ORDER OF CONFIGURATION (Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 7 or 10)
COC3 – CONFIGURING COMPUTER SERVER
Initial Configuration
    1. Turn off DHCP Server in router (access Routers IP Address. Navigate to Administration > in
       LAN Parameters, uncheck DHCP Server.
    2. Make sure to remove the connection of your LAN at the back of your Client PC.
Main Configuration on SERVER
Local Server
    1. Change adapter setting and set IPV4 settings to Static IP Address.
            • IP Address: 192.168.0.3
            • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
            • Default Gateway: IP of your Router
            • Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.0.3
    2. Disable and Enable Internet.
    3. On Remote Desktop, check Allow.
    4. Restart Server Unit.
Add roles and features
   1. On Server Manage, choose Add roles and features.
   2. Click next until Server Roles and checked the following roles:
           • Active Directory and Domain Services (ADDS)
           • DHCP
           • DNS
           • File and Storage and check Work Folders
           • Print and Document Services
           • Remote Desktop Services
   3. Click Next until Remote Desktop Services. Check the following:
           • Connection Broker
           • Gateway
           • Licensing
           • Session Host
   4. Click next until Finish and restart after installing.
Post Deployment Configuration
    1. Check flag for notification. Click “Promote this server to the domain controller.
    2. Click Add new forest.
    3. Under Root domain name type etech.net and click next.
    4. On Doman Controller Options, set password to Admin2024?.
    5. Click Next until Install and restart.
    6. Check flag for notification. Click “Complete DHCP Configuration”. Click next until commit and
       restart server.
Adding of User
   1. On Tools, choose Active Directory Users and Computers.
   2. Arrow down and right click etech.net. Choose New and Organizational Unit.
   3. For the name type CSSLAB.
    4. Right click CSSLAB, choose new and choose Group and enter the following details:
           • Group Name: CSSLAB1
           • Group Scope: Domain Local
    5. Create User and enter the following:
           • First Name: Juan
           • Last Name: Dela Cruz
           • User Logon Name: jdc
    6. Click Next and enter this password: Admin2024?. Uncheck the first box and check the 2nd
       and 3rd box, click next and finish.
    7. You can add another user if you want to.
    8. Click your newly created user, right click and choose “Add to a group”.
    9. On the Check name box, type CSSLAB.
DHCP
   1.    On Tools, click DHCP.
   2.    Arrow down Server and IPV4.
   3.    Right click IPV4 and Add New Scope.
   4.    Click next and enter scope name Assessment and click next.
   5.    For the IP Address range, enter the following details and click next:
             • Start IP Address: 192.168.0.3
             • End IP Address: 192.168.0.10
    6.   Click Next until Router Default Gateway. Enter your routers IP Address (192.168.0.2) the click
         Add and click Next.
    7.   In Domain Name and DNS Server copy the address and paste it on the Server Name, click
         Resolve. Make it a point that the above and below IP Address are the same. Click Next.
    8.   On the Wins Servers, paste the server’s name and click Resolve and Add. Click Next until
         Finish.
    9.   Click IPV4 and choose Refresh.
Configuring DNS
   1. Go to Server Manager and Go to Tools.
   2. Choose DNS.
   3. Click Server – Arrow down Forward Lookup Zones – Arrow down etech.net.
   4. On the right screen right click Server - Properties – Check box “Update associated pointer –
       Warning: OK – OK
   5. Click Reverse Lookup Zones – right click – New Zone – Next until Reverse Lookup Zone Name.
   6. On the Network ID input 192.168.0 – click Next until Finish.
   7. Arrow down Reverse Lookup Value – arrow down the reverse IP – click the reverse IP – right
       click and select “New Pointer”.
   8. Under Host IP Address add the last octet “3” of the IP address of your Server (which is
       192.168.0.3)
   9. Click Browse – click Server – in Record Type: All Records – double click Server – double click
       Forward … - double click etech.net – Look and click for “Start of Authority” – OK – OK.
   10. Click Reverse Lookup Zones – right click – New Zone – Next until Reverse Lookup Zone Name.
   11. On the Network ID input 127.0.0 – click Next until Finish.
   12. Right click the newly created look back IP Address – click the reverse IP – right click and
       select “New Pointer”.
   13. Under Host IP Address add the last octet “1” (which is 127.0.0.1)
   14. Click Browse – click Server – in Record Type: All Records – double click Server – double click
       Forward … - double click etech.net – Look and click for “Start of Authority” – OK – OK.
Group Policy Management for Folder Redirection
   1. On Desktop, create folder naming “Redirection”.
   2. Right Click Redirection folder and go to Properties.
   3. Click Share. On the blank field, click arrow down and choose Everyone and click Add.
   4. Change permission level to Read and Write.
   5. Add again, click Find People and the check names enter the following.
           • CSSLAB
           • Domain Admin
           • Domain User
           • Authenticated User
   6. Set permission level to Read and Write and click Share.
   7. Go to Advance Sharing, click Share the Folder.
   8. Click Permission. Click Everyone and check Full Control and Apply.
   9. Click Add click Find People and the check names enter the following.
           • CSSLAB
           • Domain Admin
           • Domain User
           • Authenticated User
   10. Set permission to domain Address to Read and Write and click Ok.
   11. Right click the folder again, Sharing, and copy the Network Path.
   12. On Tools, click Group Policy Management.
   13. Arrow down Forest, Domain, and etech.net.
   14. Look for the CSSLAB, right click Create GPO.
           • GPO Name: Folder Redirection and RDS
   15. Right click newly created GPO and click edit.
   16. Navigate to the following path: User Configuration – Policies – Windows Settings – Folder
       Redirection.
   17. Right Click Desktop and choose Properties.
   18. On Target Setting, choose Basic and on the Rooth Path below paste the Network Path and
       Apply.
   19. On Settings, uncheck the Grant the user… click Yes and OK.
   20. Same with Documents, follow instruction 17 to 19.
   21. On the keyboard press Windows Icon + R and type gpupdate /force.
Group Policy Management for Remote Desktop Session
   1. Right click newly created GPO and click edit.
   2. Navigate to the following path: Computer Configuration – Preferences – Control Panel
       Settings – Local User and Group.
   3. Right Click Local User and Group and choose New – Local Group.
   4. On Group Name, arrow down and look for Remote Desktop.
   5. Click Add, click the 3 dots.
   6. On the Check Name field enter the following names:
           • CSSLAB - add
           • Domain Admin - add
           • Domain User – add
   7. Click Apply and OK.
   8. On the keyboard press Windows Icon + R and type gpupdate /force.
Change Advance Sharing Windows Server
    1. Go to Server Manager – Local Server – Remote Desktop – Select User and add the following
       user:
           • jdc
           • Domain Admin
           • Domain User – ok
    2. Restart Server unit.
Printer Management
    1. Go to Server and search Devices and Printers.
    2. Choose the “Printer isn’t listed …” to add manually.
    3. Choose “Add local printer” – Next – Next – wait for the list to populate and choose any
        printer under Brother brand – Wait for it finish installing driver – Finish.
    4. Right click the added printer – Properties – Check box “List in Directory” – Apply.
    5. Select Security Tab and add the following users and domains:
            • CSSLAB
            • jdc
            • Domain Admin
            • Domain User
            • Administrator
            • Authenticated User
    6. Allow all added user and domains and click “Full Control” – Apply - OK
Main Configuration on CLIENT
Initial Configuration
    1.   Disable Firewall both Server and Client.
    2.   Change Time Zone to Taipei.
    3.   Change time and date to current.
    4.   Turn on all sharing options and turn off for Password protecting sharing.
Join Domain
    1. Plug the LAN cable at the back of your client unit.
    2. Make sure to set your Adapter settings IP to Obtain Automatically.
    3. Access CMD and type “ipconfig”. Make sure that your Server has assigned an IP, Subnet, and
       Default Gateway base on the DHCP that you have set.
           • Must be connected to etech.net
           • IP Address must be between 192.168.0.3 to 192.168.0.10
           • Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
           • Default gateway is 192.168.0.2 (your routers IP Address)
    4. Make sure that you are connected with your LAN.
    5. Open Folder – Right click This PC – Properties – Change Settings – Change
    6. Under Member of, choose Domain and type etech.net – More – and for the primary DNS
       type “client” – OK.
    7. Hit Ok and enter the Username and password of your Server Unit.
    8. Once you see the message that welcomes you to the domain, click OK.
    9. Restart Client unit.
Remote Desktop Change Setting
   1. Change PC name to Client PC.
   2. Got to Remote and tick the radial button for Allow and add the following users:
          • Administrator
          • CSSLAB1
          • Domain Admins
          • Domain Users
          • jdc
   3. Apply – Restart.
Joining on your created User
    1. Choose Other User. Enter the credentials made for the user.
    2. On the keyboard press Windows Icon + R and type gpupdate /force. Wait for it respond and
        type Y for Yes and enter.
Folder Redirection
    1. Make a folder on the Desktop and rename it as ClientFiles.
    2. Once successful, go to your server and check if the folder that you have created is reflected
        on the Folder Redirection and RDS folder.
    3. Try as well to make a folder in the Documents folder.
Remote Desktop on Server to Client
   1. Go to Server and search Remote Desktop Connection.
   2. Enter your computer name and user name.
   3. Then input the password of your Client PC.
   4. If encountering problem connecting Client PC, add Domain User on the remote settings and
      restart.
Remote Desktop on Client to Server
    1. Go to Client and search Remote Desktop Connection.
    2. On the computer name type the IP Address of your Server Unit.
    3. Then input the password of your Server PC.
Printing
    1. Make a text document on the Desktop and rename the file to “Sample File Printing”.
    2. Open the file and type “CSSLAB Assessment”.
    3. Save the document.
    4. Print document and check below if your printer is reflected in the list – PRINT.
    5. Once error check your server if the error printing had push through.
