Introduce Descriptive Phrases:

give example for each phrase:

Step Script
Giving a model of describing the picture a to prepare for the activity to
describe the picture c:
The speaking model:
The photo shows a woman hiking in a forest. She (who?) is (what is she
Model doing) walking on a (where) muddy trail surrounded by tall green trees. (Go
further into the details) She is wearing boots, black trousers, and a bright green
jacket, and she’s carrying a rucksack on her back. In her hands, she’s holding
two trekking poles. Judging by her expression, I’d say she’s feeling happy
and excited. (personal comment) She seems to be well-prepared for an
adventurous and active day outdoors (What is it for?).
- I’ll divide the class into two teams.
- Each team will be responsible for describing the photo C.
- Each row of the team will take one part of the speaking strategy (general idea,
interesting details, or personal comment/speculation).
Giving - Work together to prepare your part. Once your team finishes, you’ll raise
instruction your hand to indicate you’re ready.
- The first team to finish will go first. Choose one representative from your
team to speak out loud and present your team’s part of the speaking strategy.
- While the representative is speaking, the other students should listen
carefully and think about whether their presentation follows the speaking
strategy well.
