New Year's

Dragon
PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

When using the original yarn and hook number, the size of the Dragon is 15 to 16 cm

Crocheting density of 5 cm - 16 sc for 18 rows.


It is important to crochet a sample before you start crocheting a toy because it affects the density of the fit of the
crocheted detail to the ball.
If your density differs, try changing the hook number or choosing a different yarn.

MATERIALS REQUIRED
1) Yarn - Friends Cotton 8/4 – 100% cotton - 50g/160m:
light teal (color 88) – 1pc
brown (color 11) – 1pc
Cotton King 8/4 – 100% cotton, 50g/170m:
teal (color 42) – 1pc
red (color 10) – 1pc
white (color 01) – 1pc
orange (color 14) – quite a bit for a snowman's nose
2) Hook 2.0 mm
3) Stitching needle
4) Safe plastic eyes 6mm
5)Fiberfill /toy stuffing
6) Stitch markers and pins for sewing (for temporary fixation of parts)
7) Plastic Christmas ball with a diameter of 80 mm
8) Any sequins and other Christmas fillers to your liking
9) Scotch tape and fishing line

Recommendations:
If you do not have the opportunity to tie a toy from the yarn indicated in the description, do not be upset and do
not stop, because there is almost a small number of alternatives.
Here are several types of yarn, with which you will undoubtedly get a good result and the most beautiful toys:
Gazzal baby cotton, Yarn Art cotton baby, DMC Natura Just Cotton.
Also, feel free to use and combine colors that you have available and to your liking.

Abbreviations:
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc – double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
dec - decrease: 2sc together
inc - increase: 2sc in the same st
(…) x - repeat instructions within brackets
(..) - the number of sc in a row after crocheting it
Rnd) (s) – round(s)

Double chain - we leave a tip twice as long as our chain will be. As usual, we crochet the first loop of the
chain. Next, every time we form a new loop, we put our long end on the hook, and crochet it together
with the loop of the chain, thus we get a double chain.

We start crocheting with light teal yarn.
We fix the eyes between the Rnds 9th and 10th at a distance of 13 sc (pictures 14-15)
We fill the head with fiberfill.

Embroider the snowman's eyes with black thread and sew on the nose.

Assembling the Dragon


With the help of pins, we outline the location of the ears, horns, and spikes (pictures 5-9).

We should have four spikes on our heads – three (size 1), and one (size 2). We place a spike of
one size closer to the muzzle, the other three are attached between the horns and along the
head(picture 9).

To give the ears a beautiful shape, with the thread that we have left after crocheting, we sew
them along the edge and tighten them a little, so the edge to which we will sew the ears to the
head will become narrower (pictures 10-14).

Sew all the parts to the head.

Making a muzzle
With the brown yarn that we crocheted the horns, we embroidered the mouth and the
nostrils (pictures 1-5)

With brown yarn on the lower parts of the


legs and hands, we sew stripes that will be an
imitation of claws (picture 6).

Now we form the body.

For convenience, we insert the Christmas ball into the crocheted part of the body and, with
the help of pins, outline the location of all parts of the body and details (pictures 7-10).

Even attaching all the parts to the body with pins, the dragon should stand on its own.

First, we sew on the tail, filling it with

Now sew on the legs. First, fill the upper
part of the legs with fiberfill and sew it to
the body (pictures 1-2).

Now we outline the location of the remaining spikes and wings and sew them to the body.

We place a spike of the third (size 3) at the tip of the tail and five more of the (size 1) along
the back (pictures 3-4).

The wings are sewn and tightened in the same way as the ears, and sewn on
both sides of the spikes on the back of the dragon (pictures 5-7).

We sew the handles to the last row and fix them with a stitch to the body, giving them a
direction (pictures 8-11).

Now, turning the body upside legs, we attach the lower part of the legs to the already sewn one.
We sew them for the last row, and then, inserting the needle in the middle of the lower part, we
fix it with one stitch to the upper part. Thus, the leg will keep the correct shape and will not sag
when we lift the dragon, or when it hangs on the Christmas tree (pictures 12-16).

Take the ball out of the dragon.

Through the snowman's hat, we thread a fishing line of such a cut that the tips are long and
there is a margin (picture 1).

Pour tinsel into the ball and insert the snowman. We adjust its position and use tape to fix the
fishing line at the top of the ball. Wrap the long ends of the fishing line around the top of the
ball and fix it again with tape. Cut off the excess fishing line and wrap the excess tape in the
middle of the ball, as if wrapping the hole (pictures 2-4).

We also close the hole on the lid of the ball with tape (picture 5), put on the lid and the ball and
insert the ball into the dragon (picture 6).
