Needles
Knitting needles in size US6 (4 mm) or
size to obtain gauge.
For optional I-Cord closure: Two dpn
in same size.

Gauge
20 sts and 24 rows = 4" in Stockinette
stitch, blocked. Take time to save
time, check your gauge.

Pattern Stitches
I-Cord: Using 2 dpns, *knit 1 row; without turning the work, slide the sts to
the RH end of needle, pull yarn tightly from end of row, (behind the sts); rep
from * until cord measures desired length.

Kerchief
CO 2 sts.
Inc row: Kfb, k to end – 1 st inc’d.
Rep Inc row until you have 7 sts.

Est pattern:
Row 1 (RS): K3, yo, k until 3 sts rem, yo, k3 – 9 sts; 2 sts inc’d.
Row 2 (WS): K3, purl until 3 sts rem, k3.
Rep rows 1 and 2, 43 times more, ending with a WS row - 97 sts.

Eyelet row (RS): K3, yo, (k2tog, yo) 45 times, k1, yo, k3 – 99 sts.
Next row (WS): K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Knit 4 rows.
BO all sts knitwise.

Weave in ends.

Fastening option 1: Sew a button 1" from point at one end of top edge.
Use eyelet on the other end as buttonhole to achieve correct fit.

Abbreviations Fastening option 2 (shown): CO 3 sts and work I-cord for 36".
BO: bind off Weave through eyelet at BO edge and tie to achieve correct fit.
