Introduction
Once I started making meeps my students kept saying, “You need to make a big one!” I was so busy
trying to make all of the regular sized ones for the students, along with friends and family, that I kept
saying no. It wasn’t until one of my students brought in the one she made on her own that I realized
the Big Meep needed to be a thing. I rarely crochet anything for myself, but the first Big Meep I made I

made for me. Sometimes we need to put ourselves first. I do not make these on request. It’s just too
much time and the supplies are so much more, but they are great special presents for when the
occasion calls for it. I hope you enjoy making your Big Meep!

Big Meep Pattern
MATERIALS:
Yarn: I prefer to use a 6 super bulky weight, but the meep pattern is versatile
Hook: US L11/ 8mm hook
Round 1: 10 single crochet magic ring (10 stitches)
Round 2: 1 increase around (20 stitches)
Round 3: single crochet around (20 stitches)
Round 4: * 1 single crochet, 1 increase* Repeat around (30 stitches)
Round 5: single crochet around (30 stitches)
Round 6: *2 single crochet, 1 increase* Repeat around (40 stitches)
Round 7: s ingle crochet around (40 stitches)
Round 8: * 3 single crochet, 1 increase* Repeat around (50 stitches)
Round 9: s ingle crochet around (50 stitches)
Round 10: * 4 single crochet, 1 increase* Repeat around (60 stitches)*
Rounds 11-14: 1 single crochet around (60 stitches - I sometimes do fewer or more,
depending on how the yarn is working up)
Round 15: *4 single crochet, 1 decrease* Repeat around (50 stitches)

Round 16: s ingle crochet around (50 stitches)
Round 17: *3 single crochet, 1 decrease* Repeat around (40 stitches)
Round 18: s ingle crochet around (40 stitches)
Round 19: *2 single crochet, 1 decrease* Repeat around (30 stitches)
Round 20: s ingle crochet around (30 stitches)
Round 21: *1 single crochet, 1 decrease* Repeat around (20 stitches)
Place eyes and stuff (I have been using 25mm safety eyes - if you use smaller eyes, you
may want to also use a felt back in between the eye and the safety snap. I have had the
smaller eyes come through when they are being hugged and loved.)
Round 22: 10 decreases and sew close
