At the football ground,

(Iggy’s intro music in the background)

Meet Iggy.

A talented football player, dreaming of making it to nationals.

It was all he ever wanted.

All he ever worked for.

All he ever dreamed of.

And today… was the selection match for the national team.

The match that changed everything.

(Whistle blows. A football match is in motion. Cheers. Suddenly—a loud fall. Silence.)

Friend: Iggy? Are you okay?

(Iggy is on the ground, clutching his leg, wincing in pain.)

Friend : Coach!

Iggy (strained): I can’t feel my leg. This... this can’t be happening.

Coach (rushing in): Iggy, Don’t move. Guys, lift him up.

Exit.

(Ambulance siren in the background)

At the hospital

Nurse Grace chases the friends away.

Nurse : Get out, get out!

Mom: Iggy! (Really upset)

Dr. Hope: It’s a severe fracture. He’ll need surgery, and recovery might take several months.
Possibly longer.

Dad: Surgery?! How much will the medical bill be?

Mom: Shut up. (Hits him)

Doctor, Will he... be able to play again?

Dad: I don't know whether my insurance will cover this. (Dramatic)

Dr. Hope: I wish I could say. Right now, we focus on healing—physically and mentally.

Dad: Yes, football was his everything. I hope he’ll find a way to get over this.

That night,

(Later. Iggy is in bed, alone. The room is quiet. He stares at his phone, frustrated. No
charge.)

Iggy (to himself): Great. Phone’s dead. Leg’s dead. Future—also dead.

(Nurse Grace re-enters quietly.)

Nurse Grace: Couldn’t sleep?

Iggy: I just want something to take my mind off... everything. Anything. Do you have Netflix
here?

Nurse Grace (thinks, then hands him a book): Hmm… No, no Netflix for you. This might
help.

Iggy: A book?! Thats boring.

Nurse Grace: Its not just any book. It’s about a man named Ignatius. He was a soldier. Got
hit in battle and everything changed for him after that.

Iggy: Wait—he got injured like me?

Nurse Grace: Worse. He got hit by a cannonball. But the recovery changed his life. Maybe
this story will give you something to hold onto tonight.

Iggy (takes book): Thanks... I’ll give it a try.

(Iggy falls asleep reading the book)

IGGY’S DREAM

(Angelic entrance music)

St Ignatius: Wake up Iggy, let’s go for a walk.

Iggy (looks terrified): Who are you? And what kind of sick joke is this? Asking me to come
for a walk?

St Ignatius (stretches his hand): Come on my friend.

(Iggy takes his hand and both walk towards the front of the audience and stop.)

St Ignatius: So you are reading about me.

Iggy: Woa!!!!! You are St Ignatius!!! Am I dreaming!!!

(St Ignatius pinches Iggy hard and he yelps in pain)

St Ignatius: What do you know from all that you read?

Iggy: You were a brave soldier, dreaming of a great career in the King’s army and got injured
by a cannon ball in the battle field.

St Ignatius (smiles): Just like you

Iggy: Ya!!! And just like me you were bored and asked for something exciting to take your
mind of the pain. And like Sister Grace gave me a book on you, you were given one on Jesus
and the saints.

St Ignatius (smiles): Yes, I read those books for days and realised what actually matters.

Iggy: Lucky guy!! You didn’t have mobile phones back then or you would have only been
scrolling reels.

St Ignatius (laughs): That’s true. Anyway, I want to tell you, just like I found my life’s
purpose on been hit by a canon ball, you too will find a greater calling in your injury. Have
patience my friend. We are all pilgrims of hope. As we go through this journey of life, we
have to hope for all things to happen for the greater glory of God.

(Iggy’s realization moment. Pause. Friendly gestures between Iggy & St Ignatius)

Iggy: Thanks bro. I never saw it this way before.

St Ignatius (looks at the sky, smiles): Looks like the sun is rising, I have to go St Joseph’s
School, they are doing their morning assembly for me. See you soon.

(Goodbye & St Ignatius walks Iggy back to his bed.)

NEXT MORNING

(Iggy wakes up slowly.)

Friend: Morning, man. You look... different. Everything okay?

Iggy: Yeah... I think so.

I had this dream—or maybe it wasn’t a dream. Someone came to see me last night. Said a
few things I didn’t even know I needed to hear.

Friend (to the other friend) : He must've also hit his head when he fell down. Guy’s started
to get weird dreams. (They share a silent laugh.)

(His mom enters with breakfast. She notices the change too.)
Mom: You’re smiling. Haven’t seen that in days.

Iggy: I was so focused on what I lost. But now, I think... maybe this isn’t the end. Maybe it’s a
beginning to the next chapter.

Friend (softly): What changed?

Iggy: I used to think football was everything. But lying here… I’ve started asking myself—was
it really the only thing?

Nurse Grace: That book worked faster than painkillers.

Iggy (smiling): Maybe both helped. Someone great told me that Pain isn’t the end — it’s
sometimes the beginning of purpose.

(Friends help Iggy get up and everyone slowly walk towards the audience)

Iggy: We are all pilgrims of hope.

Friend: Woah, that’s deep. So, what now? Are you finally okay with this?

Iggy: “I don’t know what comes next. But I’ve realized... I may not control what happened,
but I can control what I do with it.”

(They all look at each other and smile.)

Narrator (V.O.):
Sometimes the moment that breaks us… becomes the moment that shapes us.
For Iggy, pain didn’t end the story—it rewrote it. As His Holiness Pope Francis so beautifully
expressed it: "We must fan the flame of hope that has been given to us, and help everyone
to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting
heart and far-sighted vision.”
