Alice in Wonderland
Characters:

Janka: Narrator 1: Guides the story.


Laura: Narrator 2: Guides the story
Awia: Alice: A curious young girl.
Natalia: Rabbit: A worried rabbit
Ania Ch.: Cat (Cheshire Cat): A smiling, mischievous cat
Marta: Lily: a talking lovely flower
Ala: Rose: a talking lovely flower
Emilka: Tulip: a talking lovely flower
Zosia: Queen of Cards (Queen of Hearts): A bossy, loud ruler.
Dawid: Duke: Queen's patient cousin

Scene I: In the garden


(Setting: A colorful garden in Wonderland. Scene opens with the Narrators standing in
the centre.)
Narrator 1: Welcome to Wonderland, a strange and wonderful place!
Narrator 2: Today, we join Alice on her adventure.
(Enter Alice.)
Alice: What a beautiful garden!
(Rabbit rushes in, looking at his watch.)
Rabbit: Oh dear! Oh dear! I'm late, I'm late for a very important date!
Alice: A talking rabbit! I must follow him!
(Alice follows the Rabbit. The Cat appears, grinning.)
Cat: Where do you think you're going, Alice?
Alice: I'm following the Rabbit. Do you know him?
Cat: (mischievously) I know everyone here. But be careful, Wonderland can be very strange.
(The Cat fades away.)

Scene II: The conversation with Flowers

(Alice walks further into the garden.


She sees a group of talking flowers: Lily, Rose, and Tulip.)
Rose: Look, a girl!
Tulip: You can move!
Lily: Are you a new kind of flower?
Alice: I'm Alice, and I'm not a flower.
Lily: Oh! Welcome to our garden!
Rose: Will you dance with us?
Alice: No, I can’t. I’m in a hurry. I’m looking for a talking rabbit? Have you seen him?
Rose: Oh, a talking rabbit!
Tulip: How strange! I want to see it.
Lily: I think he was running that way.

Scene III: The Queen’s game

Narrator 1: The Queen is NOT in a good mood today.


(The Queen of Cards storms in, with Duke following.)
Queen of Cards: Who's been painting my flowers?!
Duke: My Queen, be calm!
Queen: Calm? I'll behead them!
(The Queen sees Alice.)
Queen: And who is this?
Alice: I'm Alice, your Majesty.
Queen: Alice, you shall play croquet with me!
Alice: Your majesty, I don’t know the rules.
Queen: Neither does anyone dear. But if you lose... Off with your head!
(Alice looks frightened)
Rose, Lily and Tulip: Oh, your majesty, have mercy on her!
Duke: Let our lovely flowers dance!

(The Flowers dance, Alice joins them.)

Scene IV At the tea party


Narrator 2: Everybody can’t wait for the tea party to start.
(Cat is sitting at a table with Queen, Duke and Flowers)
Duke: What time is tea time?
Queen: It's always tea time!
(Alice arrives at the tea party)
Alice: Hello!
Cat: (impolitely) No room! No room!
Alice: But there's plenty of room!
Cat: Who are you?
Alice: I... I hardly know, I've changed so many times today.
Queen: Explain yourself!
Alice: I can't explain myself, I’m afraid, because I'm not myself, you see.
(Queen looks surprised.)
Flowers: Let’s have some tea, then.

(The Flowers bring a teapot with cups and buiscuits for everybody. The characters have
tea.)

Scene V A perfect day

Narrator 1: The Queen IS in a good mood today.


(Enter Queen and Duke. They walk in the garden among flowers.)

Queen: Ah? Here are my lovely flowers!

Flowers: Good afternoon, your majesty? Are you having a good day?

Queen: A good day? It’s just a perfect day!

Duke: It means Alice is staying with us for ever?

Queen: Yes! I’ll make her my personal maid.

(Enter Alice.)

Alice: I don’t want to be your servant!

Queen: Oh! Did your parents teach you any manners, young lady?

Alice: My parents DID teach me manners. I just want to go home!

Queen: How rude! Off with her head!

Duke: Be calm, my Queen. Let’s have a walk together.

(Enter Rabbit rushing through the scene.)

Cat: Alice! Follow the Rabbit before you lose your head…
Scene VI ‘Hide and seek’ game

Narrator 1: Will Alice ever find her way home?


Narrator 2: Only time will tell in Wonderland.
(Enter Alice.)
Alice: Where am I going to go now? I want to go home!

(Rabbit runs onto the stage.)

Rabbit: Home? Where is your home?

Alice: And where did you come from?

Rabbit: I came from here and I can take you there.

(Enter Cat rapidly).

Cat: Ready or not, here I come!

Rabbit: Quick, follow me! Cat is on its way to find me in hide and seek.

(Cat follows Rabbit. Alice follows Cat. Rabbit meets Flowers and hides behind them.)

Lily (to Rabbit): Why are you hiding?

Rabbit: I don’t want to lose the game.

Tulip (to Cat): Why are you chasing the Rabbit?

Cat: Because I’m hungry.

Lily: Let’s save the Rabbit!

(Flowers dance with Rabbit in the way that Cat can’t reach Rabbit.)

Cat: You get away today Rabbit, tomorrow we will try again!

(Flowers take Alice to the gate – Alice’s home garden.)

Cat (to Alice): Farewell young lady!

Alice: Farewell Cat! I shall see you again!

Rabbit: At another tea party!

Flowers: At another time!
