Difference between Fruit Drinks and Fruit Juice

Fruit Juice: It contains undiluted fruit juice or almost 4% diluted, option


of almost 4% of sugar or no sugar at all.

While fruit drink: Must contains at least 5% of fruit juice in water


and sugar as required artificial flavors can be added to fruit juice.

SMOOTHY
Fruit smoothie is a drink made from pureed raw fruits or vegetables
with use of a blender or smoothie maker .A smoothie often has a liquid
base such as water, fruit juice and dairy products such as milk, yoghurt,
and ice-cream.

SALADS
Salad is a dish of various mixture of raw or cooked vegetables usually
seasoned with oil, vinegar or other dressings and sometimes
accompanied by meat, fish or other ingredients.

HOW TO WASH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.


Wash your fruit under a running water while gently rubbing it afterward
add vinegar or little salt into a water in a large bowl and rinse your
washed fruits or vegetable in it and drain.

Fruits and vegetables are rinsed in vinegar or salt water to get rid
of the bacteria in it.
1) Watermelon Lemonade

 2 cup of diced deseeded watermelon


 ¼ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
 1 cup of water
 2 tablespoon of sugar
 Combine all the ingredients and blend
 Serve with ice cubes or refrigerate and serve chilled
 Garnish with cocktail umbrella if needed.

2) Apple and Grape Juice

 2 cups of apple
 1 cup of grapes
 1 Ginger root
 1 tablespoon of sugar (optional)
 Combine all the ingredients and blend using a blender
 Sieve and add more water to the remains and blend again
 Sieve again, add ice cubes in a glass cup and serve.

3) Pineapple and Cucumber Drink


 1 cup of diced cucumber
 1 cup of pineapple
 ½ cup of lemon juice
 2 cups of water
 1 tablespoon of sugar
 Combine all ingredients and blend
 Sieve, serve and garnish.
4) Banana and Pear Smoothie

 1 pear,2 banana
 Two cups of sweetened yoghurt
 Ice cubes
 Combine all ingredients and blend in a blender and serve

5) Watermelon Smoothie

 2 cups of watermelon
 1 cup of milk
 Blend and serve chilled

6) Pineapple Drink

 1 cup of fresh pineapple


 ½ root fresh ginger
 5 mint leaves
 ½ cup of lemon juice
 2 tablespoon of sugar
 1 cup of water
 Sieve and add more water to he remains and again and
serve.

7) Cocoa Drink

 1/8 cup unsweetened Cocoa powder


 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder or flavor
 ¼ cup of sugar
 2 cup of milk.
In a pan, mix sugar cocoa and salt together and stir in
water. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring
constantly for about two minutes and chocolate is silky
smooth.
Add milk to the pan and stir until hot. Do not allow to
boil.
Remove from heat and stir, serve hot or cold.

8) Apple and Carrot Immune Booster

 1 apple
 1 carrot
 1 ginger root
 1 orange
 1 cup of water
 Blend all and serve.

9) Strawberry and Banana Smoothie

 1 cup of frozen strawberry


 2 bananas
 1 cup of milk
 Blend all ingredients and until smooth and serve

10) Kiwi and Apple Juice

 1 medium kiwi
 1 medium green apple
 1 cup of water
 1 spoon of sugar
 Peel the kiwi, blend together with apple and water with one
tablespoon of sugar.

11) Papaya Juice

 2 cups of papaya
 ¼ lemon juice
 4 tablespoon of sugar
 2 cups of water
 Blend all ingredients and serve in a cup with ice cubes.

12) Baobab Fruit Drink

 Baobab (kwalba)
 Ginger
 Sugar(not to be included in diabetic patient’s drink)
 Wash the baobab fruit and soak for 30 minutes to 1 hour
 Grate ginger root to paste and mix with the soaked baobab
seed, add sugar and squeeze very well and sieve
 Refrigerate and serve chilled.

13) Strawberries and Pineapple Drink

 ¼ cup of lemon juice


 1 cup of strawberries
 1 cup, pineapple
 3 cups of water
 3 tablespoon of sugar
 Blend all ingredients and sieve, serve in glass cup with ice
cubes.

14) Grape and Lemon Drink


 2 lemons
 1 orange juice
 1 cup of grapes
 3 cups of water
 2 table spoons of sugar
 Squeeze lemon and orange in a cup, sieve out the seeds
 Blend grapes, add orange juice and lemon juice, add sugar
and water and sieve and serve chilled.

SALADS
1) Gizzard Salad

 Carrot, peas, yellow pepper, sweet pepper, green beans,


cabbage, black pepper, vinegar, washed fresh ginger, onions,
olive oil, and seasoning.

Methods
Cut the gizzard into four pieces each and cook with salt, black pepper
and little onions until well cooked.

Shred the washed vegetables except cabbage into the gizzard and
vinegar little water and seasoning cover under low flame and steam,
when the vegetables are tender, add cabbage and olive oil and cover
for 1 minute and serve.

2) Fattoush Salad

 Lettuce
 Cucumber
 Tomato
 Parsley (optional)
 carrot
 Onion
 Pita bread
 Olive oil

Dressing
 Olive oil
 Lime Juice
 Salt
 Black pepper

Methods
Washed: Chop all vegetables and mix them together.
Heat a pan over medium heat and brush with vegetable oil or
olive oil on both sides of pita braeds, cut the and place them
in a pan and toast until golden brown and crispy set aside.
Pour dressing over salads and mix well.
Top with toasted pita bread and serve immediately.

3) Avocado Salad
 Cucumber
 Avocado
 Tomato
 Onions
 Chop all vegetables and mix in a bowl.

Dressing
 Lemon Juice
 Vinegar
 Olive Oil
 Honey
 Mashed Garlic or garlic powder
 Chopped Parsley
 Dried Oregano
 Salt
 Black pepper powder
 Mix all ingredients in a bowl and dress on salad.

4) Cauli Flower Salad

 Cauli Flower
 Carrot
 Green Beans
 Peas
 Lettuce
 Onions
 Olive Oil
 Vinegar
 salt
Chop all vegetables, remove the caulis flower from the
root and pieces it, wash and steam all ingredients
except lettuce olive oil and magi. When the vegetables
are tender, allow to cool and add the lettuce,
seasoning, vinegar and olive oil. Mix together and
serve.

5) Cucumber Salad

 Cucumber
 Tomato
 Onions
 Sweet pepper and Yellow pepper
 Olive oil
 Vinegar
 Yellow pepper
 Salt
 Chili powder
 Black pepper

Methods
Place sliced cucumber, tomatoes and onions in a medium bowl.
Add the rest of the ingredient and mix, serve immediately or chill for
few minutes.

6) Chicken Salad

 Chicken Salads
 Lettuce
 Tomatoes
 Carrot
 Onion
 Sesame seeds for trooping
 Vinegar
 Mayonnaise
 Black pepper
 Ginger Powder
 Seasoning
 Chili powder
Thinly slice the chicken breast and marinate for 30
minutes in a pan, grill both side. Shred the chicken
breast after grilling and keep aside. Chop vegetables
and mix them in a bowl, add chicken, vinegar,
mayonnaise, black pepper, ginger powder, salt, chili
powder and mix serve immediately.

7) Tuna Salad

 Canned Tuna
 Cucumber
 Onions
 Tomato
 Parsley
 Garlic
 Italian Seasoning
 Olive oil
 Vinegar
 Carrot/sweet pepper
Chop all ingredients in a bowl, drain tuna, mix in the
bowl of salad adds salt to taste and serve.

8) Coleslaw

 Cabbage
 Carrot
 Sweet pepper
 Parsley
 Cucumber
 Onions
 Mayonnaise
 Sugar
 Vinegar

Shred the vegetable and mix all in bowl with all


ingredients and serve.

9) Cabbage Salad

 Cabbage
 Tomato
 Cucumber
 Parsley
 Olive oil
 Salt
 Vinegar
 Chili powder.

10) Fruit Salad

 Red Apple
 Pineapple
 Green Apple
 Paw Paw
 Banana
 Watermelon
 Orange
 Lemon juice
 Grapes
 Honey

Method
Squeeze lemon and orange in a cup and deseed, mix
with two table spoon of honey. Dice all the fruits and
mix with the honey and lemon mixture.Refregirate and
serve chill or serve immediately.
