Trch- Turning chain, the rst chain/chains of a row

Instructions:
This pattern starts with a magic ring. Here is a step by step on how to make a magic ring:

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

The leafs:
- Start by making a magic circle with color 1
- Working into the magic circle: ch 1, sc 6, tighten. (tot 6, ch is not included in the count)
- Ch 1, inc by 1 hdc in each st (tot 12)

Now that we have a little circle, we are going to make the «strawberry leafs» into it. You will
work your stitches into each new row of chains.

- *Ch 6, skip 2, sc1 into the next stitch (3rd st from ch), hdc 1, dc 2 (tot 4). Now skip 1 st on
the circle and slp into next st* repeat 5 more times and you should end up with 6 «leafs»

Note: The leafs in color 1 can also be made separate and then sewn onto the top of the hat. To do
that you will have to fasten o f when you nish the leaves, then with color 2 start over with the
magic circle skip the *Ch 6, skip 2, sc1 into the next stitch (3rd st from ch), hdc 1, dc 2 (tot 4)*
row and the following row, then continue as described.

-Change to color 2, slp onto back loop on one of the chains on your «leaf circle», (you want to
slp on to the second row (tot 12) and continue to slp on back loop in all of the stitches, then
slp onto rst stitch and leave a stitch marker.

- Ch 1,*hdc 1, inc by 1 hdc* repeat 5 more times (tot 18) slp onto rst hdc,
-Ch 1,* hdc 2, inc by 1 hdc * repeat 5 more times (tot 24) slp onto rst hdc
-Ch 1, *hdc 3, inc by 1 hdc * repeat 5 more times (tot 30) slp onto rst hdc
-Ch 1, *hdc 4, inc by 1 hdc * repeat 5 more times (tot 36) slp onto rst hdc
-Ch 1, *hdc 5, inc by 1 hdc * repeat 5 more times (tot 42) slp onto rst hdc
-Ch 1, *hdc 6, inc by 1 hdc * repeat 5 more times (tot 48) slp onto rst hdc
For size small stop increasing here!

For a size medium do one more round of increasing:

-Ch 1, *hdc 7, inc by 1 hdc * repeat 5 more times (tot 54) slp onto rst hdc
For size large stop increasing here!

For a size large do one more round of increasing:

-Ch 1, *hdc 8, inc by 1 hdc * repeat 5 more times (tot 60) slp onto rst hdc

Try on your «hat» to check your size, now we will go on to crochet the sides of our strawberry
hat. From now on the turning chain will count as a stitch!
P.S. It can be very useful to continue to use stitch markers. Let’s continue!

SMALL
-Ch 2, hdc 47, (tot 48), slip onto trch.
- *Ch 2, sc 8, hdc 15, sc 9, (tot 33), turn* repeat 1 more time (tot 2 rows)
- *Ch 2, hdc 32, turn* repeat 5 more times (tot 6 rows)
- Ch 2, hdc 6, sc 19, hdc 7
- Ch 13, (this is for the strap going under your chin, so the amount of chains may vary
depending on how long you will want it), turn
- Ch 1, skip 3, dc 9 in your new chain, slp onto main piece, fasten and cut thread

MEDIUM
-Ch 2, hdc 53, (tot 54), slip onto trch.
- *Ch 2, sc 8, hdc 21, sc 9, (tot 39), turn* repeat 1 more time (tot 2 rows)
- *Ch 2, hdc 38, turn* repeat 5 more times (tot 6 rows)
- Ch 2, hdc 6, sc 25, hdc 7
- Ch 15, (this is for the strap going under your chin, so the amount of chains may vary
depending on how long you will want it), turn
- Ch 1, skip 3, dc 12 in your new chain, slp onto main piece, fasten and cut thread

LARGE
-Ch 2, hdc 59, (tot 60), slip onto trch.
- *Ch 2, sc 8, hdc 27, sc 9, (tot 45), turn* repeat 1 more time (tot 2 rows)
- *Ch 2, hdc 44, turn* repeat 5 more times (tot 6 rows)
- Ch 2, hdc 6, sc 31, hdc 7
- Ch 18, (this is for the strap going under your chin, so the amount of chains may vary
depending on how long you will want it), turn
- Ch 1, skip 3, dc 16 in your new chain, slp onto main piece, fasten and cut thread

Now you’re almost nished! The only things missing is the «strawberry seeds» and a button for
the under chin strap. Find a button you like and that will enter the loop open the end of the strap
and sew it on in a position that makes it comfortable for you to wear it. For the «seeds» take your
yarn in color 3 and use a big embroidery needle to embroider v like shapes around the hat to
create your strawberry.
