Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

Situational Analysis

Calamansi ( Citrus microcarpa) , commonly known as calamondin, is a small, citrus fruit

native to Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines. It is widely used in both culinary and

medical contexts due to its rich vitamin C content and unique flavor, combining sweet and sour

notes (Morton 1987). This fruit plays a significant role in Filipino cuisine, often used as a flavor

enhancer for various dishes,beverages , and condiments ( Barba & Cabrera, 2008 ). Calamansi

is also valued for its health benefits, which is include its antioxidant properties, potential to boost

the immune system, and ability to aid digestion ( Esoina&Borja, 2011).Vitamin C helps to

strengthen the immune system, making the body more resistant to illnesses like colds and flu

(Smith, 2020). Regular consumption of calamansi-based drinks can help boost immunity and

support skin health.

Ginger, on the other hand, is well known for its anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits.

Research by Johnson (2019) suggests that ginger can relieve nausea, reduce muscle pain, and

support healthy digestion. Additionally, ginger has warming properties that can soothe a sore

throat and alleviate respiratory discomfort.

When calamansi and ginger are combined in a beverage, they create a powerful health

drink that promotes digestion, enhances immunity, and provides a natural source of energy. The

tangy citrus from calamansi blends well with the warming spice of ginger, making the drink both

delicious and beneficial.

Incorporating calamansi and ginger drinks into your daily routine is a simple and

effective way to support your health. With calamansi's immune-boosting properties and ginger's

anti-inflammatory benefits, this drink is a natural remedy for a variety of common ailments. As

more people turn to natural solutions for health, this combination offers both a refreshing taste

and significant health benefits.

Objective of the Study

At the end of the study the researchers should be able;

 To provide a natural and refreshing beverage that boosts immunity

 To offer a digestive aid through a natural formulation

 To create a sustainable and preservative-free health drink
