Requirements:
● 1 Addi 80 cm circular or 5 dpn, 2.5 mm
● a skein of nice (hand dyed) yarn in semi-solid colours,
abt. 100 gr/420 meters.
● stitchmarkers, rowcounter, cableneedle
Size:
● Size: Woman US: 8 - 9
The size can easily be adjusted to fit larger or smaller feet. Keep in mind that
the traveling stitches make a snug-fit sock. Calculate about 10% extra stitches
compaired to a plain stockinette stitch sock.
Add for a larger size at an extra column of K1tbl the begin and end of chart 1.
Leave out the purl columns 9 & 26 for a smaller size.
Gauge:
● 32 sts, 40 rws per 10 cm in stockinette

LLinc: For a left-slanting increase, knit one stitch, then knit into the left leg of
the same stitch of two rows below it.
LRinc: For a right-slanting increase, knit into the right leg of the stitch of the
row below the next stitch to be knit
Right twist: With right needle, insert tip into the second k st. Pull the left
needle out of these 2 sts. The first k st falls free behind your work. Pick this
stitch up with the tip of your left needle. Place k st back on the left needle.
Knit both stitches through back of loop.
Left twist: With right needle, insert tip into the second k st at the back side
of your work. Pull the left needle out of these 2 sts. The first k st falls free on
the front side of your work. Pick it up with the tip of your left needle. Place k st
back on the left needle. Knit both stitches through back of loop.
Right twist, purl bg: With right needle, insert tip into the k st. Pull the left
needle out of these 2 sts. The p st falls free behind your work. Pick this stitch
up with the tip of your left needle. Place k st back on the left needle. Knit this
stitch through the back loop. Purl the next stitch.
Left twist, purl bg: With right needle, insert tip into the p st at the back side
of your work. Pull the left needle out of these 2 sts. The k st falls free on front

of your work. Pick this stitch up with the tip of your left needle. Place p st back The pattern of this sock uses several charts:
on the left needle. Purl this stitch and knit the next stitch through back of loop.
1. chart for the upper foot and front leg
2. setup round for the upper foot
3. chart for back of leg and cuff
4. setup round for the transition heel/back of leg

Rnd 1:
Sole: K1, LRinc, work to 1 stitch from end, LLinc, K1.
Top of Foot: K1, LRinc, work to 1 stitch from end, LLinc, K1.
Rnd 2: Work even.
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until there are 68 total stitches .
[34 instep sts, 34 sole sts]
Foot:
Knit the two setup rounds as presented in the chart 2.
Continue working with the chart 1 for the upper foot and front leg.
Knit the stiches for the sole of the foot in plain stockinette
Continue working in rounds until the foot measures about 5,3 inch from tip of
toe.
Complete top of foot stitches.
Make a note of the number of last round knitted of the instep pattern.
Shape Gusset:
Rnd 1:
Heel: K1, LRinc, work to 1 stitch from end, LLinc, K1.
Instep: Work pattern.
Rnd 2:
Heel: Work even.
Instep: Work pattern
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 15 times.
Toe: End with knitting a complete round 2, 98 total stitches. [30 rounds total]
Cast on 28 stitches loosely, using Judy's Magic Cast-on. Work the next row of the instep pattern.
Knit 1 round stockinette before starting the increase of the toe. Make a note of the number of last round knitted of the instep pattern.

Work the next 15 stitches of the heel. Rw 6: P22 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
You may use markers to separate the gusset stitches from instep stitches . Rw 7: K20 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Rw 8: P18 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Heel Rw 9: K16 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Rw 10: P14 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Rw 11: K12 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Rw 12: P10 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Rw 13: K8 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Rw 14: Purl across to the last stitch, and, at the same time, pick up wraps and
purl tog with stitch. Purl the last stitch together with first stitch from gusset.
Turn.
Rw 15: Slip 1 purlwise. Knit across the row, picking up wraps and knit tog with
stitch on second half of the row. Knit the last stitch tog with the gusset stitch.
Rw 16: Slip 1 purlwise. Purl to the last stitch. Purl the last stitch tog with the
next gusset stitch.
Heel Flap with Heel Stitch:
With RS facing, work back and forth:
Rw 1: *Sl 1 purlwise, k1*. Repeat from * to last stitch. Knit last stitch
together with next gusset stitch.
Rw 2: Sl 1 purlwise, p to last stitch. Purl last stitch together with next gusset
stitch.
Repeat these 2 rows until all gusset sts stitches have been worked. End with
knitting RS facing and continue with the leg.
Short Row Heel:
Leg:
Slip heel stitches onto needle shaft if preferred.[34 sts]
Continue working chart 1 for the front leg.
Rw 1: (RS) K32 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn. Make a note of the round of the instep pattern you continued with.
Rw 2: (WS) P30 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn.
Rw 3: K28 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn. At the back of the leg knit one or two rounds of chart 4 to setup the pattern.
Rw 4: P26 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn. Knit round 1 if the last row of your insteppattern was even.
Rw 5: K24 sts, wrap the next stitch. Turn. Knit round 1 & 2 if the last row of your insteppattern was odd.

Rnd1: Make 1 stitch purlwise.

After these setup you start knitting chart 3 for the back of the leg. This way all
right twisted stitches line up nice. Work the leg as long as you prefer, knitting
chart 1 & 3. End with rw 24 for a nice transition to the cuff.
Cuff:
Work cuff in pattern stitch chart 3 for 12 rnds.
Finishing:
Bind off cuff loosely, using your favorite method.
Weave in ends and work the second sock.
