THE BODY
Introduction
Work Immersion in the K to 12 curriculum is a hands-on training program where Grade
12 students work in a real job setting for about 80 hours. This helps us learn practical
skills, explore career options, and improve our chances of getting a job after graduation.
It’s important because it bridges the gap between school and work, making students like
us more prepared and confident for our future careers.
The objectives of Work Immersion
By the end of the work immersion program, I should have a solid grasp of what my
chosen field really entails, putting my classroom learning into practice. I’ll have
improved my workplace skills – things like teamwork, communication, and time
management – and built a valuable work history to add to my resume. I also have a
better understanding of my own strengths and weaknesses, helping me to clarify my
career goals. Plus, I’ll likely have made some professional connections that could be
helpful down the road. And finally, I’ll have a portfolio showcasing my
accomplishments. Essentially, I’ll be better prepared for my future career.

picture of its significance, detailing how this practical experience would complement our
theoretical knowledge and provide invaluable real-world skills. The instructors
underscored the program's multifaceted benefits, ranging from the development of
crucial professional competencies to the acquisition of practical experience directly
applicable to our chosen fields. They emphasized that this immersion wasn't merely
about fulfilling a curriculum requirement, but rather about actively shaping our
professional identities and building a strong foundation for future success.
Beyond the technical skills and practical experience, the instructors also focused on the
crucial soft skills necessary for thriving in a professional environment. They provided
guidance on professional etiquette, emphasizing the importance of respectful
communication with colleagues and supervisors at all levels. This included detailed
discussions on appropriate workplace attire, highlighting the significance of adhering to
dress codes as a demonstration of professionalism and respect for the workplace
environment. The instructors stressed the importance of obedience and respect
towards supervisors, emphasizing that a positive and collaborative attitude is essential
for a successful work experience and future career progression. They painted a clear
picture of the expectations in a professional setting, preparing us not just for the
technical aspects of our chosen fields, but also for the nuanced social dynamics of the
workplace.
LGU Building- (January 28, 2025)

DAY 2 (January 30, 2025)
Upon our arrival at the Municipal Risk Reduction and Disaster Management Office
(MRRDMO), we received a warm welcome and were formally introduced to the staff. A
short meeting followed, focusing on our work immersion program. Sir Marvin Mendoza,
our liaison, facilitated the introduction to the head of the MDRRMO division, Sir Arcris
Canillo. During this introductory meeting, Sir Canillo and Sir Mendoza stressed the
commitment of the MRRDMO to maximizing our learning experience. They assured us
that by the end of our immersion, we would have gained significant knowledge and
practical skills. Their commitment to our development was evident from the outset.
Following the encouraging introductory meeting, we immediately commenced our first
assignment. Our initial task involved the creation of a comprehensive chart outlining a
family disaster preparedness plan. This chart was intended to be a key component of
their ongoing public awareness campaign, designed to educate and assist the
community in disaster preparedness and response. The detailed chart would serve as a
valuable resource for disseminating crucial information to the public.
Subsequently, we were assigned a second task, focusing on the practical aspects of
disaster preparedness. This involved laminating a series of go-bag checklists. These
checklists, once laminated for durability, would provide clear and concise guidance on
essential items to include in emergency preparedness kits. The creation of these
laminated checklists was a crucial step in ensuring the accessibility and longevity of
this vital information for the community. This hands-on experience provided valuable
insight into the practical implementation of disaster preparedness strategies.
2
DAY 3 (January 31, 2025)
On our third day, we dedicated our efforts to the creation of Family Disaster
Preparedness Plans. Our ambitious goal was to produce twenty-five complete plans, a
significant undertaking requiring a coordinated team effort. My role focused on the
meticulous task of writing the chart, ensuring clarity and accuracy in the information
presented. Meanwhile, my colleagues diligently worked to maintain the precision and
uniformity of the plan’s layout, carefully ensuring that all lines were straight and evenly
spaced. While we didn’t quite reach our target number of completed plans that day, we
remained undeterred. Recognizing the importance of providing comprehensive
preparedness materials, we transitioned to the equally crucial task of preparing the go-
bag checklists. These checklists, designed to be included in each emergency
preparedness bag distributed to community members, were carefully cut out, ready for
insertion. This efficient use of our time ensured that we made significant progress
towards our overall objective of equipping the community with the necessary tools for
disaster preparedness.
DAY 4 (February 3, 2025)
The week commenced on Monday morning with a flag ceremony held prominently in
front of the municipal hall. This formal event served as a fitting prelude to the day’s
crucial tasks. Following the ceremony, our team immediately resumed work on the
Family Disaster Preparedness Plan, a project demanding meticulous attention to detail.
Our dedication to ensuring both clarity and high quality resulted in a three-day
commitment to its completion. We understood the gravity of providing accurate and
easily understandable information to the community, and this commitment shaped our
approach to the task. Once the plan was finalized, we shifted our focus to the practical
aspects of community preparedness. This involved the careful repackaging of
emergency kits into the designated go-bags, a process requiring precision and
organization to ensure that each bag contained the necessary supplies. This phase of
the operation was critical in ensuring that the community would be well-equipped in the
event of a disaster. Finally, to further enhance the usability and accessibility of the go-
bags, we diligently punched a large quantity of go-bag checklists. These checklists,
designed to provide a clear and concise inventory of the contents of each bag, were
meticulously prepared and attached, completing the final stage of our preparedness
efforts for the day.

DAY 5 (February 4, 2025)
The morning session commenced with a comprehensive discussion on disaster
preparedness, focusing on proactive strategies and mitigation techniques to minimize
the impact of potential disasters. The session, led by Mr. Marvin Mendoza, provided
valuable insights into various aspects of disaster management, including risk
assessment, emergency response planning, and community resilience. Following Mr.
Mendoza’s informative presentation, a pre-test was administered to evaluate our initial
understanding of the material covered. I achieved a score of 8 out of 10 on this
assessment, indicating a solid grasp of the fundamental concepts. The afternoon
brought a more rigorous evaluation in the form of a post-test, designed to thoroughly
assess our comprehension and application of the knowledge gained. This assessment
proved more challenging, but I was pleased to achieve a perfect score, demonstrating a
significant improvement in my understanding of the subject matter. To further solidify
our learning and encourage collaborative engagement, a group activity was
implemented. This activity involved a series of carefully crafted questions that served
as a practical application of the concepts discussed earlier in the day. The collaborative
nature of this exercise fostered teamwork and allowed for a deeper understanding of the
material through peer interaction and discussion. As a culmination of the day’s learning
and to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of the participants, a rewarding
incentive program was implemented. Those who demonstrated exceptional
comprehension and engagement received well-deserved recognition in the form of
practical go-bags, filled with essential emergency supplies, and delicious chocolates.
Finally, to provide valuable feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of
the training program, we were each given an evaluation form. This form allowed us to
assess the effectiveness of Mr. Mendoza’s teaching methods and provide constructive
feedback to enhance future sessions. This comprehensive approach ensured a
thorough understanding of disaster preparedness and fostered a sense of community
preparedness.
2
DAY 6 (February 5, 2025)
The next phase of our project involved the meticulous task of laminating the go-bag
checklists. This process required careful attention to detail to ensure the longevity and
readability of these crucial documents. Each checklist was meticulously arranged and
aligned within the laminating machine to guarantee even coverage and prevent any
potential damage or warping during the lamination process. This careful preparation
was essential to maintain the integrity of the checklists and ensure their usability in
emergency situations. Maintaining consistent alignment was crucial to prevent uneven
lamination, which could compromise the readability and durability of the checklists.
After the lamination process was complete, we proceeded to carefully cut each
laminated checklist to its precise dimensions. This step required precision and patience
to ensure that each checklist was neatly trimmed and ready for insertion into the go-
bags. The precision cutting was essential to ensure a professional and aesthetically
pleasing final product, further enhancing the overall quality of the go-bags. Once all the
checklists were neatly trimmed, the final stage involved the careful handling and storage
of the completed go-bag kits. This involved the collaborative effort of transporting a
substantial sack filled to capacity with the prepared go-bags. The weight and bulk of
the sack necessitated a coordinated approach to ensure safe and efficient handling.
The go-bags were then carefully stored in designated containers, ensuring their
protection and readiness for distribution to the community. This organized storage was
crucial to maintain the integrity of the kits and ensure their availability when needed.
The entire process, from lamination to storage, underscored our commitment to
providing the community with high-quality, well-prepared emergency kits.
DAY 7 (February 6, 2025)
The seventh day of our training program focused on essential first-aid procedures. We
2
received comprehensive instruction on a range of first-aid techniques designed to equip
us with the skills necessary to provide immediate assistance to individuals in need of
medical attention. The curriculum covered a variety of common injuries and illnesses,
emphasizing practical application and hands-on experience. A significant portion of the
training was dedicated to the proper application of triangular bandages, a versatile and
essential tool in providing temporary support and immobilization to injured limbs. We
practiced applying these bandages in various scenarios, ensuring we could effectively
and efficiently use this technique in real-world emergency situations. This practical
training was complemented by detailed explanations of the underlying principles and
potential complications, ensuring a thorough understanding of the procedure. In
addition to the first-aid training, we were also assigned an important administrative
task: the organization and management of disaster records. This involved meticulously
sorting and arranging documents related to victims of past disasters, including detailed
information on injuries, medical treatment, and recovery efforts. Furthermore, we were
responsible for compiling and updating a comprehensive record of the number and
intensity of typhoons that have impacted our region over the years. This data is crucial
for long-term disaster preparedness and risk assessment, allowing for more effective
planning and resource allocation in the future. The combination of practical first-aid
training and administrative tasks provided a well-rounded experience, enhancing both
our immediate response capabilities and our understanding of the broader context of
disaster management.
DAY 8 (February 7, 2025)
As part of our assigned duties, the staff directed us to undertake the crucial task of
labeling numerous document folders. These folders contained a comprehensive archive
of disaster records, meticulously documenting past events and their impact on the
community. The labeling process required careful attention to detail, ensuring each
2
folder was clearly and accurately identified with the appropriate information, including
the specific disaster event, date, and relevant content. This meticulous labeling was
essential for efficient retrieval and organization of the vital records, facilitating quick
access to critical information in the event of future emergencies or research needs. The
accurate and consistent labeling of these folders was a significant contribution to the
overall organization and accessibility of the disaster records archive. Following the
completion of the labeling task, I took the initiative to contribute to the overall upkeep
and maintenance of our workspace. Recognizing the importance of a clean and
organized office environment for productivity and efficiency, I diligently swept and
thoroughly cleaned our office space. This included dusting surfaces, emptying trash
receptacles, and ensuring the overall tidiness of the area. Maintaining a clean and
organized workspace is not only aesthetically pleasing but also contributes to a more
productive and positive work environment, fostering a sense of order and
professionalism. My efforts in cleaning the office were a demonstration of my
commitment to maintaining a high standard of workplace hygiene and contributing to a
positive and efficient work environment for all staff members.
DAY 9 (February 10, 2025)
Our final day at the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office
(MDRRMO) proved to be both informative and rewarding. The morning commenced
with a practical task: laminating a collection of important documents. This process,
while seemingly straightforward, underscored the importance of preserving vital
information for future reference and ensuring its longevity. The careful handling and
precise alignment of each document within the laminating machine highlighted the
2
meticulous nature of record-keeping within the MDRRMO. Following the lamination, we
received valuable instruction on interpreting the magnitude apparatus scale, a crucial
tool in understanding the severity of seismic events. The training provided a deeper
understanding of the technical aspects of earthquake measurement, differentiating
between the magnitude, which represents the energy released at the earthquake’s
source, and the intensity, which describes the effects of the earthquake at a specific
location. This enhanced our comprehension of the complexities involved in assessing
earthquake risks and the importance of accurate data interpretation. As the day drew to
a close, we expressed our sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff of the MDRRMO for
their invaluable guidance and the wealth of knowledge they had shared with us
throughout our time there. To show our appreciation, we collectively decided to
purchase pizzas for the entire team. The evening unfolded in a relaxed and convivial
atmosphere as we shared the pizzas, engaging in lively conversation and fostering a
sense of camaraderie with the staff. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the
opportunity to spend time with Sir Marvin Mendoza, engaging in pleasant conversation
and sharing stories, further strengthening the bonds formed during our enriching
experience at the MDRRMO. The final day served as a fitting culmination to our time
there, leaving us with a profound appreciation for the vital work of the MDRRMO and the
lasting relationships we had established.
