BOOK BY JEFFREY LANE
Jeffrey Lane was most recently represented on Broadway
by his work with David Yazbek for the musical version of
Pedro Almodóvar’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous
Breakdown. His work for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels earned
him both Tony and Drama Desk nominations, as well as
the Drama League Award for Best Musical. Perhaps best
known for such television programs as Mad About You,
Ryan’s Hope, Lou Grant, Cagney & Lacey, the AFI Life
Achievement Awards, the Tony Awards, The Days and
Nights of Molly Dodd and the miniseries The Murder of
Mary Phagan, he is the winner of five Emmy Awards,
three Writers Guild Awards, two Peabodys, a Golden
Globe and the Christopher Award, and the relatively
good-natured loser of many more. According to IMDb, he
also played Clarice’s father in the film The Silence of the
Lambs. But he didn’t.

MUSIC AND LYRICS BY

DAVID YAZBEK
A varied career as a recording artist, Emmy-winning TV
and film writer, music producer and pianist has somehow
led Yazbek to a career on Broadway. His four shows,
The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Women on the
Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and The Band’s Visit,
were all Tony-nominated for Best Score. Yazbek took
home the Tony for Best Score for The Band’s Visit. The
Full Monty won him the Drama Desk Award for Best
Music. As a recording artist, Yazbek is responsible for five
albums: The Laughing Man (winner NAIRD award, Best
Pop Album of the Year), Tock, Damascus, Tape Recorder
and Evil Monkey Man. He also produced the original cast
albums of The Band’s Visit, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels and Women on the Verge of a Nervous
Breakdown, the first three of which were nominated for
Grammy Awards. Yazbek scored the final season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, scored and
performed the music for Larry David’s giant Broadway hit Fish in the Dark, and built an Ikea
storage shelf. Yazbek teamed up with 13 librettist Robert Horn to collaborate on the musical
Tootsie, which won the Tony for Best Book of a Musical and was nominated for a total of 11
Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

FOR ASSISTANCE AND ACCESSIBILITY

UEST SERVICE
We’re here to help. Our facilities are accessible, and we offer assistive
devices and services to patrons as and when required. If you need
assistance, please ask the House Manager or any member of the Stratford
Festival team.

CAMERAS, CELL PHONES AND

OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES
For the safety of the artists and in accordance with the intellectual property
associated with the productions, all cameras, audio and video recorders
must be turned off during the performance. In addition, please turn off all
mobile devices, as their sounds and lights will disturb actors and other
guests. If you require access to an electronic device for accessibility
needs, please discuss with the House Manager prior to the performance.

We offer auditorium-friendly cups for our beverages and invite you to
bring your drink to your seat.* Bottled water is also permitted; however,
all snacks are to be enjoyed outside the auditorium.
*Complimentary beverages served within the members lounge cannot be
consumed outside the lounge.

MEMBERS LOUNGE
We offer three complimentary lounges for those who generously
contribute financial gifts beyond their ticket purchases. For information on
how to access our lounges, please visit stratfordfestival.ca/Membership.

LATE ARRIVAL AND READMISSION

If you arrive late or leave the auditorium during the performance, we will
make every effort to seat you at a suitable break. Please be advised that
this may not be the seat you are ticketed for, depending on its location in
the theatre. In the interim or in the event we cannot reseat you safely, we
invite you to watch the performance on our lobby monitors.

FIRST AID
We take patron health and safety seriously. Any member of our team will
coordinate first-aid assistance for you if required. Automated external
defibrillators (AEDs) are available at all our venues.
