MATERIALS:

 US 2½ (3 mm) circular needles long enough for ‘magic loop” or dpns


 tapestry needle
 scrap yarn
YARN: Garnstudio Drops Alpaca mix (100% alpaca; 183yards/167 meters per 100g) 1ball or sport weight yarn
to obtain gauge
GAUGE: 25 sts x 35 rows=10 cm/4 inches in Stockinette st after blocking

Mitts are worked from the bottom up seamlessly.

DIRECTIONS

CO 36/40/44/48/52 sts, join to work in the round being careful not to twist. Cast on yarn tail indicates beginning of the
round.

Work in stockinette st (k all sts) for 7 cm (3 in).

GUSSET

Round 1: k16/16/18/18/20, LLI, k to end, RLI

Round 2: k to end

Repeat these two rounds a total of 8/8/9/9/10 times.

= 52/56/62/66/72 sts

Dividing round: place 16/16/18/18/20 sts onto scrap yarn, k to 1 st before end, knit last and first sts of the round
together. = 35/39/43/47/51 sts

Continue to work in the round in stockinette st for 7 cm (3 in).

BO all sts knitwise.

THUMB

Pick up 16/16/18/18/20 sts from scrap yarn and 3 more from the gap.

Next round: k to 1 st before 3 picked up sts from the gap, k2tog, k1, k2tog. = 17/17/19/19/21 sts

Continue to work in the round in stockinette st for 2,5 cm (1 in).

BO all sts knitwise. Make one more mitten the same way.

FINISHING

Weave in all yarn ends. Wet block the mittens.

CO/BO – cast on/bind off

St(s) – stitch(es)

k/p – knit/purl

k2tog – knit 2 sts together (right leaning decrease)

RLI - right lifted increase, lift first leg of st below the


next st onto needle and knit this stitch.
