Materials and tools:
FOR SANTA DRESS:
Red – Alize Cotton Gold 56.
Black – Yarn Art Jeans 53.
Gold metallic sparkly thread - Yarn Art Sparkle 1309.
White fuzzy yarn - Alize Softy 55.
FOR CHRISTMAS SWEATER AND PANTS:
Red fluffy yarn – Nako Paris 3641.
For this sweater, you can choose any textured yarn that you like, such as boucle or mohair, to
make the sweater soft and fluffy. The main rule is that your yarn should be suitable for a crochet
hook size of 2 mm, the same one we used for crocheting Hugo.
Green – Alize Cotton Gold 35.
White - Yarn Art Jeans 62.
White fuzzy yarn for the fur trim - Alize Softy 55.
Gold metallic sparkly thread - Yarn Art Sparkle 1309.
A little bit of brown and yellow yarn.
2 mm crochet hook.
Tapestry needle with large eye.
Abbreviations used (US):
st(s) – stitch(es);
ch – chain;
slst – slip stitch;
sc – single crochet;
dc – double crochet;
inc – increase (2 sts worked into the same stitch = 1 increased);
dec – decrease (2 sts crocheted off together, with separate bases and a shared top);
dc inc – increase of double crochet (2 sts worked into the same stitch = 1 increased);
dc dec – decrease of double crochet (2 sts crocheted off together, with separate bases and a
shared top);
blo – work through the back loop only;
(sc, in)... times – repeat instructions in parenthesis the indicated number of times.

Christmas outfit for Henrietta
Top of the dress
In red yarn ch48, join the chain with a slst to make a circle.
Work in joined rounds, connecting each round with slst and using
1 adjustment chain.
Rnd 1: 1 sc in every st (48)
Rnd 2: 8 sc, ch8, skip 8 sts, 16 sc, ch8, skip 8 sts, 8 sc (48)
Rnd 3: 1 sc in every st (48)
Rnd 4: 5 sc, inc, 12 sc, inc, 10 sc, inc, 12 sc, inc, 5 sc (52)
Rnd 5: 1 sc in every st (52)
Rnd 6: 6 sc, inc, 12 sc, inc, 12 sc, inc, 12 sc, inc, 6 sc (56)
Rnds 7-8 (2 rounds): 1 sc in every st (56)
Change yarn to black.
Rnd 9: slst in every st (56)
Rnd 10: work in blo of round 9 and in the same time in stitches

Cut the yarn, leaving an end long enough for sewing.
Skirt of the dress
In red yarn ch156, join the chain with a slst to make a circle.
Work in joined rounds, connecting each round with slst.
Rnds 1-5 (5 rounds): ch3, 1 dc in every st (156)
Change yarn to white fuzzy yarn.
Rnd 6: ch1, 1 sc in every st (156)
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.

Now you need to sew the skirt to the top. To do this, take the yarn tail left at the top and
thread it through a needle. Then insert the needle into the first stitch of the 12th row of
the top (insert the needle right into the center of the braid, grasping also a black loop).
Pick up three stitches from the skirt and pull the yarn through. Continue sewing the skirt
to the top by attaching three skirt stitches to each top stitch.
Sleeves
Work in spiral.
Attach red yarn in a stitch at the bottom center of the armhole.
Rnd 1: 16 sc along the armhole (16)
Rnds 2-17 (16 rounds): sc in every st (16)
Change yarn to white fuzzy yarn.
Rnd 18: sc in every st (16)
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.
Make the second sleeve in the same way.
Collar
Attach white fuzzy yarn to the 1-st stitch of round 1 of the top.
Crochet the neckline using single crochet stitches.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.

Buttons
Add two French knots in white fuzzy yarn at the front side of the dress.
Belt buckle
In gold metallic sparkly thread ch12, join the chain with a slst to make
a circle.
Work in the loops of the chain: (2 sc, 3 sc in one loop) repeat 4
times.
Cut the yarn, leaving an end long enough for sewing.
Sew the buckle onto the belt (the black stripe of the dress).
Embroider the tongue of the buckle.
Red bow
In red yarn ch46, join the chain with a slst to make a circle.
Work in joined rounds, connecting each round with slst.
Rnds 1-5 (5 rounds): ch3, 1 dc in every st (46)
Cut the yarn, leaving an end long enough for sewing.
Scrunch the bow in the middle, wrap the piece of yarn you leave
around the centre and tie a few knots to secure.
Strap
In red yarn ch13.
Beginning from the 2nd loop from the hook, 1 sc in every loop till
the end of the chain
Cut the yarn, leaving an end long enough for sewing.
Wrap the strap round the middle of the bow and sew it at the
back. I attach the bow to the head using a long sewing needle.

Fur boots
The boots for both Hugo and Henrietta are crocheted using the same way. To see the
stitches clearly, I use smooth yarn instead of the fuzzy for the boots instructions.
Work in spiral.
In white fuzzy yarn ch7. Work around both sides of the chain.
Rnd 1: beginning from the 2-nd loop from the hook, 5 sc, 5 sc in the last ch of the
chain. Continue into the unused loops on the other side of the chain: 4 sc, inc (16)
Rnd 2: inc, 4 sc, 5 inc, 4 sc, 2 inc (24)
Rnd 3: 1 slst in every st (24)
Rnd 4: work in stitches of round 2 - 1 sc in every st (24)
Rnd 5: 1 sc in every st (24)
Rnd 6: 6 sc, 5 dec, 8 sc (19)
Rnd 7: 7 sc, decrease of 3 sts, 9 sc (17)
Rnd 8: 6 sc, decrease of 3 sts, 8 sc (15)

Christmas outfit for Hugo
Christmas sweater
To see the stitches clearly, I use smooth yarn instead of the fuzzy
for the sweater instructions.
In red yarn ch46, join the chain with a slst to make a circle.
Work in joined rounds, connecting each round with slst.
Rnd 1: ch3, 7 dc, dc inc, 6 dc, dc inc, 16 dc, dc inc, 6 dc, dc inc, 7
dc (50)
Rnd 2: ch1, 8 slst, ch 8, skip 8 sts., 18 slst, ch8, skip 8 sts, 8 slst

Rnd 3: ch3, work in blo of round 2 and in the same time in
stitches of round 1 - 1 dc in every st. When reaching the chain
make 1 dc in every loop (50)
Rnds 4-6 (3 rounds): ch3, 1 dc in every st (50).
Rnd 7: ch1, slst in every st. (50).
Rnd 8: ch1, work in blo of round 7 and in the same time in
stitches of round 6 - 1 sc in every st (50).
Rnds 9-10 (2 rounds): ch1, sc in every st (50).
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.
Collar
Work in joined rounds, connecting each round with slst.
Attach red yarn to the 1-st stitch of round 1 of the sweater.

Note. You can crochet one more round of sc if you need a longer sleeve for your frog.

Make the second sleeve the same way.
Christmas tree patch
Work in turning rows.
In red yarn ch2.
Row 1: 2 sc in the 1-st loop, ch1, turn (2)
Row 2: 1 sc, inc, ch1, turn (3)
Row 3: 1 sc, inc, 1 sc, ch1, turn (4)

Cut the yarn, leaving an end long enough for sewing.
Embroider decorations on the Christmas tree using French knot
stitches.
Sew the Christmas tree patch to the sweater.
Use yellow yarn to embroider a star on the tree's top.
Embroider the trunk using brown yarn.
Pants
Work in spiral.
In green yarn ch50, join the chain with a slst to make a circle.
Rnds 1-2 (2 rounds): sc in every st (50)
Rnd 3: (8 sc, dec) х 5 (45)
Rnd 4-5 (2 rounds): sc in every st. (45)
Rnd 6: (7 sc, dec) х 5 (40)
Rnd 7: sc in every st. (40)
Rnd 8: (8 sc, dec) х 4 (36)
Rnd 9: sc in every st. (36)
Rnd 10: (7 sc, dec) х 4 (32)
To make the trouser-legs, divide the round 10 in two sections of
16 stitches. To do this, count to the left 16 stitches and insert the
hook into stitch 17. Continue working the first trouser-leg.
Rnds 11-34 (24 rounds): sc in every st (16).
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.

Leave a starting yarn tail. Attach green yarn in the next unworked stitch of round 10 of
the trousers to make the second leg.
Make the second trouser-leg repeating rounds 11-34.
Using the starting yarn tail sew up the gap between the legs.
Waistband
Attach green yarn to the 1-st stitch of round 1 of the pants.
Crochet the waistbelt using single crochet stitches.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end.
Boots
Create a pair of booties for Hugo by following the instructions provided for Henrietta's
booties finishing the last row using white fuzzy yarn.
