HOMEROOM GUIDANCE (HG) LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET (LAS) FOR
GRADE 12
Quarter 2 – Week 1: Decisive Person
Introduction
In this session, you will learn the factors in effective decision-
making, the core values and self-efficacy being integrated.
Decision-making plays a vital role in the life of learners like you. It diverts you
from falling into the trap that you may regret later. It can both save you and
your career interest. The ability to distinguish between choice and needs
creates a great impact in your life.
Processing Questions:
1. Do you find it hard to come up with a decision? Why? Why not?
2. Who influenced your decision-making skills?
3. Are you happy with your decisions? Why?
3
Keep in Mind
✓ Write down pros and cons. Make columns and list down the doable
including its positive and negative effects.
✓ Weigh in past decisions. Maybe you have read or heard about the
saying that “those who don’t understand history are doomed to repeat
it.” This is the exact reason why you should reflect and find out the
things that you should have considered and should not have
considered. Through pondering on past decisions, you will be able to
draw out effects that turned out well and those that did not turn out
very well.
Remember: Making good choices begins with taking charge of the decision-
making process. There’s never a short-cut to achieving finer things in life.
You Can Do I t
You Decide!
Read the following statements. Carefully decide on the best thing to do when
faced with these situations. Write your answer in your HG notebook.
4
Statement 1: Two of your friends are having conflict and often disturb your
peace of mind. How would you handle this situation?
Statement 2: Describe a time you made an unpopular decision. How did you
handle the feedback? How would you have handled the situation differently?
Statement 3: Do you usually make better decisions alone or with a group?
Why? When do you ask for help?
Statement 4: In your experience, when you are working on a group project,
do you make the most decisions or do you prefer to step back and follow
someone else’s guidelines?
Statement 5: In areas under General Community Quarantine, many have
opened business establishments amidst the rising cases of Covid-19.
However, health protocols are being implemented to ensure public safety so
that usual business transactions continue. Our economy is badly affected by
this worldwide health crisis, but life moves on, citizens are caught in between
working for a living or staying at home for safety health reasons. What is your
stand on this?
Processing Questions:
1. In deciding, what are the things that you need to consider?
2. Who are the people that mostly influence your decisions? Why?
3. Does this pandemic situation somehow affect your decision-making? How?
5
2. Write down pros and cons.
5. Be Ready.

it is YOU who should make the final decision.
Below are examples of issues or matters confronting you right
now or you might decide in the future. In each of them, identify to whom

business, look for a job, or develop the desired middle-level skills.

counseling psychology since its emergence as a profession, and it

Journal of Counseling Psychology, 2010).
After acquiring all the knowledge, skills, and attitude and being aware
of your interests and personality types. You will now choose the curriculum
exit you will pursue after senior high school. You may choose to work
immediately since you are of legal age and have the competencies to perform
a specific job, or to pursue a business so you can start to earn money. You
may also proceed to higher education and pursue a degree course or take up
any Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) courses
for middle-level skills development.
Employment. Aa a senior high school graduate you can now work after
senior high school. Check the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in
your locality for possible job vacancies, or you can browse in the Department
of Labor and Employment website, www.ble.dole.gov.ph for possible local
employment.

Philippine Business Industry (as cited in
http://www.biznewsph.com/p/business-ideas-in-philippines.html, 2012)
has come up with a list of ideas where prospective entrepreneurs can start
and grow their own business in the Philippines. (See Appendix 3: List of

Processing question:
1. How did you find the activity?
2. Do you feel confident about your plans after SHS? Explain your answer.

Keep in Mind
The Changing Nature of Work
With the rapid pace of technological advances in the global labor
market, various occupations are continually being created. These demands
open doors to numerous job opportunities today and in the future.
In an article from the Society of Human Resource Management (2013),
five global trends affect the future of the global labor workforce:
Technology. In a highly digitized and connected world mainly driven
by smart devices, work is no longer limited to reporting to the office. On-line
jobs can be done at home.
Outsourcing. Today more than ever, companies try to cut on cost and
save resources. One practice by which they can do these is by outsourcing.
Outsourcing is getting portions of work done through outside suppliers rather
than completing it internally. The call center industry is an example of an
outsourcing practice that continues to expand in the country.
Changing workers’ attitude and values. Different generations exhibit
different qualities, attitudes, and values. Recent years have focused on
striking a balance between work and life. Workers need to love their work but
should have other interests outside the office, too.
Demographics and diversity. With better medical care, people are
living longer, and life expectancy increases. In the next 10 years, five
generations―traditionalists, Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y, and Gen Z―will be
working together. Different generations must be able to capitalize on their
tools while working harmoniously with one another.
Globalization. Companies are extending their businesses on an
international scale. Some companies are on a 24-hour operation scheme to
meet the demands of their clients and the global market. The dispersion of
work geographically makes it possible to get work done.

Hierarchy of Cs
Direction: Copy the template in your HG notebook. You will create your
Hierarchy of Cs by filling in the spaces of the pyramid with the lifelong skills
that you believe you now possess. Your self-assessment will enable you to
reflect on the level of your lifelong skills so that you may highlight your
advanced skill while working on the ones that need development. At the
bottom, answer the sentences that would signify your commitment in
maintaining, enhancing, and improving their skills.
