Rulebook for Elixir 2024 UI/UX


COMPETITION
Introduction:
IIT Patna is organizing a prestigious National-level UI/UX Competition as part of the
upcoming Elixir Fest. This event will attract participants from across India, offering
them a chance to demonstrate their design skills in an exciting and competitive
atmosphere. The competition aims to promote innovation, creativity, and user-centred
thinking, making it a must-attend event for aspiring designers and problem solvers.

1. General Guidelines
Eligibility: Open to all students.
Team Composition: Participants may compete solo or in teams of up to 3
members.
Registration: Teams must register through the official event portal by 8th
November 2024.

2. Competition Structure
Single Round: Design Submission
1. Participants will submit a complete UI/UX design project, including concept,
wireframes, and a functional prototype (optional but recommended).
2. Submissions should address a predefined theme or problem statement
provided by the organizers.
3. All designs must be submitted by 25th November 2024, by 5:00 pm.
4. Evaluation Criteria: Judges will assess each design based on creativity,
usability, user-centered design, functionality, and visual appeal.

3. Judging Criteria
o User-Centered Design (20%):
o Does the design effectively address the problem from a user’s
perspective?
o Is the design aligned with the needs and goals of the target audience?
o Does it provide a clear, efficient user journey?

o Visual Appeal (20%):


o Is the design aesthetically pleasing, balanced, and aligned with
modern design principles?
o Does the design use color, typography, and images effectively?
o Does it have a cohesive theme or visual identity?

o Functionality & Usability (25%):


o How intuitive is the design? Is it easy for users to navigate?
o Is the interface responsive and user-friendly?
o Are the interactions smooth and efficient, or do they create friction?

o Innovation & Creativity (20%):


o How unique and creative is the design compared to existing solutions?
o Are there innovative features or solutions that make the design stand
out?
o How well does the design push the boundaries of conventional UI/UX
practices?

o Consistency & Branding (5%):


o Is the design consistent throughout the interface (colors, fonts,
layout)?
o Does the design maintain strong branding elements throughout the
user journey?

o Presentation & Explanation (10%):


o How clearly is the design presented in the submission? Does it
effectively explain the design concept, decisions, and the intended
user experience?
o Are supporting materials (e.g., wireframes, user flow) well-organized
and easy to understand?
o Accessibility & Inclusivity (5%):
o Does the design consider accessibility standards (color contrast, text
size, etc.)?
o Is the design usable for a diverse audience, including people with
disabilities?

4. Submission Guidelines
a. Format: All submissions should be in PDF format and may include
links to prototypes (Figma, Adobe XD, etc.).
b. File Naming: Name files in the format "TeamName_ProjectName.pdf".
c. Late Submissions: Will not be accepted unless prior approval is
granted by the organizers.

5. Code of Conduct
a. Original Work: All designs must be original. Plagiarism will result in
disqualification.
b. Respectful Collaboration: Participants must maintain a respectful and
collaborative spirit throughout the competition.
c. Adherence to Rules: Failure to adhere to any rule may result in
disqualification at the discretion of the organizers.

6. Prizes and Recognition


a. Prize Pool: Total prize pool of INR 15,000.
b. 1st Place: Cash prize from the prize pool and a free fest pass.
c. 2nd Place: Cash prize from the prize pool and a free fest pass.
d. Certificates: All participants will receive certificates of participation.
e. Featured Design: The winning design may be showcased on [college
website, social media, etc.].

7. Important Dates
- Registration Deadline: 8th November 2024
- Submission Deadline: 25th November 2024, by 5:00 pm
- Results Announcement: 10th December 2024
