IELTS Speaking Feedback (Part 2)
Student: Quynh
Thank you for completing your speaking homework. I appreciate the effort
you put into your response. You spoke with confidence and showed clear
engagement with the task. Keep up the great work
Fluency and Coherence
You were able to speak without long pauses (HOWEVER THERE WERE
PAUSES THAT AFFECTED THE FLOW OF SPEECH) and kept your story
flowing. That’s a great strength. But, you often joined too many ideas into
one very long sentence.
Tip: Try to pause naturally between ideas and use linking words and
phrases like (First, Then, Luckily, As a result…) to guide the listener
through your story. Use shorter sentences as well as they will also help
make your speech clearer.
Lexical Resource
You used nice vocabulary such as (unexpected issues, excitement,
teamwork, unforgettable ) and more this shows a growing range of words.
However, there were some awkward word choices and phrases that didn’t
sound natural, such as:
was impressed me → You can say left a strong impression on me.
absorb many knowledge → A better phrase is gain a lot of
knowledge.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy
You attempted to use complex ideas and sentences, which is good, but there were
frequent grammar errors that affected your meaning. Examples:
was impressed me → should be impressed me or left an impression on
me.
although I was nervous but it turned out...→ Avoid using both
although and but together.
Article and plural mistakes, such as many memory instead of many
memories.
it’s can test our teamwork (It can test our teamwork. It was a test of
our teamwork. It really tested our ability to work as a team)
left many memory to mE (left me with many memories. gave me
unforgettable memories. created lasting memories for me.)e
Although I was nervous, the speech turned out well.
Pronunciation (Band 7.5)
Your pronunciation ws clear, well-paced, and easy to understand. You
demonstrate d effective use of stress and intonation, which contributes
positively to the overall clarity and natural flow of your speech. This is a
clear strength in your speaking performance.
Final Comments for You
Your Part 2 response showed confidence and strong engagement with the
task. You were able to speak fluently for the full two minutes, which is a
clear indication of your developing fluency and control. Your
pronunciation was a particular strength clear and easy to understand
throughout. With continued focus on improving grammatical accuracy and
enhancing and polishing sentence structure, your ability to express ideas
will become even more effective. You are progressing well and
approaching Band 7. Keep up the dedicated work.
Adjusted Answer
One special day that really impressed me and left me with many beautiful memories was
our university’s annual cultural festival. After about a week of preparation, the big day
finally came and there was so much excitement in the air.
I worked closely with my classmates (TEAM), especially my best friends and we were in
charge of (RESPONSIBLE FOR) managing the performance schedule. That morning, we set
up everything, decorated the hall and even dealt with some unexpected problems
(ISSUES). For example, the stage lighting suddenly stopped working and it almost (nearly)
ruined our plans. Luckily(FORTUNATELY), we managed(WERE ABLE TO) to fix it just in time.
As the event began, the atmosphere became electric. Students, teachers and even local
guests (VISITORS) gathered to enjoy the music, traditional food and cultural displays. One
of the highlights for me (A PARTUCULARLY MEMORABLE MOMENT FOR ME) was giving a
short welcome speech. I was nervous at first but once I started speaking, I felt excited and
proud.
By the end of the day, I was completely exhausted but also incredibly proud of what we
had accomplished/ACHIEVED. Everything came together beautifully and the feedback we
received was more than positive.
(All in all ) This day was truly unforgettable because it tested our teamwork, our problem-
solving skills and our ability to stay calm under pressure. I also gained a lot of knowledge
and experience about how to organize an event. Without a doubt, it’s one
of the best memories I have from university.
