Good morning

Today, I with my team 2 will give presentation about Tet holiday in Vietnam. The
presentation includes 3 parts.
First is about time and meaning. Tet holiday is usually celebrated in between
january and february of the solar calendar. It’s an good oppoturnity to remove the
gap between family members, pay homage to ancestors and pray for a great and
peaceful new year.
Next, we will move on preparations. On this occasion, people always clean and
decorate their house before Tet comes. In addition, they also buy new clothes ;go
to the Tet market to buy Peach Blossoms, Kumquat trees, apricot blossoms ;make
Banh chung Banh tet.
Finally, I will give you some activities during Tet holiday. As we can see, people
do lots of activities.

 giving lì xì, or lucky money. People usually put money in red envelopes and
give it to children as a symbol of luck and happiness.
 visiting relatives, friends, and neighbors, often bringing gifts and well-
wishes. Many people also go on du xuân, or New Year trips, to visit temples,
pagodas,…. to pray for good health, peace.
 preparing an offering for their ancestors. The offering includes various foods
like chicken, bánh chưng, fruits,... This is a way to show respect and
gratitude to their ancestors.
 Xong dat. It’s a traditional activity in vietnam when Tet comes. The first
person to enter a house after midnight on New Year's Eve is believed to
bring luck to the family for the entire year.
