TUSCAN AIRE
Texture Stitch Hat

To Fit: Average Adult


Approximate Measurements 18 ½”
brim, 23” circumference after blocking

Materials:
Tuscan Aire: 1—50g ball, color 01
Burgundy Heather
Gauge: 14 sts, 20 rows = 4” in st st on
US Size 10 (6mm) needle after blocking.
Needles/Notions: US Size 10 (6mm)
DPNs and 16” or 24” circular needle, 1
stitch marker (m), tapestry needle.

3x1 Rib in the round (Multiple of 4 sts)


Rnd 1: *K3, p1; rep from * across.
Rep this rnd for pattern st.

Welted Leaf Pattern (Multiple of 8 sts)


Rnds 1 and 2: K across.
Rnd 3: *K4, p4; rep from * across.
Rnd 4: P1, *k4, p4; rep from * across to
last 7 sts, k4, p3.
Rnd 5: P2, *k4, p4; rep from * across to
last 6 sts, k4, p2.
Rnd 6: P3, *k4, p4; rep from * across to
last 5 sts, k4, p1.
Rnd 7: K3, *p4, k4; rep from * across to
last 5 sts, p4, k1.
Rnd 8: K2, *p4, k4; rep from * across to
last 6 sts, p4, k2.
Rnd 9: K1, *p4, k4; rep from * across to
last 7 sts, p4, k3.
Rnd 10: *P4, k4; rep from * across.
Rnds 11 and 12: K across.
Rnds 13 and 14: P across.
Rep these 14 rnds for pattern st.

Begin
Brim
With circular needle, long-tail CO 64 sts. Join in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts. Work 2” in 3x1 Rib in the
round.
Inc Rnd: *K4, m1; rep from * across—16 sts inc’d.
80 sts on needle.
Work in Welted Leaf Pattern rnds 1-14 twice, then work rnds 1-12 once more. (40 rows in pattern st).

Hat will measure approximately 9” from CO edge.

Shape Crown
(Switch to DPNs)
Rnd 1: *p2, p2tog; rep from * across—20 sts dec’d.
60 sts on needle.
Rnd 2: *p1, p2tog; rep from * across—20 sts dec’d.
40 sts on needle.
Rnd 3: *k2tog; rep from * across—20 sts dec’d.
20 sts on needle.
Rnd 4: *K2tog; rep from * across—10 sts dec’d.
10 sts on needle. Cut yarn. Leaving a 4” tail. Thread the tapestry needle with the tail. Draw the tail through the rem
sts and pull to close. Fasten off.

Finishing
Block pieces to measurements.
Pom Pom (optional): With leftover yarn, make a 2½” pom pom. Attach to the top of the hat securely.
Weave in all ends.
