PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (P.R.O.)

The P.R.O. shall:

i. Propagate the activities of the association.


ii. Write and place on the notice board, the association activities.
iii. Be responsible for issuing News and Bulletins to the press after due
consultations with executive council.
iv. Be responsible for all publications of the Association
v. Be chairman of Almanac Committee, Communiqué Committee and all
other related image-making Committees.
vi. P.R.O. 1, &2 will work together

6(2), 14: GRAND PATRON AND PATRON OR MATRON

The Association shall have a grand patron who will be the Dean of the faculty and
a patron or a matron who shall be nominated by the congress, and such patron or
matron shall resides within Wukari metropolis. They shall:

i. Supervise the activities of the Association in accordance with this


constitution.
ii. Give advice on the running of the Association when and where necessary.
iii. Intervene and settle disputes that may arise within the association.
iv. Intervene on members academic and social challenges.
v. Do any other thing that shall be beneficial to and in the interest of the
Association.
ARTICLE SEVEN

ELECTION

SECTION 1: ELIGIBILITY STATUS OF CONTESTANT

Every student member of the association shall be eligible to contest election into
any designated Executive office subject to the following conditions:

i. That such contestant has spent at least one academic session in the Faculty.
ii. That such contestant is not in his/her final year of study. That is, final year
students are not eligible to contest for any position.
iii. That such contestant pays a non-refundable registration fee as may be
decided by the electoral committee from time to time based on economic
circumstance.
iv. That such contestant is a financial member. That is to say, he/she must not in
any form be indebted to the association.
v. That such contestant is properly screened by the electoral committee in line
with the election guidelines and procedures.
vi. Contestant for the post of president, secretary general, financial secretary
and treasurer should not have more than one carryover and at least not less
than 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
vii. Contestant for other positions aside the above listed should not have more
than two carryovers and not less than 3.00 CGPA.
viii. Any executive council member either at the faculty level or departmental
level who wishes to contest for any position so long as he/she is qualified
should resign at least one week prior to the election.
ix. For the purpose of administrative convenience, executive offices available
for contestants at various levels shall be as follows:
i. The president shall be from 300 level
ii. The vice president shall be open to 200level and 300level

iii. The secretary general shall be from 300 level
iv. The assistant secretary general shall be from 200 level
v. Financial secretary shall be from 300 level
vi. Treasurer shall be from 300 level
vii. Auditor general shall be from 200level and 300 level
viii.Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) shall be from 200 level and 300
ix. Director of socials; male shall be from 300 level and female shall be from
200 level.
x. Director of sports shall be open to both 200 level and 300level
xi. Liberian shall be from 300 level
xii. Director of welfare shall open for both 200level and 300level
xiii.Provost marshal shall be from 300 level
xiv.Grand patron: the Dean of the faculty
xv. Patron/matron: lecturers from the faculty
xvi.Staff adviser: lecturers from the faculty

SECTION 2: ZONING SYSTEM

The post of the president shall be rotational among the three departments in this
order;

Economics,

Political Science, and

Sociology.

SECTION 3: ELECTION/ VOTING OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL


MEMBERS

a. Election shall be conducted at the expiration of one academic session, five
(5) weeks before the commencement of second semester’s examinations
b. Voting shall be done by secret ballot system.
c. All members shall be eligible to vote except the members of the electoral
committee.
d. Each member shall have only one voting right per post on the presentation
of his/her SOSSAN receipt and FUW Student’s ID card.
e. Counting of the votes casted shall commence immediately after voting.
f. Each candidate shall have an Agent at the voting and counting center.
g. The electoral committee shall announce the result of the election
immediately after counting the votes and such results shall be displayed on
notice boards for public consumption.
h. In the case of a tie in the election, a bye election shall be conducted
immediately by the electoral committee.
i. A candidate shall be declared winner on a simple majority basis.
j. The electoral committee shall stand dissolved immediately after the
swearing in ceremony of the newly elected executive council members
k. The out-going committee members shall hand over to the newly elected
officers.
SECTION 4: ELECTORAL COMMITTEE

The electoral committees shall be composed of seven (7) members in the following
order: two (2) members from 400level; two (2) members from 300level; two
members from200level; and one (1) member from 100 level.

3(i) the chairman of the electoral committee shall be nominated from 400level by
the executive council and presented to the congress for approval

3(ii) the secretary shall be nominated from 300 level by the executive council and
presented to the congress for approval.

3(iii) the remaining members shall be nominated by the congress to form members
of the committee.

SECTION 5: FUNCTIONS OF THE ELECTORAL COMMITTEE

The decision of the electoral committee shall be final, except in cases where there
is dissatisfaction resulting in a written petition within twenty four (24) hours of the
announcement of the results of the election. Such petition shall be address to the
chairman of the electoral committee and copy to the patron or matron of the
association.

i. The electoral committee shall have power to screen and accept or reject
aspirant or contestant for registration based on constitutional provision.
ii. The electoral committee shall draws up a list of qualified contestants and
exhibits such list on notice boards 48 hours before the day of election.
iii. The electoral committee shall provide all the necessary electoral materials.
iv. The electoral committee shall draw up electoral requirements in line with the
provisions of this constitution.
v. The electoral committee shall determine the day for presentation of
manifestoes.
vi. The electoral committee shall carry out duties that will facilitate free and fair
election.
vii. the electoral committee shall have power to Sanction contestant whose
supporter(s) erred during campaign, manifesto and election

SECTION 6: ADMINISTRATION OF OATH OF OFFICE/SWEARING IN


AND HANDING OVER.

a. Handing over shall take place a week after the swearing in ceremony during
congress meeting scheduled for such handing over.
b. Every elected officer shall on assumption of office, take and ascribe to the
oath of office during the swearing in ceremony to be organized by the out-
going executive council and electoral committee.
c. The oath shall be administer by a certified legal practitioner (barrister)
d. Copy of the oath of office shall be attached to the constitution and be handed
over to each newly elected executive council member.
e. A copy of the oath of office shall be handed over to the newly elected
executive.
f. Both the outgoing and incoming executives must be present during the oath
taking /swearing in ceremony and during the handing over programme.

SECTION 7: BYE ELECTION

i. A bye election shall be conducted immediately to fill a vacant position that


has been created through resignation, impeachment, death or whatsoever
reason(s).
ii. A bye election shall be conduction in the same manner as fresh election.

ARTICLE EIGHT

TENURE OF OFFICE

a. All officers shall serve for a period of one academic session/


b. In the event of the election not taken place at the due time, a care taker
committee shall be constituted upon resolution during the Association
Congress meeting.
c. The care taker committee shall serve for the period of one month.

d. The primary function of the care taker committee is to constitute the
electoral committee.

ARTICLE NINE

SECTION 1: IMPEACHMENT

Any member of the executive council shall be removed from office by two third
majority vote of members present at the congress meeting where there are proven
cases of:

a. Incompetency in the discharge of constitutionally assigned duties.


b. Violation and negligence of constitutionally assigned responsibilities.
c. Disrespect and abuse of elected office.
d. Disloyalty to the Association.
e. Misappropriation or mismanagement of association funds
f. Abstention from three (3) consecutive meetings without reasonable excuses
acceptable to the executive council. Such executive member shall be first of
all given a written warning letter.

SECTION 2: PROCEDURES FOR IMPEACHMENT

Any executive member shall be impeached through the following procedures:

a. Submission of letter of impeachment to the impeached executive member.


b. The impeachment shall be backed up by 2/3 majority vote of the members
present during executive meeting where the decision of the impeachment is
been carried out.
ARTICLE TEN
SECTION 1: RESIGNATION

Any officer of the Association who wishes to relinquish his/her position shall be
indebted to the Association by:

a. Submitting an official letter stating his/her intention and reason for resignation
b. Such letter shall be respectively being addressed to both the congress and the
executive council.
c. The resignation shall take effect when the written resignation is received by
the authorities to whom it is addressed and such resignation is approved by
two-third (2/3) of members present at the meeting.

SECTION2: SUSPENSION AND DISMISSAL

Suspension and dismissal of any officer shall be done by the executive council
subject to the approval of the congress. The president shall have the right to
suspend any member of the executive council. In the event of a motion to suspend
the president, such motion shall be deliberated upon in an emergency meeting
called for such a purpose and the decision of the congress shall be enforced.

It is a crime to violate the rules and regulations of the university generally and
same to that of this association. For this reason, any executive officer will stand
suspended by the executive council if there is any written allegation of such crime
against him/her pending when he/she is tried by relevant panel of investigation.
He/she shall be immediately re-instated if found acquitted and discharge or
summarily be removed from office if convicted.

The office of a convicted officer will automatically be filled through bye election
in an emergency congress which shall be called by the president not more than one
week of such removal.

ARTICLE ELEVEN

SECTION 1: MEETINGS AND GENERAL CONGRESSES

The meetings of the Association shall be held in accordance to the following


provisions:

a. The executive council shall hold her meetings at least three times per
semester
b. The general congress shall hold her meetings once per semester
c. Emergency meetings shall be summoned when the need arises.

SECTION 2: CONDUCT DURING MEETINGS

Meetings either congress or executive shall be conducted with the following


provisions:

a. Minutes of the last meeting shall be read and adopted.


b. Reading and adoption of the agendas of the current meeting.
c. A member who wants to speak shall indicate his/her intention by rising up
hand; such person shall only speak after being recognized by the person
presiding over the meeting.
d. The president or any other person presiding over the meeting has the power to
send out any member disrupting the conduct of the meeting. Such a member
can only attend subsequent meetings after he/she has written a letter of apology
to the congress through the president
e. Quorum for executive meeting shall not be less than seven (7) while that of the
congress shall not be less than fifty (50) members.

ARTICLE TWELVE

FINANCES OF THE ASSOCIATION

SECTION 1: SOURCES OF INCOME

The income of The Association shall be derived from the following sources:

a. Members’ Registration (Association semester’s due)


b. Donations
c. Funds raising
d. Grants and Aids
e. Proceeds from any other functions, publications, property etc
f. Any other means as may be determine from time-to-time by the executive
council/congress.

SECTION 2: RESERVES

The association shall have a reserve fund. Ten percent (10%) of the association’s
income for each academic year shall go into the reserve fund which shall be kept in
the association’s account.

SECTION 3: FINANCIAL CONTROL/ SECURITY SYSTEM

i. Proper books of account shall be kept by the financial secretary and


treasurer.
ii. All monies received must be recorded in the books of account of the
association independently by the financial secretary and treasurer.
iii. The assets and liabilities of the association shall be recorded in the books
iv. All monies of the association received and recorded properly shall be banked
within forty eight (48) hours of receipt except impress or otherwise
determine by the executive council or congress.
v. There shall be three signatories to the association’s account: the
association’s president (principal signatory), secretary and either of financial
secretary or treasurer.

vi. The treasurer shall regularly keep an impress of not more than ten thousand
naira (N10, 000.00) only.
vii. Any two signatories can sign and withdraw money from the Bank
Account(s).
viii. No fund shall be spend without the consent of the Association president.
ix.All financial transactions shall have the approval of the executives.

SECTION 4: Budget

a. The executive council on assumption of office shall call for congress meeting
not later than two (2) months after they have been sworn in to office. Therein,
they shall present to the congress, a comprehensive budget proposal for the
session.
b. The congress has the power to review the content of the of such a budget
proposal. Decisions on contentious issues in the proposal shall be resolved
through voice vote or be backed up by two third (2/3) majority vote by
members present in the meeting.
c. The executive council shall thereafter work on the inputs after the congress
deliberation and subsequently come up with a clean copy of the final budget.

ARTICLE THIRTEEN

COMMITTEE OF THE ASSOCIATION

SECTION 1: AUDIT COMMITTEE

a. There shall be established, an independent audit committee to be chaired by


the auditor general of the association.
b. The committee shall be composed of four (4) members in the following
order: all the auditors, and one member from 100level

c. Each of these members shall be independently nominated and presented to
the auditor general of the association by their various levels for inauguration
by the executives.
d. The committee shall audit the account of the association regularly and
investigate cases of financial misappropriation by executives or other
members.
e. For this reason, any officer or member accused of embezzlement or financial
mismanagement of the association’s fund shall be reported directly to the
audit committee for investigation and recommendation of disciplinary
action.
f. In situation of any allegation, the financial secretary and treasurer on
demand shall each submit to the audit committee the books of account kept
by them for auditing.
g. The committee shall have power to summon any officer before it to answer
queries in the course of its auditing.
h. At tenure expiration, but before handover, the outgoing financial secretary
and the treasurer shall each submit to the audit committee all the financial
records and receipts kept by them for auditing.
i. The audit report shall be submitted to the congress during the handing over
ceremony.

SECTION 2: EDITORIAL COMMITTEE

There shall be an editorial committee to be set up by the executive council subject


to the approval of the congress which shall be responsible for the followings:

a. Publish and sell of journal(s) of the association.


b. Perform any other functions assigned to it by the executives and the
congress

c. The committee shall comprise of six members with the editor-in-chief as
chairman and the deputy editor-in-chief as deputy chairman of the
committee. (the editor-in-chief and the Deputy shall be nominated by the
executive council)
d. The composition of the committee shall be as follows: one member from
100 level, one member from 200 level, two members from 300 level and two
members from 400level.

SECTION 3: AD-HOC COMMITTEE

Ad hoc committees as deemed necessary from time to time will be set up by


executive council subject to approval by the congress in accordance with the
following guidelines:

a. They must be given a specific terms of reference by the executives.


b. The number of the members in the committee as well as their level
compositions shall be determined by the executives.
c. Any committee set up under this section shall present a report to the
executive council based on its terms or reference.
d. Any established ad hoc committee shall stand dissolved by the executives at
the completion of its tasks.

ARTICLE FOURTEEN

CODE OF CONDUCT

Any act of misconduct shall be punishable by this constitution in line with the
University rules and regulations as well as the Student Union.

a. It is an act of misconduct for any member of the association to mismanage


or embezzle the association’s funds.

b. Regular absenteeism from meetings by any executive member without
genuine reason(s) shall be considered as an act of misconduct.
c. Willful destruction of the association’s property shall be considered as an act
of misconduct.
d. Flagrant disregard for instruction or directives from the staff of the
association and officers of the association is an act of misconduct.
e. It is an act of misconduct to violate constitutional provisions either by an
officer or a member of the Association.
f. It is an act of misconduct for any member who fails to co-operate as required
by the Association.

ARTICLE FIFTEEN:

DISCIPLINE AND SANCTIONS

a. Failure to adhere to the above mentioned code of conducts shall lead to


penalties as may be decided by the Executive council.
b. The executive council may use any disciplinary action as contained in this
constitution for the above mentioned codes of conducts.

ARTICLE SIXTEEN

SECTION 1: SOSSAN WEEK, FUW CHAPTER

There shall be in every session a week set aside to propagate the activities of the
Association to be known as SOSSAN week. It shall be an annual event. Among
others, the scope of the SOSSAN week FUW Chapter shall include the following
Activities:

a. Symposia
b. Lectures by prominent and professional personalities.

c. Film shows.
d. Fund raising activities/rag/professional days.
e. Games/sport competitions.
f. Cultural display.
g. Presentations.

SECTION 2: SOSSAN /AWARDNIGHT

Annual awards shall be giving to deserving members of the Association and others
deserving individuals outside the Association during the Association’s
Dinner/award night event. The Executives in collaboration with the Patron or
Matron shall work out the criteria for the selection of such person(s) every year

ARTICLE SEVENTEEN

CERTIFICATE OF MERIT/SERVICE

a. A certificate of merit/service shall be presented to all outgoing members of the


executive council as well as other deserving congress members based on the
recommendations by an Ad hoc committee to that effect.
b. Electoral committee shall also be given such certificate.
c. Any officer found wanting in the discharge of his/her duties shall not be
conferred with such certificate.
d. The certificate shall be signed by the Dean and the out newly elected President
of the Association.

ARTICLE EIGHTEEN

VETO POWER OF INTERPRETATION

The president shall have the power to interpret the constitution and overrule on

ARTICLE NINETEEN:

STANDING ORDERS

a. QUORUM: two third of the elected members of the executive council and the
general congress shall constitute a quorum at any scheduled meeting
b. MOTION: a motion shall not be opened for discussion and adopted except it
has been moved and seconded
c. COUNTER MOTION: a motion earlier moved could be countered by a
counter motion moved and seconded by other members
d. MOTIONS:
 Motion to adopt
 Motion to adjourn
 Motion withdrawing a motion
 Motion to recess
 Motion to reverse a decision (by a two thirds majority of those present and
voting)
 Motion to limit or extend a limit of a debate
 Motion to refer for additional information
 Motion to refer to committee
 Motion to close discussion
e. POINTS OF ORDER:
 In discussing any motion, all choir members shall have equal right to
speak. Notwithstanding, the numbers of the contributors to the said
motion, and a member who has already spoken on a motion, may be

allowed or disallowed to make second speech on the same motion with the
permission of The Choir leader.
 It shall be in order to reconsider a motion previously adopted during a
meeting, provided that the motion to be reconsidered is approved by two
thirds majority votes who voted with the majority opinion during the
previous vote
 When a motion for discussion has been put forward and adopted, the
music director shall allow members to deliberate on the matter. The music
director may draw conclusion on matters that involved too much debate or
when members are silent.
 Any speaker shall sit whenever the music director or Choir Leader stands
up
 Any officer or member who walk out of meeting shall face disciplinary
action if he/she has no any convincing explanation to give
f. Every choir member must have a copy of this constitution at the point of
enrolment at cost to be determined by the executives

ARTICLE TWENTY

AMENDMENT/REVIEW AND ADOPTION

a. This constitution is subject to amendment from time-to-time, by giving a


notice of proposal to amend.
b. Every member of The Association has the right to suggest any amendment
of the constitution.
c. The whole of this constitution or any part thereof, may be abolished, altered,
amended, therein by a resolution of at least two thirds 2/3 simple majority of
the general congress.

d. Such review shall be done by a sub-committee to be appointed by the
executive council.
e. Any amended part of this constitution shall take effect from the date of
adoption and the old shall cease to be relevant from the same date.
f. The sub-committee shall cease to exist after the adoption of the amended
constitution.
