The use of aluminium in the transmission case and air tank, and the adoption of nylon
tubing, a single-skin frame and parabolic springs help decrease chassis weight, while
ensuring tensile strength and rigidity. Front axle capacity has also been increased.
Together, these improvements provide even greater load capacity. For Mixer application
a flywheel PTO is offered and also an idle-up switch.

These trucks deliver superior fuel economy and outstanding
power and performance, thanks to the new E13C-TI engine with
high-pressure common-rail fuel injection system and Variable
Nozzle Turbocharger (VNT), and the 16-speed transmission with
higher torque at lower engine rpm. HINO 13EC-TI engine for Euro 4
uses EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and therefore the use of
AdBlue® is not required.

New retarder system
The retarder system, which combines the auxiliary brake (engine brake) and foot
brake, is a standard feature. The retarder works when the auxiliary brake switch
is in the ’AUTO’ position. Unlike retarders that work off the accelerator, this one
engages when the brake pedal is pressed, so deceleration occurs only when you
actually want to slow down, contributing to fuel savings and brake lining life.
Engaging the retarder delivers much higher stopping power than that provided
by brakes alone.

In line with Hino’s branding policy, which stipulates that we must ”unify our product names under HINO
brand all over the world”, the new heavy-duty trucks to be launched at this time have been named the
HINO 700 Series. The use of names combining HINO, a number to represent light-, medium-, or heavy-
duty class, and the word ’Series’ has been chosen to consistently promote the ’HINO’ brand name, thereby
raising our customers’s awareness of the Hino brand. The purpose of this ’simple branding’ policy is to
guarantee customers satisfaction with Hino’s products, sales, services and other aspects of business,
to raise brand awareness, and to endow the brand with a higher level of trust.

Hino Motors’ social responsibilities are, first of all, to the customers who use our products.
In addition, we are conscious of the role we play as a corporate citizen and are making an effort
to respond to social needs and create a society where we can live safely and have peace of
mind. We have been offering workshops on energy-saving driving at the Ibaraki proofing ground.
After a lecture on energy-saving driving using a text, participants actually drove on the test
course and experienced the benefits of energy-saving driving. In FY2003, a total of 26 companies
(about 900 people) participated in these workshops.
Hino wants to be a good member of society as a corperatecitizen, both in Japan and internationally.
Our activities include Hino Motors Geen Fund that was established to contribute to preserving the
natural environment by restoring natural ecosystems, protecting rivers and wetland environments,
and by establishing a national trust, among other activities. Hino is also involved in a wide range
of other activities, such as providing scholarships to high school students.
