Parable of the Sower

(Mat. 13:1-5, 18-23; Mar. 4:1-20)

What is a 'parable'? It is the recounting of some common event that can serve as a comparison to some truth.
spiritual. Jesus used many parables to illustrate the nature of the kingdom. The parables deal with our
relationships with God; they have celestial and eternal meaning.

A parable is an illustration based on common events, the daily activities of people. Jesus knows the
man, and he knew the people of Palestine, every aspect and detail of their daily life.

The purpose of the parable of the sower is to emphasize the need to understand and obey the teaching of Christ.
Basically, the parable of the sower describes the work of Christ, the Principal Sower, and the four types of soil in which
that the sown seed falls.

The four types of soil are four types of listeners. The parable teaches the responsibility of hearing the word, because
Through hearing comes faith (Rom. 10:17). Jesus well knew that the seed cannot germinate and produce in every kind of heart.
human.

In this parable, Jesus presents a portrait of themselves; he puts the mirror in front of their eyes so they can see.
What kind of listeners they were. He tells a story about themselves and how they hear the word.
How would they receive his teaching? In the same way that the various lands of Judea received the seed of the sower.

8:4 A great multitude gathered, and those from every city came to him; he spoke to them in a parable: 5 The sower
went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air ate it.
They ate. 6 Another part fell on the rock; and having been born, it dried up because it had no moisture. 7 Another part fell among
thorns, and the thorns that grew up with it choked it. 8 And another part fell on good soil, and produced and
bore fruit a hundredfold.
Speaking these things, he said with a loud voice: He who has ears to hear, let him hear. - that is, not only to hear his voice, but
also understand and accept his teaching. James 1:21, 'Therefore, laying aside all filthiness and the overflow of wickedness,'
Receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

And his disciples asked him, saying: What does this parable mean?

And he said: To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; --the 'mysteries of the kingdom of God' not
They were mysteries in the sense of being mystical and difficult to understand. They were 'mysteries' simply because they had not been
revealed before. However, to understand the mysteries of the kingdom it is necessary to scrutinize the Scriptures (John 5:39; Acts.

-- but to the others in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand. --Isa. 6:9-10, --Mat.
13:14, "So the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled in them, which said: You will hear indeed, but not understand; And seeing you will see,
and you will not perceive. 15 For the heart of this people has grown dull, And their ears are heavy of hearing, And they have closed
their eyes; So that they do not see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And turn, And I will heal them.
"sane." The "others" that Jesus speaks of here had heard the same teaching that the disciples had heard since the
the beginning of his ministry. They had observed the same miracles that the disciples had observed. But the "others"
they saw and heard with closed eyes and blocked ears; that is to say, their heart was full of prejudice due to their errant conception
of the Messiah and his kingdom.

Why did Jesus speak in parables?(1) To reveal the truth. The parables are "windows" that let in the light.
They help us a lot in our understanding of heavenly truths. Jesus says several times, 'The kingdom of heaven is
similar to "and then the comparison continues.

(2) To preserve the truth. Parables help us a lot to remember the teaching. Who does not remember the
"Prodigal Son" and the "Good Samaritan"?

(3) To let his enemies judge themselves. In this way, Jesus awakened the people's conscience so that
could see his own rebellion.

To hide the truth, so that the insincere would not understand it.

-- Seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. -- One of the main purposes was to hide the truth of
the insincere. Many of the Jews of that time abused their privilege of learning the truth of God. Jesus 'to the
His own came, and his own (the Jews) did not receive him" (Jn. 1:11). As a consequence of this, they became even more confirmed in their
disobedience despite having heard these divine teachings. Compare 2 Cor. 3:15, they had a veil over their
heart. . 2 Tim. 4:3, 4, some have a itch to hear only the things that please them. Compare Isa. 30:9,10.

The Jews saw the miracles and heard the teaching, but their hearts were wicked. Because of this, the miracles did not.
they produced in them faith (Jn. 20:30,31).

Matthew 13:16, "But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear. 17 For truly I say to you..."
I say to you that many prophets and righteous people desired to see what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

8:11 This is the parable: The seed is the word of God. --Mark 4:14. It is the only seed that will produce the
plant that our Heavenly Father planted.

8:12 And those by the roadside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that

the events and activities of this life. Their life has been strongly affected and influenced by the matters of daily life: the
employment, family, plans, weddings, funerals, crimes, and dozens of other things. These have hearts
unattentive, insensitive, worried and indifferent regarding spiritual matters.

Satan snatches away the word with thousands of distractions. He doesn't want people to hear. If they hear, he doesn't want them to believe. If they believe,

8:13 Those on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no roots;
they fall away for a time, and in the time of testing they depart. - The seed falls on a thin layer of soil on
the solid rock, where there is no moisture. It sprouts quickly but cannot take root. There is life but very momentary.
This is the superficial, emotional, impressionable, impulsive listener. He/She has interest but it is fleeting. Does not obey for

Persecutions, tribulations, criticisms, mocks, tests are coming, which must strengthen you (Rom. 5:3-5) and bring you closer to
God, but rather they distance him from God and make him stumble.

excessive worry about the affairs of this life, and a lack of interest in spiritual matters.

The deceit of riches is very dangerous. 1 Tim. 6:9,10; Mark 10:24. Prosperity is more dangerous than poverty.
Many siblings abuse the 'plastic card', making purchases and thus committing themselves beyond their means, and
then comes an overwhelming eagerness. Many get trapped in debts that they can never pay.

In this way we will be able to retain what we have learned. In the spiritual realm, remaining immobile is impossible.

If you take advantage of the blessings (health, physical and mental strength, money, talents, employment or business, etc.), everything will increase.
He will have even more blessings. On the other hand, if he neglects his health, his money, his job or business, he will lose what he had.
If we lose physical health by neglecting it, what will happen if we neglect the soul?

Jesus calms the storm

Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41

8:22 One day, he entered a boat with his disciples, and said to them: Let us go to the other side of the lake. And
They set sail. -- 'And there were also with him other boats' (Mark 4:36); therefore, there were other witnesses of the miracle that was about to happen.

8:23 But while they were sailing, he fell asleep. - He did not cease to be God, but he also became a true man. He had
hunger (Matt. 4:2) and thirst (Jn. 19:28), he got tired (Jn. 4:9), cried (Jn. 11:35), and here we see that he slept. (This is the only text
which speaks of Jesus' sleeping.

The Gadarene Demoniac

of Jesus, for they knew him and understood that this would not be possible; rather, they approached Him to kneel before Him.

-- I beg you not to torment me. - The demons, sent by Satan, knew what awaited them, for Satan
and theirs will be cast into hell, into the eternal fire, Matt. 25:41; 2 Pet. 2:4; Jude 6.

6,000 soldiers). Because many demons had entered him. –So he was not possessed by a demon, but by a
army of demons. Imagine the deep misery of this unfortunate man!

8:31 And they begged him not to send them into the abyss. - Satan knew well that when God commands, he must obey.
and also knew what awaited him, the abyss of eternal torment. Compare Rev. 9:1; 11:7; 17:8; 20:1-3.

God allowed it. - The demons wanted to take possession of living bodies, even if they were animal bodies.

8:33 And the demons, having gone out of the man, entered the pigs; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake,
and drowned. - This clearly showed that Jesus had cast out the demons. The request of the demons was
granted, but did they like the result? Let's be careful about what we want or ask for.

8:34 And those who were tending the pigs, when they saw what had happened, fled, (never in their lives had they...

I was begging him to come into his house; because he had a single daughter, about twelve years old, who was dying.
- And as he went, the crowd pressed around him.

8:43 But – Not only was he stopped by the crowd, but now there is another interruption. Jesus was very
used to interruptions and always showed a lot of patience

8:45 Then Jesus said: Who is the one who touched me? - Some read this question as if Jesus actually

there was another purpose.

Jesus knew this woman and also her faith. He wanted to heal her, but it was essentialthat she understood it wasn't him
he said to Jesus who healed her because He wanted to; (2) that she would give her testimony of having been healed; (3) that the
People would realize that she was no longer unclean and could be restored to her social and religious life (she could now enter)
freely in the temple); and (4) remember that the miracles of Jesus were signs to produce faith(Jn. 20:30, 31), but
they couldn't do it if they were secrets. They had to be public.

And denying them all, Peter and those with him said: Master, the crowd is pressing and crowding you and you say: Who

it was not filthy. It would also confirm the miracle performed by Jesus.

8:48 And he said to her: Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace. – Note that this woman ’s faith was not a 'faith alone' (faith
dead), but it motivated her to do something. Jesus knows the heart of all; that is why he knew that this woman had faith. Without
embargo, when she only had faith, she did not heal. Instead, she was healed when her faith was manifested in approaching and touching the
cloak of Jesus.

8:49 He was still speaking when one from the house of the ruler of the synagogue came to say: Your daughter is dead; do not...
You bother the Teacher more – When Jairo left his house, his daughter was not dead. The person who brought the message did not have
faith in Jesus. And it gives the impression that Jairus was "bothering" Jesus. As if to say, "He can't do anything."
