INTRODUCTION

This essay will address a very important topic which is productivity; this word was
used only by economists to simply refer to a relationship between production
obtained by a sector of the economy and the inputs or resources used to obtain it
production. Thus, the more production was obtained using fewer inputs, then
Productivity was increasing, without taking into account the quality.

Subsequently, productivity has been misused by many politicians in their

speeches, even still confused with the word production. Productivity does not mean to produce.
more quantity, but it means producing better, that is, using the available resources better: resource
humans, materials, energy, etc.

In recent years, productivity is a more realistic term universally used by

industrial engineers, economists, officials, etc. To define a measure of performance
a productive process or of a person. Productivity has a direct relationship with quality
and is measured in the business environment, which is of general interest to everyone. With the best use
of the available resources to obtain a quality product or service, productivity
increases, generating greater profits, employment, and well-being for all.
In 1766, the word productivity was formally mentioned for the first time, and in 1883 Littre the
definition as the ability to produce; by 1914 Henry Ford applies the assembly line for the first time.
This application has transcendental effects on human life and the consequent increase
of productivity.

In 1962-1965, the Productivity Industrial Center conducted courses for training

consultants, for professionals in engineering, economics, and accounting. The added
basic techniques of industrial engineering.
In 1978, the Inter-American Network of Quality and Productivity (NQPC) was founded; it seeks to investigate and
promote quality, productivity, and quality of life at work. The gazette is also created
organizational change and the magazine Reflejos which informs about various topics of quality
and productivity.

Factors that influence the measurement system

The diversity of the product can lead to greater productivity through an increase in
sales and in economies of scale. But product diversity can also reduce the
productivity, by focusing on the process and forgetting about the operations. There are many ideas in the
design of the process that can be used to improve productivity. These factors of
Improvements include process flow, automation, equipment, and selection of process types.
If the type of process is not appropriately selected according to the product and market, it can
result deficiencies. Within a given process, there are many ways to organize the flow of
information, the material and the clients. These flows can be improved with new equipment or by
process flow analysis, with resulting increases in productivity. One of the methods
Keys used to improve productivity in the past have been automation, and it seems that
the substitution of capital for labor can still be a powerful key for improvement
of productivity in the future. The decrease in investment is the main cause of the decline of
growth of productivity in the last two decades.

The workforce is perhaps the most important of all. The workforce, in turn, is
associated with a large number of sub-factors: (selection and location, training, design of
work, supervision, organizational structure, remuneration, objectives, and unions). The
recruitment, selection, and placement of workers determine the raw material of
human resources available for the company. These resources can be made productive through
training within an organizational context can be altered through design
work, supervision, or authority relations. Human resource management in
operations can be seen as an integrated task that begins with recruitment and selection
of workers and continues with their motivation, then the measurement of results is done
and the granting of rewards for behavior. Finally, the compensations and objectives are
they can be used to motivate the workforce within the given organizational context and the level
training available.
Functional activities related to production

Product engineering: It deals with the development, technical design, and formulating specifications.
of the goods and services produced by the company.

Plant engineering: It is responsible for the installation or construction of maintenance of all the
installations related to productive activity, also participating in their design and
selection. Specifically, it is responsible for the operation of the facilities of the services
assistants.

Industrial engineering: Defines manufacturing processes. It is also responsible for studying dynamics.
of factory operation, in order to achieve the maximum use of resources
from the company, especially the labor and equipment.

Production planning and control: Prepares the production plans and programs.
In addition, it is responsible for the launch, monitoring, and quantitative control of production.

Manufacturing: It deals with the transformation of inputs into products, that is, the production of
good or service, specific function of production.

Supply (purchasing): Performs the activities of acquisition, custody, and transportation of the
raw materials and supplies and obtaining the services required by the production area,
like the rest of the company.

CONCLUSION

Productivity is, above all, a mindset. It seeks to continuously develop everything.

what exists. It is based on the certainty that one can do things better today than yesterday and
better tomorrow than today. It even requires endless efforts to adjust economic activities to
changing circumstances applying new theories and methods.

Many companies believe that productivity should be improved, but they often have
problems getting started with a productivity improvement program. A good start
it is a question form; each company must have its own set of questions depending on
their circumstances and situation.

Productivity is a firm belief in human progress.
