Chubby low sew moth pattern

designed by Riley Carroll aka @puppyflycreations

Abbreviations (US):
mr- magic ring
ch- chain
sc-single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
dc- double crochet
inc - increase
dec- decrease
slst- slip stitch
FLO- front loop only
BO - bobble
FO- fasten off

big moth
Materials:
Yarn, I used bee yarn weight 5 for big
moth and weight 4 for small moth (sizing
up or down is optional)

3.75 mm crochet hook for small moths


and 5.25 for big moth (use the hook you
feel works best with your yarn)

safety eyes 8mm for small


moth and 10 mm for big moth
small moth

stuffing (I used fiber fill)

stitch marker or loose yarn to mark the


beginning of each row

yarn needle

scissors

Head and body
1. 6 sc in mr (6)
2. Inc x6 (12)
3. (Sc, inc) x6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
5-7. 24 sc (24) (3 rounds)
8. (2 sc, dec) x6 (18)
9. in FLO (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
10. 24 sc (24)
11. 7 sc, BO (5 sc) , 8 sc, BO (5 sc),

Attach eyes in between rows 6 and 7, 5 stitches apart.
Stuff the head and body.

Antennas (make 2)
1. Make a slipknot and ch 5
2. Starting in second the stitch from
hook sc 4
cut yarn and FO

Top wings (make 2)
1. 6 sc in mr (6)

3. (sc, inc) x6 (18)
switch to secondary color
4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
switch back to primary color
5. Fold in half and sc 12 along edge (12)
chain one and turn work
6. (sc, 2 dc in same stitch, sc, slst) x3
cut yarn and FO, leave a tail for sewing

Bottom wings (make 2)


1. 6 sc in mr
2. inc x6 (12)
switch to secondary color (optional)
3. (sc, inc) x6 (18)
switch back to primary color
4. Fold in half and sc 9 along edge (9)
chain one and turn work
5. (sc, 2 dc in same stitch, sc, slst) x2, ch 4,
in second stitch from the hook 2 hdc, slst x3
cut yarn and FO, leave a tail for sewing

Assembly
Attach antennas 2 stitches apart between rows 4 and 5.
Attach top wing to bottom wing having the top wing overlap the bottom and
sew to the body. Repeat with the second pair of wings.
it may be easier for you to sew all 4 wings together and then attach to the
body.
Embroider blush under the eyes. (optional)
