A General Requirements
Cement-mortar lining is uniform in thickness, except at joints or
other discontinuities in the pipe wall. The thickness shall be as
01-SAMSS-005,
A1 listed in
Sec. III, (B)
TABLE-1 (Refer to Attachment-1)
(AWWA C205, Para. 4.4.2).
The thickness of the cement lining shall be checked within 0.6m of 01-SAMSS-005,

the end of the pipe at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions. Para. 4.4.2.3
For sleeved pipe, there is no cutback. The cement mortar lining is 01-SAMSS-005,

flush with the end of the pipe. Para. 4.4.2.1
For pipes designated for butt welding, the cement mortar lining
01-SAMSS-005,
A4 shall be cut back a minimum of 10 mm to a maximum of 25 mm
Para. 4.4.2.2
from the end of the pipe.
Any lining holdbacks for the type of joint required, are as specified 01-SAMSS-005,

by Saudi Aramco, (AWWA C205, Para. 4.4.4.5). Sec. III, (B)
Cement Mortar cylinder test results verified for acceptance.
Any pipe lining not meeting the strength requirements of standards 01-SAMSS-005,

shall be rejected.(Refer to Attachment-1) Sec. III, (B)

B Defective lining
All defects (sand pockets, voids, over sanded areas, blisters, and
cracking), shall be cut out and replaced by hand or pneumatic 01-SAMSS-005,

placement to the same thickness as required for the cement- Sec. III, (B)
mortar lining. (AWWA C205, Para 4.4.6.1)
Lining cracks: Temperature and shrinkage cracks in the cement
mortar lining less than 1/16" (1.6 mm) in width need not be
repaired. Cracks wider than 1/16" (1.6 mm) need not be repaired if 01-SAMSS-005,

it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the purchaser that the Sec. III, (B)
cracks will heal autogenously under continuous soaking in water.

C Curing of Lining
Pipe Lining curing is completed as specified in approved
01-SAMSS-005,
C1 procedure.
