Tips & Tricks
This is an advanced beginner pattern, written in U.S. terminology. You can use any yarn
weight/type you want, but remember to adjust your hook size accordingly.
Before starting, check each page for a "Pro Tip" to help you along!
Optional: If using a larger weight yarn and you are concerned about stuffing coming
through to the cap - loosely sew a piece of (same-color) yarn over the hole between the
cap and head (using the BLO sts) before completing the head and stuffing.
Every round is worked continuously. No ch 1 is needed unless expressed in the pattern.
It is helpful to place a stitch marker at the beginning of each new round.
If you do not wish to use a magic circle, you can ch 3, sl st into 1st ch, and sc into the ring.
Invisible decreases are used throughout this pattern: insert the hook into the FLO of the
decreasing sts, yarn over, pull up loop, yarn over, pull through two loops on hook.
Note: not every size 6/super bulky weight yarn is the same! If using blanket yarn (such as
Bernat), I would highly recommend going up a hook size (I use a 6.5 mm hook).
