What is LinkedIn
LinkedIn, a professional networking platform that connects people worldwide with a

platform is designed to allow users to create profiles that emphasize their professional
experience, education, skills, and accomplishments. Aside form this LinkedIn also be
used for sharing useful information (give example; the prediction of Tesla stock after
election)

Purpose of LinkedIn
The main objectives of this platform is to provide more opportunities for the job seekers,
H.R. in order to facilitate the process of recruitment. Especially, for a company or person
who look forward to work abroad or find the foreign workers.

2) A brief history of the platform


• 2002 → LinkedIn was founded by Reid Hoffman and a team of PayPal
• 2003 → Official launch of LinkedIn in May as a professional networking platform,
marking its entry to the social media space.
• 2016 → Acquired by Microsoft for $26.2 billion, expanding LinkedIn’s capabilities and
integrating with Microsoft’s ecosystem.
• 2020 → Experienced significant user growth as remote work surged during the
Covid-19 pandemic, making LinkedIn more critical than ever for professional

Advertisers can utilize various formats, such as sponsored content or display ads to
target specific audiences based on industry, job title, and other criteria.

• Indeed → A major search engine that allows users to find job listings and post
resumes.
o Job Listings and Recruitment Solutions → Similar to LinkedIn, Indeed offers a

wide range of employment opportunities.
o Employer Branding → Like LinkedIn, Indeed allows companies to create
profiles that showcase their brand, culture, and values to attract potential

• Glassdoor → Known for company reviews and salary insights, the platform provides
transparency on workspaces(they includes the details on company, employee
experiences, welfare benefits, and management practices, and also has job listings.
o Employer Reviews and Insights: Glassdoor, like LinkedIn, Provides Users with

employees to aid in job search decisions.

tools for companies to find potential employees, making it a resource for

expertise in making Jobs seeking platform. Especially content sharing and
Engagement → The functionality makes LinkedIn users feel more like a community,
where users can learn, discuss, and stay updated on their interest industrial trends.
That others platform may not offer.
• LinkedIn has the most users → They have over 1 billion users worldwide

LinkedIn plays a significant role in facilitating globalization by connecting professionals
companies, and industries across borders.
• Cultural Exchange (short video on LinkedIn) → Many different countries have their
own concept of workplaces. By connecting professionals from different cultures and
backgrounds, LinkedIn promotes cross-cultural understanding. This cultural exchange
fosters more inclusive workplaces, where employees learn to appreciate diverse view
points and work styles.
• Job Opportunities Across Borders → LinkedIn’s job search features enable users to

markets. Employers can also reach candidates globally, expanding their talent pool

upcoming years

refine its AI to provide more accurate and personalized job recommendations based
on users’ skills and career goals.
o Furthermore, they will develop a new AI features called “ Smart Content
Suggestions “, by this mean AI will suggest content tailored to users’ interests.
• Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Networking → As virtual reality
becomes more mainstream, LinkedIn could host virtual networking events and
conferences where users may interact to each other through VR environment.
o AR-Enhanced Profiles: With AR, LinkedIn profiles could become more interactive,
allowing users to showcase their projects, portfolios, and achievement in
immersive ways. For instance, job candidates could create a virtual portfolio tour
to highlight their work.
